Not forgetting the 'rumour' that we snatched him from under Arsenal's and Pompey's watching gaze...
-
Fret ye not. Labour have practically eradicated crime over the last 13 years so she'll be able to leave her front door open like the good old days
-
Just watched his post-apology interview to the media. He just doesn't know how to stop grinning when he's trying to sound sincere, does he? Which words did he mis-hear I wonder?
-
In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Mandy hatched this whole stunt...? "Brown shows he's human, visits lady's house and she says she'll vote labour afterall...." Hmmm...anyone smell spin?
-
What's the betting Brown's poll ratings actually go up as a result of this...?
-
I wish people wouldn't talk about labour voters like that
-
I think we may have a kidnap situation on our hands here.

12 minutes
-
Nope, no cameras (surprise, surprise). 9 minutes inside and counting
-
Brown still in Mrs Duffy's house. Curtains are pulled shut.
-
I'm more interested about what his off the cuff comments tells me about the personality of the man currently running the country. But that's only my opinion to be fair....
-
Brown is now in Mrs Duffy's house. More updates to follow as we receive them.
-
So, you'd be defending cameron with the same vigour in the same circumstances?
-
How do you know the others have said similar things but not been caught? At least we can agree on one thing that this quite entertaining
-
Best ask Brown why he's "profusely" apologising about something that is defendable I guess....
-
Defending the undefendable? Have I stumbled across a Pompey forum....?;-)
-
Of course, the predictablity of all this is that we'll get non-Labour people saying this is a major gaffe, we'll get labour people saying it's a minor lapse but the simple bottom line is it will cost him votes. That's what happens in politics.
-
Damn....I was just about to post along the lines of: "Next we'll have Mandy on camera spinning that 'It shows that Gordon is human' " and then up he pops on Sky News saying those very words. Beat me to it Mandy!
-
Suffice to say, if this had been Cameron I'm sure Mandy and co would be wetting themselves with delight. The biggest damage here is not what he said ABOUT the 'batty old labour supporting lady' but how his instinct was to slag off his advisors for letting him meet her in the first place. Like him or not, whenever cameron has been confronted with people dlagging off his policies over the last couple of weeks he seems to relish the challenge and debate whereas Brown seems I'll at ease. Just an observation
-
Labour supporters in patronising retorts shocker....
-
I don't think the "bigot" remark is the most damaging element here....it's the fact that his first reaction was to slate his advisors for letting him meet a non-scripted member of the public in the first place

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been caught on microphone describing a voter he had just spoken to in Rochdale as a "bigoted woman". The 65-year-old woman had challenged Mr Brown on a number of issues including immigration, crime and the economy during the exchange. As he got into his car, he was still wearing a broadcast microphone and was heard to say "that was a disaster". It comes after Labour vowed for him to meet more ordinary voters. The comments were made as he got into his car after speaking to Gillian Duffy, not realising that he had a Sky News microphone pinned to his shirt. He told an aide: "That was a disaster - they should never have put me with that woman. Whose idea was that? It's just ridiculous..." Asked what she had said, he replied: "Everything, she was just a bigoted woman." Mrs Duffy, a widow, said: "I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but if that's what he said I'm very upset. I'm very annoyed." Immediately after the exchange she had said she would vote Labour. But after being told about his comments she said she would not. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8649012.stm
