  1. I agree. If nothing else it does mean that the away team are a long way from their support in the second half.... I suppose we're giving the club credit that they can even think about stuff like that...
  2. I've taken some acid in my time, but I still can't get my head round that one.
  3. I'm sorry but Rudi Skacel is not going to hang around, thankfully. How many of us would have sold Surman for the 2-3m that was reportedly being offered a while back? I would, he has no pace. Wotton left Plymouth, hmmmmm, probably because they knew he was woeful. Euell is a decent enough player, but certainly not worth what we are paying him. Cant see him staying next season. Kelvin Davis is obviously worth keeping, but not sure that we will be able to hang on to him Seijs I like, I would keep him as I would Perry. Gillet in the middle, but lose everyone else.
  4. Interesting to see some of the player ratings from todays game. I think I must have been watching a different fixture. Kelvin aside, I'm not sure anyone gets above 5 points, and most would get 3-4. Thompson will bear the brunt for being inept and as people keep saying it's not his fault, he's not a right back.....erm, but he is a "professional" footballer, so he ought not to look as out of his depth as I would. Surman was non existant. Wotton was everything that we have come to expect of him, slow, sluggish and unable to tackle (but it's not his fault, he just doesnt have the legs for this anymore). Euell had 5/6/7 (I lost count) decent enough chances, but continually made the wrong decisions. Saga managed to put the ball out for a throw in when he was in front of goal, about 5 yards out - and he's an international professional footballer. Seijs was poorly out of position for the first goal. Skacel has never, ever, had a good game for us, and how annoying is it when he tries to encourage the fans into making more noise - you put your foot through a tackle Skacel and I will make some noise about it, but all the while you strut around the place, playing like you are the most skillful player ever to grace the Championship. Here is a player that I will not be sad to see the back of (League one or not). And another thing, if Wotte thinks that striking the opposing manager is leading from the front, then he is sadly mistaken. perhaps if he had had that much fire in his belly at half time, they wouldnt have come out like a limp biscuit. sorry, but on a day of such optimism, I cannot believe they dished that up. rant over
  5. The sun is shining. God is in his Heaven. Goosebumps just thinking about today. Off in about half an hour, for a pre match bevvie or three. I am really going to enjoy today.
  6. and I just wanted to say.. I WANNNNNNNNA BEEEEEEEE..... Please join in tomorrow from 3pm
  7. Not true I'm afraid. In order to be barred from being a Director you have to be proven to have behaved inappropriately, which most frequently means that you have traded illegally (by taking on more debt without the ability to pay it back). Going backrupt isnt a case for being banned from Directorships. I very much doubt if Lowe has behaved illegally, despite his obviously failings.
  8. I'm still confused. (easily done, I know). Copied this from BBC website recently "But clubs who go into administration after today's (26 March 2009) 1700 GMT deadline face having their 10-point deduction suspended. If the club is relegated the points will be deducted from their tally at the start of next season but if the club stays up the 10 points will be taken off their final total. The club would then go down if the 10-point deduction subsequently resulted in it slipping into a relegation place". So, we go into admin (Plc or Ltd), and surely the football club will have a penalty ? So admin soon for one of the vehicles involved, surely this means relegation for the football team?
  9. If I understand the rules correctly, then the March deadline is a bit of a non event. The rules now state that if you go into admin before the deadline you lose ten points this season. If you go in after the deadline, but before the start of next season, then the points are suspended and will either come off your total this season (if it makes a difference to promotion/relegation) or next (if it doesnt). So, from Saints point of view, if you assume that administration is inevitable, (and you assume that losing ten points this season will relagate us), then this March deadline was irrelevant. Our choices were; 1. admin before deadline, minus ten this season, relegation, and start league one on -17 2. admin after deadline, minus ten this season, relegation, and start league one on -17 3. admin after dealine, (but not this season), potentially start the year in whichever division on -27. From a financial point of view, it has to be preferable to start in the Championship on -27 rather than League One on -17, So, despite Lord Lowe's obvious failings, this is a call which is correct, in my opinion. Perhaps there is method in some of his madness.
  10. I will be renewing my season ticket, but out of general annoyance I will probably sign the bottom "disgruntled, Southampton". That'll learn 'em
  11. Do you think he got his millions by fleecing the Saints ? Blagrave out!
  12. I guess it was a case of a few beers and a little argy bhaji
  13. At the adventure barn near Marwell. Davis seemed a bit disappointed with Jan's exit, but did point out that in this day and age it is pretty honourable to resign, rather than wait for the boot and inevitable payoff. He also felt the Wotte thing has been brewing so was not a big shock to the them. Genuinely decent chap and very good of both of them to humour me, whilst they were clearly on a family outing. I couldn't resist asking Davis if he was staying, and he did reply that he hopes so, unless Man Utd come in for him :-) splitter..... good ambassadors for our troubled club though...
  14. I apologise :-) I said they were new. You said they'd swapped them. Beer induced posting methinks. Either way, they didnt have any high density foam :-(
  15. the question is, will you let it ride onto a double with wotte?
  16. oooooh you said new doors... surely that's worthy of infraction points or something???
  17. oh, new doors? where's that? i need some high density foam this weekend....
  18. erm, so in summary this is his 11th position since 2000? i'm not sure i would recruit him on that basis alone
  19. good luck Jan and remember 'tis always better to regret something you have done, rather than something you haven't
  20. who's going to wake up tomorrow morning and feel that little tingle of optimism that only comes after you've sacked your manager? (or he's resigned..) nah, me neither....
  21. Ok, so Jan is under pressure and Rupert likes firing managers, but would Rupert give SCW his first chance at football management? SCW would have to take a substantial salary drop, but is it beyond the realm of possibility? And more importantly would we take SCW over JP?
