Ditto Michael Owen...hmmm, the plot thickens...

This story has a prominent position on the inside back page of the printed newspaper - takes up just under a quarter of the page. First time the story has been given that much profile in one of the nationals.

Here's a tangental thought...perhaps it's shrewd businessman Cortese himself that is the source of these 'stories'...? Wacky as it may seem, it makes sense on several levels... Cortese inflates his value for when he eventually moves (if indeed he does) and also claims a moral victory when he pulls off the 'coup of the season' by fending off those nasty big premier league sides. Think back to the feel good factor that was generated on here and in the team itself when we re-signed Lallana... Mind games or too far fetched...?

Anyone else having a problem with tapatalk at the moment whereby some posts aren't displayed? (just a single blank line) The only way I can view such posts is to quote it

I think most people are in broad agreement that they get paid "too much" (or sentiments to that effect) The difference is that some people accept it as a necessary evil and others want to reign in their wealth earning potential. And, as always, there are valid arguments on both sides of that particular debate

Why would they make up sustained stories about a player at a 3rd division club...?

"What I am led to believe is that the group behind the scenes who have been trying to get the Liebherr's family out of the club are the group who are 'driving this story'." Does anyone know who this 'group' is? Is it a 'brand new' set of people with an interest in taking over OR 'ghosts' from the relatively recent past....? I can't see how a group that are trying to derail the club now would find a welcoming fanbase if they were ever to mount a takeover....

I didn't hear the finer details on the news earlier but I believe this un-earths cases of tax EVASION rather tax AVOIDANCE. ISAs would fall into the latter category (i.e. a legal way of avoiding tax). I believe that Wikileaks have uncovered illegal tax evasion here (again not sure about the details.)

I could be wrong but I believe Dune was "delighted" that 2,000 jobs which, according to some people, were largely created over the last 13 years to help bolster the employment figures (as opposed to being absolutely necessary posts), are now under scrutiny. Yes, there is an inevitable human impact and, by implication, Dune was being unsympathetic about that, but I think Dune was looking at it purely objectively (long term big picture) rather than emotively (short term human impact). The coalition's theory (whether we choose to believe it or not) is that the majority of people whose jobs in the public sector are considered 'non-essential' will find jobs in an expanding private sector. Of course, that theory may work, or it may not. We don't know one way or the other yet.
