The rules actually state that if you make a move towards trying to play the ball you can be offside, plus interfering with the sight lines of the goalkeeper can make you offside even if you don't touch the ball.
I don't see anyone saying 100% safe. But in our final 10 games... even doing something dreadful like losing 9, drawing 1 and winning 1 would see us on 38 points.
It takes more than one team to improve form. It would requires others as well and if teams down the bottom to improve form will take points of each other.
