It would be hard to find a left back better than Fox that is willing to play second fiddle to an 18 year old.

PRE-SEASON: Southampton vs Beşiktaş - (17:30 BST)
Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Of course they could feasibly play 45 minutes tonight, but in modern sport it would be highly unusual for a sportsman to go from starting full training after a break to playing in a match within days. -

Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Why? They have only been in full training for a couple of days after extended breaks. The rest of the squad have had 4 weeks of training and tactical work in build up to this game. -

I didn't say they'd do all 11 changes at half time, but come the final whistle the Saints team may resemble the substitute list bar a few players. -

PRE-SEASON: Southampton vs Beşiktaş - (17:30 BST)
Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Why? It is 3 weeks away, he has only been in full training for a few days and he'll probably feature vs Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad. -

Why do you think that? The subs will probably be the second half team... Gazzaniga Lovren Turnbull Stephens Shaw Wanyama S. Davis Puncheon Isgrove Lambert Mayuka Like Pochettino has done in the 3 previous games, he's mixed up the combinations. -

No. Sent off vs West Brom and missed the Tottenham, Sunderland and Stoke games with his 3 game ban. -

Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC 1h Guly misses out with a knock picked up in training, and the game comes too soon for Maya Yoshida and Gastón Ramírez. #saintsfc -
Absolute rubbish! Why have you even bothered with this? 1 hour ago he was in Hong Kong playing for Manchester CIty... Unless he has used a tele-porter from the other side of the planet it is time to close this thread.

Danny Fox, Frazer Richardson Maya Yoshida and Jack Cork played around 30 games at full back for Southampton last season. Naughton would get a lot of games.

Why does it matter if they were the "worst side in the league" or had a man sent off in the second half? Saints played well in that game, which was the point I was responding to. Plus both strikers scored.

Why does his age matter? England need players to perform at the World Cup next summer. He'll still be a good player next summer, why does it matter if he doesn't play at tournaments beyond 2014? If England are always building for future tournaments they'll struggle to do well at any of them. They lack a goal threats that Lambert would provide them with.
