CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Andy Durman replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
As I said before be patient -
We play 1-4-2-3-1. Mane sits behind Pelle. We never play 1-4-1-4-1. By the way there's no system 4-2-3-1. Why because there's a goalkeeper. When talking about system the GK must be included. We play with 11

So VVD is a player listed by Ronald that he wants. Les is in negotiation. It can't be quick or you will be taken to the cleaners. There also needs to be other targets. I have a feeling that VVD will shortly sign. -
These type of players are vital in a team. He is a worker, selfless, a team player. Watch how good his close control is. He doesn't score goals, because he can't generate the necessary power in his shot.

N No you make a lot sense

Yoshida is a very good reader of the game and his positioning is mostly excellent. His passing has vastly improved and he is usually first to the ball. This is the problem with Yoshida. Whilst he is first to the ball his clearances with header or kick are not always to safety. That's what he's got to work on. Get it out. Get it safe!! A clearance should not put us back into danger.

The result flatters us a bit. If they could finish the score could be very different. Clasie looks far to lightweight and injured himself making his one and only tackle. I don't see how he will fit in the Premier League. Pelle got a little lucky with his goal as the ball sat up just perfect as he hit it. Otherwise he had poor touch and didn't really contribute. Mane was the best player on the park and is our Nr 10. Tadic falls down to easily and moans to much. Targett, Cedric, Wanyama, Fonte, Davis, Mane, Stekelen were all excellent tonight. Mayo needs to learn how to get rid of the ball. Too many times he cleared to dangerous Positions.

I'll tell you about badly run club. Watford organized a pre season friendly with a German team. They organized a training camp in Germany, big hotel and only when they got out to the hotel, did they realize that the team they were playing was over 2hrs journey by coach. So they cancelled the friendly. Now that's a badly run club. -

We were never in for Chester and he doesn't meet our profile. Patience. Let Mr Reed do his job and judge him at the start of the new season. -
You obviously didn't see him in Austria. I think he's a good signing. I also think people are underestimating Gazzaniga. He will be an excellent keeper.

But Chester is only 1.77m or can somebody correct me. Van Dijk is 1.94m. We need presence on the pitch not minions -
Chester is too short to be our next centre back 1.77m.

Players Who Never Should Have Left Southampton
Andy Durman replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Saints
He's the one stand out for me. Never the same at Arsenal -
I watched him play 45 mins against RB Leipzig. It was the second half when we let in 4 goals in 10 mins. Only when he moved to left back and McCarthy moved into left centre back did we look organized again and we took control of the game. I can't say the four goals were his fault, but our left side was in chaos in these 10 minutes.

This deal was agreed before Schneiderlin was allowed to move.

1+1=2 Clasie will be a Saint by the end of the week. All the pieces will now fall into place.

Pleased this will be sorted quickly and we can all move on. MS had become too big for this club. I wish him well, but fear he may find playing week in and week out a thing of the past. Small fish in a big pond. Make or break time for him. -
The thing we don't give players is time. When you consider how Lallana and MS evolved it was over 4 seasons. JWP will be the next big player. Wanyama is arguably a better player than Morgan. I think his price tag is in excess of 20 million. McCarthy is so motivated that he can make it this season, but he needs to learn fast and he isn't the fastest. Jake Stephens could also step up. He looks very good on the ball.

M I didn't bother replying because I find it pointless. Everyone on here is a trainer/manager/tactical genius.
-
So Koeman gets all his players into Southampton and then leaves them. Somehow I don't think he's like that.
-
You would be right.
-
This is journalism at its worth. Ronald flew back with the team.
-
You don't need to be proved wrong. We don't need two holding midfielders. Having Scheiderlin and Wanyama was always a huge luxury defensively, but came at the expense of attack.
