First half, I thought Murty was one of our best players (ok, all relative I know!)....he was actually talking to and marshalling the players around him....and had a great awareness and reading of the game (I was sitting in the second row near the player's tunnel so could see his game at close quarters.)
A classic example of him reading what was going to happen next was just before one of Ajax's goals. Murty had overlapped down the right wing but the killer pass wasn't forthcoming (surprise, surprise!)....so he turned around, looked back at the next passage of play and screamed at Lallana to track back to intercept their left winger as he sensed that was where Ajax would counter attack. Lallana was slow to react to Murty's instructions and as a result didn't get back in time to make a tackle. If he'd read the game as intelligently as Murty was reading it then he'd have had a chance of preventing the goal.
Ok, yes, fitness is an issue at the moment but once fit I can see Murty being a great asset to a League 1 team.
