hats off to whoever posted the stream link on the match thread. I really enjoyed that. Cracking performance in keep the football. Patient and lots of movement, we looked back to our best with that sort of showing (and let's not forget that is without Lambert and Fonte). top, top performance, albeit against a poor Forest side.

Assuming that we haven't yet received all of that £15m, then you could argue that £7m went to pay off last year's losses, with the other half earmarked for this year's losses? I would give Cortese due credit not to lead us to ruin, because he has a financial/banking background and there's no way people with that experience gamble resulting in economic strife..... oh......

If the rumours are to be believed then we have offered some serious money to secure players this January. But £6m ? Really ? We have been consistant with our slating of the Blue Few for idly lapping up the success that their over-extravagance bought. With nobody questioning "at what cost?" to the financial stability these players were bought, and retained. Yet here we all are, egging the club on to spend a record fee....desperately trying to cling on to top spot.... Naturally, I would love it, love it, if we get promoted this year, and it is impossible to think that we could ever be in a better position to do so, but are we starting the slippery slope to financial ruin once again? IIRC our turnover in the year we got relegated from this division was just £14m. IF it's going to be a similar figure to that this year, can we really afford to spend £6m on one player? I know we have some wonga behind us, but at what point should we question it? Or do we just sit back, idly lapping up the success, looking forward to joining 500,000 for the city parade on the Common?

very good :-) erm, didn't stop us having more guinesses on several other occassions in the RoI. just made me realise that racism isn't always black and white

here's an example. I was working in Naas, County Kildare when I was about 26 years old. Having had a belly full of food and several guinesses one evening with my host, I guess a twenty something Irish chap, called Enda, he said something to me, which caused me to respond, "but that's a bit Irish". What I meant, was that he said something completely daft. The sterotypical Irish thing was, dare I say it, second nature. or accidentally racist. Enda wasn't impressed either way :-)

Whilst I'm sorry for yours and others' angst, I can't help but feel from a marketing perspective it's a cute trick. There were several hundred disappointed fans today, some of whom have let many others know of their disappointment. Thus increasing the urgency with which fans will buy tickets for remaining fixtures. "I don't want to miss out like those folks did for Brighton tickets...." Ultimately, the club will try and sell as many tickets as possible. Anything that creates the reality, or perception, of demand outstripping supply, adds to demand....and happy days for ticket sales. And before anyone jumps back with a "upsetting fans is a bad thing", football fans are notoriously loyal, it's not like changing your supermarket..... So, whilst I can relate to the annoyance of the fans who queued without success, perhaps the club had some method in their madness. (or probably more realistically, they just didnt give it a moment's thought!!!!!) But before we hang the ticket office organisers, maybe we should wonder when the last time tickets went on sale and physical presence meant tickets for some and not for others? The internet and telephone lines has lessened the need to sell tickets by hand.......

first was debatable, second was nailed on. Red card was for foul and abusive language. The player was warned to take his protest away and he kept going. So, what the referee did was harsh on the player, but well within the laws of the game. As for the one he missed for Lambert in the second half, it was possibly the most obvious pen this year. So, overall, we cannot think we are lucky, we got two pens, perhaps could have had 4-5. hard luck Brighton :-)

I have a few... A very drunk fella in the Milton early eighties singing heartily on his own, in the direction of Peter Shilton, "The Moat House has burnt down, the Moat House has burnt down". To this day, I still don't understand it. The Moat House was the hotel at the bottom of Highfield Road (now the Highfield House Hotel), but it hadnt burnt down. Second up, although at an away game in Nottingham, was a very drunk student chanting (again on his own), "Pearce is my Grandma, Pearce is my Grandma, la, la, la, la" etc. In a game which picked Stuart Pearce, versus Neil Ruddock. No pulling out of tackles in that contest...also nobody joining in with the student. Third up, although not politically correct, was a shout out, after an own goal at the Dell, maybe early eighties (L.Orient perhaps?), with a whipped in cross and deflection of the black centre-half, which flew into the net. Followed by a shout out of "in off the black, seven away". (i know that's not pc, but is quite witty)
