In other words, could he have delayed sending on the subs as a way of telling the supporters: "I'll make the decisions around here, not you". I little far fetched with my analysis there no doubt but if he's got a 'bloody minded' gene....who knows....?

I'm in the 'give it time' camp (for now...) but A manager either has tactical nous or he doesn't. That's not an attribute that Pardew needs "time" to acquire. What takes time is for the players to adjust to his approach but, from whatpeople have observed, he didn't appear to get the tactics right last night, not even close by many accounts.

When Pardew was first appointed I made a comparison with Burley's style and approach and got slated for it. I maintain that they are similar types of manager.

Aye. Tactics are something a manager can, and should, get right from 'day 1'. Ok, the team might not gel immediately but one doesn't need time to bed in the simple mechanics of tactics.

All seems completely at odds with that first training session Pilchards witnessed where Pardew was drilling positional awareness and discipline into the players from day 1....
