  4. Indeed. It's the small print that catches them out every time. Little do people realise the financial committment they are subjecting relatives to when they buy them shares as a gift.
  5. Well, even Jan himself doesn't think we should have been playing 4-3-3 for the last three months.... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/a...?page_id=11102 "But Lee Holmes is definitely back, and if Ryan is not ready for Saturday then he certainly should be for next Friday, when we visit Plymouth. When they are both back you can really play in a 4-3-3 system with the wingers and when you do this and all the boys are there then you also have a bench with players who can make a difference."
  6. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11102 Quote from Poortvliet in the above article: "But Lee Holmes is definitely back, and if Ryan is not ready for Saturday then he certainly should be for next Friday, when we visit Plymouth. When they are both back you can really play in a 4-3-3 system with the wingers and when you do this and all the boys are there then you also have a bench with players who can make a difference." Erm....so why (oh why) have we been sticking to a 4-3-3 system in their absence if Jan is saying 4-3-3 only really works when both his out and out wingers are fit (i.e. Holmes and Smith)? Either this is another 'lost-in-translation' quirky quote from Jan or he doesn't know what he's doing..... You decide.

  13. How come there isn't a stockmarket rule that compels the board members of a PLC to attend the company's AGM? It's enough to make anyone think that the financial regulators in this country are incompetent.... credit crisis So, in theory, the AGM could take place without anyone from the board being present? Surely there's some rule(s) that stop AGMs turning into a meaningless tick-box exercise....? .....ahem...

  23. WH Ireland investor quits Carphone after breaching FSA rules David Ross, one of a consortium of new investors at Manchester-based stockbroking firm WH Ireland, today quit the board of the Carphone Warehouse, which he co-founded. His departure was prompted by the admission that he failed to declare the use of 136.4m of the company’s shares as collateral for personal loans. Ross used the shares in this way over the past two years but only told the company yesterday, despite Financial Services Authority rules which say such moves must be declared. He said he was up to date with payments on the loans and added that he had no intention of selling his 20 per cent stake in Carphone. Despite this, the shares slid 5 per cent today. Ross set up the company with old school friend Charles Dunstone, Carphone’s chief executive. Dunstone said his failure to declare was “an oversight” and described his resignation from the board as “a sad occasion”. Ross is one of a group of investors, including former Conservative Party treasurer Lord Marland and JJB Sports founder David Whelan, who have built up a 27 per cent stake in WH Ireland after first acquiring shares in May. http://www.crainsmanchesterbusiness.co.uk/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081208/FREE/812089965/-1/breaking How far down the domino trail is SLH?
