  1. on the plus side it does suggest that Orsic has a decent command of English.
  2. Players absolutely need to take a lot of blame for the situation. If they can play like they did against Man City and then not show anything close to that commitment in any of the other games then that's down to them as much as NJ. I can't see NJ lasting and I don't like him anyway but whoever comes in needs to be a good man manager first and foremost. Personally I think that's what makes great managers anyway - tactics, formations, style etc are important but if you can't get the players on board and winning first and second balls then it doesn't really matter what philosophy the manager has. He may be different in real life than he is in interviews but NJ comes across as the type of person I'd hate to work under - erratic, inconsistent and frankly a bit unstable. It's like he read a book on being a good manager but didn't understand it. Sure I saw Jacob Tanswell saying he was going to be doing an article in The Athletic about the game yesterday - it's not up yet, wonder if there's anything going on to cause him to hold fire on it?
  3. Yeah, I agree. I accepted relegation a couple of weeks ago so I'd rather give it to Selles and look for a manager in the summer. Only worry is that SR appointed Jones in the first place so I don't have much confidence they'll get it right at second time of asking. Jones has to go though - he's clueless and probably the only one who believes the guff he comes out with.
  4. I guess when you're being called an idiot he probably feels entitled to have a village all his own.
  5. You talking about Jones or Lyanco?
  6. I think everyone has missed something here. Onuachu will probably be playing CB.
  7. Strange. I'm probably in a minority but I don't think DCC has been all that great, especially considering all the hype and several windows of people clamouring for him. Don't think he's awful but I was expecting a bit more out of him. Having said that, he's better than Lyanco and Bednarek. If anything it's Bednarek that needs match fitness and to get up to speed.
  8. Frank Clark.
  9. Don't really know much about him but if we try enough Championship managers then I reckon one of them will probably turn out OK. Makes sense to start with the least experienced and then work our way up.
  10. I'm not rating it till I've seen the players play. On the face of it, it doesn't look too bad and has addressed the most glaring problems like another striker and a bit more variety in the wide areas but no idea how they'll look when reality kicks in. Of the players we brought in earlier though: Orsic hasn't done anything so he'll need to get better, Alcaraz had a good game in the first leg and justified the hype but last night was pretty poor. He's shown enough potential to probably turn out to be a good signing, just hope it doesn't take him too long to get there.
  11. If we sign Sulemana and Onuachu will we have the tallest player in the league and the quickest player in the league?
  12. Tough one. Everton can probably offer more money and dugouts but we can offer a quicker route to a top club if he does well. Imagine we'd be more open to a get out clause in the event of relegation as well.
  13. Option 1: A boat load of cash. Option 2: It's bollocks. Option 3: It's a line we can trot out to show we at least tried to recruit a striker. It's probably option 2. I've not completely given up on the Rennes winger - seems to me that Rennes have a player who isn't playing regularly and wants to move and as the deadline gets closer they're trying to extract as much as they can. Dunno if he's the answer or not but I'm not writing it off just yet.
  14. I never thought Aribo would be that good anyway but his signing was a strange one because he didn't fit the profile of a typical Ralph kind of player and neither does he appear to suit how NJ wants to play. I don't actually think he's that lazy but I do think he's too slow both in terms of reactions and in general. Kind of player that would excel in a slower paced league.
  15. We could sign Origi off Milan if they get Saint Maximin. I'd take him
  16. Yeah, I thought Alcarez was pretty good against Newcastle. Orsic didn't do much but too early to judge that and on paper looks a decent signing. Bree kind of makes sense and I'll judge him when I've seen him. As you say, it's the striker that's the problem and outside of Beto there hasn't even been that many names that seem at first look to get excited over either.
  17. I think we should play a game - the next time a new link crops up we should race to see who can say "he's shit, not the answer and my mate watches him regularly and he agrees" first. No cash prize, it's just for fun. Urgh, this is one of the more depressing windows, isn't it?
  18. I know but thanks anyway.
  19. Yeah, exactly. NJ was the first to mention a long term injury and that's my point. If it had been mentioned earlier I doubt many would have said much. In the same way not many are questioning Lavia being subbed in every game, or ABK or Livramento not playing.
  20. Care to point out when Ralph said he had a long term injury? If he had said that then no one would have questioned the situation but he didn't. In the absence of any information on his injury, it was entirely reasonable to ask questions about him not being selected or playing much at all.
  21. Bit before my time but like quite a bit of his stuff, particularly "Southern Cross", perfect summer song. Always thought it was about lynching in the south but turns out it's about a boat. I need to get some CSN on the jukebox. Subject of how music is accessible is interesting. On the one hand you've got pretty much anything ever recorded within your grasp but on the other, it's hard to know where to start. I bet anyone over a certain age remembers their devotion to the charts and would know exactly what the top 10 was but it seems largely irrelevant now. Does anyone still follow it? Similarly TV programmes like TOTP and The Tube although I suppose there's still Jools Holland. Same with the music press - no one buys magazines/papers anymore and whilst a lot is online it's the same as with streaming services - lots of content but almost too much. Radio stations are probably the last bastion of traditional music consumption but with internet radio even that can be overwhelming. Also a lack of definitive movements that define decades - loads and loads of diversity which is a good thing but I kind of miss the tribal elements of music. Obviously still exists but to a lesser extent. Probably me getting older.
  22. I may have you confused with someone else but didn't you vote for Brexit? Not many unashamed liberal democrat brexiteers around - you must have been a collectors item. Apologies if it wasn't you and not really having a dig - just seemed a strange combination.
  23. Wright man for the job?
  24. 27 years old, converted fullback, did well in Holland, nicknamed "The Schoonhoven Locomotive", gets lots of crosses in, seems like an energetic fullback that gets forward a lot but hasn't really done that well in Italy. Monza, Marseille, Lyon and Bournemouth all linked with him.
  25. Supposedly both Villa and Wolves have been or are interested in Jackson although whether that's true or not is up for debate. If it's true then their respective managers will know him relatively well and that's a positive. I'm trying to keep an open mind about Jackson. I don't think he's the answer to our problems but if he's in addition to a striker then might not be a bad signing.
