  1. I'll be honest, I didn't read all your post cos it's too long but I'll reply as you quoted me. I want to know who people would appoint other than Marsch because otherwise it just sounds like you're moaning. I can accept Marsch isn't perfect and have said as much but IMO he's the best we could realistically get. By all means moan about it but if you don't have a better suggestion then it's a bit pointless. We can all do it but doesn't achieve much of anything.
  2. As this is the Jesse Marsch thread I think it would be useful for anyone who wouldn't be happy appointing him to also say who they would give the job to. Marsch wouldn't be my pick in an ideal world but I prefer him over the other realistic candidates.
  3. I wish him all the best. Even more so if he takes Moi and Yanny B to his new club.
  4. Any appointment could be an unmitigated disaster. Whoever is appointed will be under massive pressure from the start and if they don't get results will get stick for being rubbish. Most of the potential (realistic) candidates have been sacked by clubs in similar positions. So really the only point out of all that is that he's American.
  5. Why is he eating his T Shirt? Surely it can't be that long till snack time?
  6. The lad who came on here when Orsic signed (think he supported Zagreb) praised his tireless work ethic so you'd like to think he'd be OK, and if you look at his goals most are scored by cutting in from the left so in theory he should fit into that OK. Edozie is the big loser in the formation - he's probably the closest we've got to a traditional winger. Think he's got enough about him to adapt though.
  7. Good spot - assume Selles was his assistant at Copenhagen?
  8. Mods, can we have a poll on whether Gallardo is Argentinian or Brazilian? We need to get this cleared up.
  9. Gallardo isn't Brazillian. He's Argentinian HTH.
  10. Yeah, there were definitely players who didn't like the system - Redmond was probably the stand out in that regard. Whatever we do is going to be a risk but I think this way represents a bit less risk and if we revert to more pressing then it probably gets the fans onside quicker than if we go for something a bit more root and branch. Getting the crowd behind whoever comes in is going to be crucial - I don't think there's currently a stand out candidate that unites everyone. Not overly keen on Gerrard mainly on the basis that he didn't do so well without Michael Beale but we're not going to get anyone who hasn't got flaws so I'd support him if he did get it.
  11. Yeah, and virtually every winger cuts inside these days regardless of formation anyway. Seems to me that this season our problems are a combination of players getting hacked off with Ralph personally and a deviation from the 4-2-2-2 in an effort to shore up the defence. The tactical change hasn't worked but we've got better players in defence such as ABK and Caleta-Car and I wonder if reverting to 4-2-2-2 with a different voice and better players is all that's needed. Certainly wouldn't require a massive change from what most of the players are used to and are comfortable with. We'd still have issues with the defence but we might be a bit better and, crucially, we should be scoring goals. Tall Paul probably doesn't fit a pressing side but does offer something different and that might compensate for his lack of stamina.
  12. Cheers. Don't think that's realistic TBH. He wanted to manage the U23s at Everton till the summer so probably unlikely he'd come to us.
  13. I feel like I'm repeating myself but, out of interest, who would you appoint?
  14. Wow, you need to take some meds and calm down.
  15. Agree. It's probably the least worst and least riskiest of the realistic candidates. Not massively inspiring but none of the others are either and, as you say, the squad is probably a better fit for Marsch than anyone else.
  16. Jesse Marsch has never been the same since Rick Springfield nicked his girlfriend.
  17. Out of interest, who would you appoint?
  18. From what I recall the three names in the frame when we sacked Jones were Marsch, Jones and Steve Cooper so Marsch wouldn't be surprising. Whoever takes over is on a hiding to nothing now - I can't see anyone decent and in a job wanting to come here, and I can't see anyone decent and not in a job wanting to come here either. Marsch wouldn't be a particularly inspiring appointment and I'm sort of getting fed up with teams that have pressing as their hallmark. I'd quite like a manager who focussed on playing football a bit as well but beggars can't be choosers and all that.
  19. Just seen the stats for the game (sorry if already covered) 41% possession and two shots on target against 10 men. Oh and 150 less passes than Wolves. That’s shocking.
  20. And that's Nathan's father in law!
  21. Ha, I was there when Branfoot was manager. I stayed after games and protested the same as many others. I'm not calling you plastic for wanting Jones gone, in fact I don't really care what you feel either way. You asked a question and I answered it. Do I want Jones gone? Absolutely. Could I bring myself to actually want to see us lose? No.
  22. I can see what you're getting at but have you ever seen saints concede and be anything other than pissed off? Have you ever celebrated a defeat? Seriously, have you ever walked into the stadium and wanted Saints to lose? When we've scored have you been disappointed ever? If you're a saints fan you can't do anything other than want them to win. Sure, on an intellectual level you can see a silver lining but on an emotional level? No, I can't think of anyone except the most plastic of fans who would take a defeat when they're at the game or even watching on TV. I guess about the only time I might be tempted is if we were losing and the prospect of a really heavy defeat could tip the scales but even then I would find it hard.
  23. I'm definitely looking forward to the game and we've got a few players that I really want to see do well. For the first time in ages we appear to have players that can actually beat their man - Alcaraz, Sulemana and Edozie all seem capable of going both sides and I think we've really lacked that. We haven't had a big presence in the box for quite a while either so I'm looking forward to seeing Onuachu after a proper week of training. Orsic is still a mystery even though he's been here a month or so. There's a lot to look forward to. I hope we put out a decent side and the players do what Jones tells them to do. Not because I think he's a genius but if he fails then I don't want him having an excuse and blaming the players. More than anything I want to see a win and a good performance where we create chances. The manager situation will take care of itself; I don't like him and so far he hasn't done anything to suggest that he can turn things around but I'm getting a bit fed up of concentrating on him solely.
  24. I thought the presser was OK, nothing special but nothing to get too worked up over either. It's points and performances that matter anyway. I'd like to see: Bazunu KWP - DCC - Salisu - Perraud JWP - Lavia - Alcaraz A Armstrong - Mara - Sulemana Put A Armstrong in simply because he's not bad at pressing and could set the tone for the performance. I'd probably leave Onuachu on the bench because I'm not sure he'll be fit enough for 90 mins and would rather he come on towards the end of the match. If KWP isn't fit then Bree I suppose.
  25. To be honest that sounds like a load of bollocks. The financial part is fine and to an extent governance (although not sure how that would be measured) but fan engagement and equality standards don't really have anything to to with sustainability.
