  1. His 3 goals and 3 assists were useful. That equaliser away at Reading for example earning a point. Yes, he wasn't any use in the Premier League last season and was out of his depth. But I maintain he served a purpose as an impact sub in the Championship. As a signing for a Premier League team he isn't great, but Saints signed him to help get to the Premier League and he did play a part in that, so he served the purpose he was signed for.
  2. This is not the official Derby County FC account...
  3. He wasn't great, but was still used a lot in from the bench in a promotion season. He served a purpose and was out of his depth in the Premier League.
  4. Clyne, Boruc, Cork, Davis, Yoshida, Ramirez (Ramirez although frustrating and inconsistent is still a very good player) - all performed well in the Premier League last season in first season after promotion Hooiveld, Do Prado, Fox, Billy Sharp and even De Ridder to some extent - all played a role getting Saints promoted. They served the purpose they were signed for. Lovren, Wanyama and Osvaldo all look to be excellent signings. ................. Tadanari Lee and Forren are clearly flops, possibly Mayuka as well but again that could change. Gazzaniga jury still out, has potential and is very young for a keeper. ................. Thats a good success rate, every club has transfer mistakes. Saints have made very few in the last 4 years and the rise from 68th to currently 9th in England reflects that.
  5. No I didn't, I didn't post in that thread. Very odd sense of humour you have glasgow!
  6. Would that be the last few years that have seen the club rise from 68th to currently 9th in England? Club must be doing something right on transfers.
  7. I'm not 44 ffs, it is one of Glasgow_Saint's "jokes".
  8. Osvaldo has come in and in both articles about Mayuka and Puncheon leaving this was listed as a factor in them leaving. Plus we have Ward-Prowse starting in one of the positions Mayuka/Puncheon would be used and the emergence of Isgrove, Sinclair and Rowe.
  9. Saints upgraded him with a £15m Italian international striker.
  10. It hasn't been confirmed by either club, I guess when they do it can have its own thread.
  11. BBC Solent Sport ‏@solentsport 50s French club Sochaux lining up a loan bid for Southampton's Zambian forward Emmanuel Mayuka, we understand #bbcfootball #frenchconnection
  12. Where is that being reported?
  13. SSN expecting one incoming deal for Saints today.
  14. Remember, its not only Southampton's decision. Its a joint one between both clubs.
  15. You've taken what I said completely out of context and put your own spin on it.
  16. He is with the squad in Norwich, Saints have a bigger squad than 18, so some will always miss out.
  17. Jack Cork has travelled to Norwich & is with squad despite not being in final 18. We have a squad of more than 18 players, they can't all be involved every week.
  18. He was in the training videos on Thursday and is on the bench today so that isn't true.
  19. Those four players I mentioned would all improve the under 21 team and give them a better chance of winning games. Difference is, Saints unlike most Premier League clubs use home grown teenagers in the starting line-up for Premier League games.
  20. When Gareth Bale finally moves to Real Madrid, Southampton will overtake Tottenham in terms of net spend in summer of 2013.
  21. Southampton's best young players are in the first team playing in the Premier League. Same can't be said of most of Southampton's opponents at this level. Shaw, Ward-Prowse and Chambers all 18 years old and started both Premier League games this season. Even Gazzaniga is still eligible for the under 21's.
  22. Don't watch this then...
  23. I doubt he has bothered looking in detail at the 2011/12 Southampton Championship accounts (not that they are particularly relevant to 2013/14) and the 2012/13 Premier League accounts aren't available, so as it came over on the SSN interview he is merely guessing.
  24. Knowing Southampton's accounts from 2011/12 in the Championship is very different to talking about the wage bill in 2013/14 in the Premier League. I think Saints have more room for manoeuvre in the £52m than West Ham do, even more so if Saints shift Hammond, Sharp, Tadanari Lee, Martin Barnard and Forte.
