  1. For crying out loud this is getting ridiculous now
  2. Meatloaf wasn't an anti-vaxxer but he didn't much like lockdowns and would frequently complain of being all jabbed up with nowhere to go.
  3. Saw him at the BIC when I was a kid, first concert I ever went to. Whether you liked his music or not the bloke was a great showman - I doubt many came away without enjoying the show.
  4. The Athletic were reporting that Spurs and Everton were interested in KWP in the summer. Not saying he’s off but it’s plausible and I could see it happening if we had a more than reasonable bid come in.
  5. Ultimately I think Boris will only go if someone relatively credible sticks their head up and makes it clear they're interested in the job. I doubt they'll get to the number of letters needed to trigger a vote of no confidence without it, but if they did then I still think he'd pass unless it was clear that there was a decent alternative.
  6. Would be a shame if KWP left but can understand his frustration. Would have been interesting to see what a KWP/Livramento partnership down the right would have looked like. Don't know what Djed Spence is like but has only really been playing since he moved to Forest on loan - seems to have been linked with Spurs, Arsenal and Leeds but feels like an agent trying to drum up some interest. Was released by Fulham without making the first team, struggled to hold down a place in the Boro team and been sent out on loan. Could be a late developer though.
  7. Been impressed with Carvalho. Would be happy if we did bring him in.
  8. The difference is that the government created the laws that they themselves, it appears, broke multiple times.
  9. Realistically another season on loan is probably the best we can hope for but it’s always nice to dream. Even if he does go back after a season with a bigger reputation than he came here with then we’re still winners. Players in a similar situation will see we’re the right place to come to develop whether on loan or permanently and clubs like Chelsea will see us as good place to send kids to. Obviously I’d love to keep him but if it doesn’t happen then it’s still a sign that we’re on the right track
  10. If he thought it was a work event then he's a fool. Clearly he knew it wasn't but if his defence is to hide behind his own incompetence and lack of ability to see the bleeding obvious then it's a pretty pathetic defence.
  11. Gutted, the first opportunity we get to show we need investment in the team and we blow it. Fucks sake 😫
  12. Years ago I read a couple of histories of the Labour Party and the Conservative Party. At the start of each it listed what the party stood for - the labour one went on for half a page and all the things you'd expect - social justice, equality, redistribution of wealth, nationalisation etc etc. The conservative one just had the sentence, "The Conservative party stands for power". I think that's probably fairly right. The Tory party has flirted with ideology (Thatcher the most obvious example) but historically the tories haven't had many sacrificial lambs they weren't prepared to butcher on the altar of success at the ballot box. I guess fiscally prudent, small government, individualism, low taxation and a belief in market solutions are general Conservative principles.
  13. Yeah, it really depends on how the options are laid out. Australia had a shit alternative and it never got through - the alternative didn't replace the Monarchy with anything democratic. I think if someone is head of state and they owe their position to the hereditary process then that's a problem. There needs to be a fair, open and transparent process to appoint the best person for the job, they need to be accountable and there needs to be a process for removing them. I don't necessarily think we'd need to replace the monarchy with a president in the US or France sense. Why? You got a thing for blokes in donkey jackets Jamie? I ain't judging -whatever floats your boat.
  14. I'll refer to her anyway I choose to. Free country and all that. Obviously hit a nerve though for which I don't give a single tiny shit.
  15. I'm a republican not stupid. If there's a day off then I'll take it. There's nothing to suggest I have to celebrate Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gothe on that day but the rest of you lot can if you want. I've got better things to do.
  16. I did some YouTube scouting last night. Liam Delap looks a proper centre forward, pretty big but quick with it and good shot on him. Scores loads of goals but most of the clips show him at academy level when physically he can already bully defenders. The Macatee kid is a far more technical player, very similar to Foden in style but not as lightweight. Again hard to judge because it’s mostly academy level and he’s better than that. Mohamed-Ali Cho I wasn’t as impressed with but still looks a player. He’s quick and can turn defenders well if they get too tight. Doesn’t seem to have too many tricks as such but beats players with his pace. Unlike the other two he’s playing first team football and at 17 so understandable that he didn’t stand out as much. All three were impressive and if that’s what we’re looking at then it’s certainly the right direction. Would be delighted with any of them.
  17. Well it sounds like splitting heirs then (pun intended). Obviously we're not going to behead them, which is a shame cos it would be a big money maker. I'd do a lottery style televised event on a Friday night - guaranteed to get viewers in. Probably some wheel with all their names on it that you'd spin, and another with the method of execution. The actual execution goes out live on PPV the following Saturday. Anyway, never going to happen. Yeah, we'd need to actually write a constitution, reform the house of lords and all that.
  18. Yeah I'd replace them with nothing. That's democracy. Are you arguing that the Queen is an effective measure over granting the prime minister absolute power? In which case shouldn't we entrust it to someone who has better qualifications than simply who her parents were?
  19. We don't need to replace them with anything. We already have a democratically elected leader (OK I know the prime minister doesn't technically need to be an elected MP). Thing is that even if we did decide to have an elected ceremonial figure as president - they wouldn't need to have any constitutional powers. They can just be a figurehead if that's what people really want. I don't see the need for it but the beauty is that we can replace them whenever we get tired of them. We wouldn't have a Donald Trump because they wouldn't have any power (and you can argue we got our Trump with Boris anyway).
  20. Yep, they probably did and that's fair enough but it's an exception to the rule. At least as far as I know anyway. I guess you can argue that we're under valued when considering other prem clubs so perhaps there is a decent return to be made but I'm not sure there's the same room to increase our value in the same way picking up a league one club with a premier league stadium and fanbase was.
  21. Genuine question, and this is about any owners of football clubs so not specifically our new lot, but what's in it for them? I can understand the vanity project where some mega rich person just wants a bit of fun and I can understand the old school doing it for the community reasons, but when it's a commercial operation then is there really that much money to be made out of football? There's the old adage that if you want to make a small fortune out of football, start with a large one. That seems to still hold true - has anyone made serious wedge out of owning a club? I reckon we could probably get to the stage where we could get Europa League football every other season and we'd need to invest a bit to get there but maybe not huge amounts. Thing is that to stay at that level we'd need to reinvest anything we made (and Europa league isn't that lucrative anyway). Same goes with transfers - obviously there's money to be made by picking up good young players, developing them and selling at a big price but you have to factor in that not all of those good young players will make it so at least some of that profit will go on relatively over priced youngsters that didn't fulfil their potential. So, yeah, some money to be made but probably not that much. I guess if you're a success then you can recoup or make some money when you sell the club but none of this is screaming get rich quick. Maybe some of you can enlighten me because I genuinely don't understand why people want to own football clubs to make money. If I had that much money then I think I would set myself up as a bank and lend clubs the money rather than owning them - that seems far more lucrative. Anyway, I'm not knocking the new guys - they seem decent enough.
  22. You say that like it's a bad thing!
  23. Yeah, can't see it being any kind of factor, sorry. We're not even owned by a Serbian (technically) and presumably if he felt that strongly he would be asking to end the loan agreement and toddle off to the Albanian Republic of Chelsea. Incidentally Albania doesn't much like Russia either and yet it hasn't stopped him being either a Chelsea player or fan despite Abramovich. Chances are that Broja will either never meet Drajan or if he does then rarely. If he sees that it's the best move for his career, we have the cash and Chelsea are happy to sell then he'll sign. I doubt we'll ever get to that stage for other reasons but the Serbia / Albania thing won't be why.
  24. Personally can't see us making a "statement" signing but you never know. Certainly can't see Eriksen - good player but doesn't fit our style of play and too many risks + wages make it seem unlikely. If we do make a signing then I'd expect it to be another promising kid like Livramento. That seems like a good model to pursue and if we have a bit more in terms of funds then it'll strengthen our hands in negotiations. Broja would be superb although even now might be too expensive but I don't buy the Albania/Serbia thing - if the deal is right for both parties then it would happen. That Angers kid maybe? Seems like Dortmund (I think) is in negotiations but if we have the ability to go in and beat clubs like that to young talent then that's probably enough to call it a "statement".
  25. My christmas wish is for you to find God, go on, let him in to your heart. You know you want to really.
