  1. You could well be right. I concur that my 'evidence' that the train service has got better as a result of privatisation is somewhat circumstantial. I guess we could compare my train service to another service that hasn't been privatised over the same period of time and see how that has fared. The Post Office perhaps? Privatisation isn't always the answer but often it is (in my experience).
  2. Lallana's injury will develop a complication and put him out of action for 6 months. Chamberlain will go to Chelsea after Cortese pushes the price up to £20m Adkins will lured to be manager of Liverpool next month. The Echo unearth a clause in Pulis's contract which means he has to play every remaining game of the season. Skacel finally signs after Burley is lured back to manage Saints for a second time. Cortese sells up to Rupert Lowe. Lambert goes to Crawley Town in a swap deal for Tubbs. Sorry, what was the question again? Ah, yes....when will Saints get to the top of League One? 26th October 2036. Good evening.
  3. Yes. Exactly like that. I've commuted to London for 25 years now so speak from a fairly experienced vantage point. My train service today is exponentially better than it was when I first started commuting in 1986.
  4. Privatisation is as much about installing a lean efficient management structure as it about making profits (although the two often go hand in hand) If the industry is well regulated and the companies retain franchises on performance based measures then it can be a win win for all concerned. I'm not saying privatisation is perfect but if regulated and monitored properly it is an effective way of running a service.
  5. Paint a picture for me of a country that caps it's maxium wage at £144k.
  6. I keep telling people that Cortese categoriically said in December that Chamberlain wasn't leaving in the January transfer window. Have faith people :-)
  7. danroan: RT .Leon.Mann: Just been told Chris Powell set to be named as the new Charlton boss...
  8. officialsaints: Nigel Adkins reaffirms Saints title ambitions, & talks about the mass of transfer speculation. Watch here -> http://bit.ly/e8kmvj #saintsfc
  9. Or so they say...
  10. This could be a 'whoooossshhh' moment for me but why are people talking about distances to Charlton when this thread is about the home game...?
  11. Oi...I floated that on here yesterday...(and was promptly ignored) ;-)
  12. Is paul ince confused enough yet? Great move by the club to generate a smokescreen of confusion on here....or so it would seem...
  13. I've heard that Skacel will be his first signing when he takes the Palace job
  14. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?27547-Saints-vs-Charlton-re-arranged-date Keep up.... ;-)
  15. So do I.....and if he's as much in the dark as I am after reading this forum then mission accomplished!

  17. I don't. Was just throwing a possible scenario into the auditorium to promote healthy debate :-)
  18. This season or next? We're gonna need to bolster the squad next season if we get promoted so if Cortese/Adkins believes someone of Austin's calibre CDAJFU next season then best snap him up now than wait for a bun fight in the summer. Perhaps.
  19. The inconvenient truth for socialists.... ;-)
  20. Good to see bankers paying more money back to the Exchequer. The more they get paid the quicker the country recoups Labour's debt. Win win.
  21. I've just checked my SaintsWeb Forum edition of Top Trumps and "spoken to him" definately beats "heard from people close(ish)" by some margin Now, had it been 'wing span' things would have been a lot tighter....
  22. If he means a higher level "next season" rather than "the rest of this season" then we're still in the frame
