  1. What bothers me is this strange locution in the Echo article: "the Daily Echo can this morning reveal". And the author refers to the image as a "masterpiece". Really?
  2. Amazing. I've just spent about twenty minutes checking it out. You can zoom in and out. Turn 360 degrees. Switch on a map to the left so that you can compare the photo image to the map. Very high resolution, too. Impressive. Thanks!
  3. Well, your assumption is wrong. Lennon "doesn't get away with it". I think it's generally acknowledged that the solo work of all four former Beatles is wildly uneven. Lennon's too. When you refer to the music on Double Fantasy, do you mean John's, Yoko's or both?
  4. But that's because (like Canada) the United States is a federal system.
  5. A good album, compared to some of the other dross that McCartney released as a solo artist. Because of that, however, it is over-rated, in my opinion. Still, several good tracks on there. And I don't uderstand how a "Beatkes fan" could have such a negative view of Ringo. He - and the others in the band - paid their dues over a long and exhausting decade. Nothing but respect from me - despite any failings he might show (nobody's oerfect, eh?!).
  6. The original statement: "Somebody was punched. Not Pardew." This means that Pardew was not the "somebody" who was punched. [Passive voice indicates the subject receiving the action.] If the intended meaning was that Pardew did not throw the punch, the original staement would have been: "Somebody was punched. But not by Pardew." HTH!

  8. Yes, called St. Edward's College. Located at Cheswardine Hall from 1950-1968.

  11. Do you listen to it for game commentary? It has connected to the Bournemouth game, instead of the Saints game, three times in the last four weeks. Today it had two commentaries running simultaneously! Took about 15-20 minutes to fix the problem.
  12. He grew up in Market Drayton. I went to school near there in the mid-60s.
  13. OMG! Back to the Bournemouth game!
  14. Cleared off the line from a Shrewsbury corner.
  15. Just got this from "customer services": "Thank you for contacting us, We apologise for the errors with today’s commentary. Problems have occurred at the radio station; they are attempting to amend them. Sorry for the inconvenience caused." Kind Regards Web Support
  16. One commentary only now, but the wrong one!
  17. UK is only four hours ahead of us 'til tomorrow.
  18. Nice. I've got lots of his albums. My favourite is The Confessions of Dr. Dream and Other Stories.
  19. Alleluia, we're at the Notts County game, not Bournemouth's. COYS!
  20. On the first day of issue I picked up the new Lennon boxed set, which has nearly all of his solos albums - remastered. Been listening to a lot of those CDs. Some wildly uneven stuff in there, but brings back lots of great memories.
  21. Just three?! OMG! Casablanca The Bridge on the River Kwai if ....
  22. Yes, agreed. But, let's say you paid a newsagent to deliver The Independent to your house each day, and on Thursday they delivered The Sun, would you point out the error? And if you did let them know, and on Friday they delivered the wrong paper again, would you resign yourself, or would you let them know again? Should the newsagent learn from the mistake and correct the problem, or should the error be ignored because it's only a bit of money that you're paying?
  23. It's not moan, moan, moan. I am happy with most of what SaintsPlayer offers. This is a specific moan: for two weeks in a row, they had to be told that they had connected Saints fans to the Bournemouth game, instead of the Southampton game. That's a crucial mistake, don't you think? And not having the pre-game discussion and interviews, but starting their coverage two minutes before kick-off - that's a crucial mistake too, don't you think?
  24. I wrote to them on Saturday during the game. Got the same response as CanadaSaint: "I can confirm that the correct commentary is now playing." I emailed them back immediately saying that I did not need them to "confirm" that the correct commentary was playing because I already knew that. I was listening to it, FFS! I asked them to "confirm" to me that this problem (two weeks in a row) would not happen again. Surely they would have learned from the previous error and not do it again. You'd think so, but apparently not.
