Why would they before seeing if they can get another promotion? We have a squad packed full of top Championship players. A promotion sees the value return to their asset.

What does that achieve?

We are heading to the Championship, the value of the club will significantly drop below what they paid for it. So there would be no incentive to sell up and lose a lot of money before seeing if they can get them promoted again. Even less incentive when Saints are the keystone club in the group.

What position do you think he was in that was out of position for him? Martin largely used him out wide on the left, which is where he was effective for previous clubs.

I think Ramsdale is or is at least pretty close given he recently has done so. Plus Dibling and Fernandes might be in the future. I guess you mean 'in the squad of English clubs playing Champions League', because quite a few of our players would be good enough for at least some of the 36 teams in the league stage. Sturm Graz, Slovan Bratislava, Young Boys etc.

More than just one or two. They've signed good keepers, defenders and midfielders and largely have got those right in recent windows. It is attacking players they have a blindspot for. I think largely because they take the approach of rather than signing one real quality attacker for a big price, they go for two players in a lower ability bracket for a similar combined price. They didn't splash out more on a player who would be a big threat. Instead we've bloated the squad with attacking players who will stand out in the Championship, but aren't good enough to make an impact in the Premier League.

Hyperbole! Let's not go to extremes and look at this rationally. He has scored 36 goals in his last 80 Championship games (often while playing out wide). Sunday league players can't do that. He is out of his depth in the Premier League, but would be a very useful player in the Championship! Same can be said for pretty much our entire squad bar a few that have PL quality like Ramsdale & Walker-Peters and a few others.

He looks out of his depth in the Premier League, but his quality is that of a top Championship player. We have had a very large number of players since Ali Dia who were not at the level of a top Championship player. Also it does not 'literally' look like he's won a competition.

We have a squad packed with players that are top Championship level. Even if a few leave (Ramsdale, Dibling & Walker-Peters being the most likely) we still have depth to replace them. Archer, Stewart, Brereton Díaz and Armstrong have all caused big problems for opposing Championship defences, so would Onuachu if he stayed. Sure the squad is out of its depth at PL level, but with the current squad and the income advantage we have over 21 of the other clubs it isn't overly optimistic to see them challenging for an automatic spot.

As we are very likely to be Championship club in 6 months, he'd be very useful next season as he has shown he can be prolific in the Championship (36 goals in his last 80 games often from playing out wide). You do not need to pay the release clause to sign a player. Clubs can accept below the clause fee. There are players with 1 billion EURO release fees, you do not need to spend a billion to sign them.

33 million EUROs is the release clause. That doesn't mean that is how much he'd cost. Every player in La Liga has to have a release clause in their contract as part of league rules.
