  1. Match Stats on SP has Saints with 67% possession.
  2. Good, long cross-field pass to Puncheon from Lambert.
  3. Sounds like we have a competitive midfield today.
  4. Good movement across the front - in the front third, say commentators.
  5. Lambert back defending the Swindon corner.
  6. Swindon gets their first corner.
  7. Merrington: it's 4-3-1-2 for Saints.
  8. Third corner is over-hit. "Bright and aggressive start".
  9. Second corner for Saints comes to nothing.
  10. Saints' first corner. Ball hits the bar. Martin almost scores with header.
  11. Saints have started well, say commentators.
  12. Puncheon just behind the front two.
  13. Today's favourite commentator word: fillip. COYS!
  14. Instead of getting that D60 kit (camera + lens), I would recommend getting the D90 body (no lens) and buying separately the Nikkor 24-120 mm zoom lens with VR (vibration reduction).
  15. Even more important is the distinctive Christian message to love your enemy. "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you". [Matthew 5:44]
  16. The minister announces at the funeral, "Would anyone have a few words of eulogy to say about the departed". An admirer of the deceased gets up and begins, "I only knew Alan for a short while ..." But he is cut short when someone yells from the back, "He's dead, get over it". Another person pipes up, "Well, in the interest of balance, could I just point out what a ***** he was sometimes". "Yeah", shouts a man from the back, "what's with the sycophantic crap". The minister rolls his eyes and thinks, "Oh dear, why do I bother? People just don't understand the point of a eulogy these days. And I thought these people were friends and family?"
  17. I'm surprised nobody has started one yet, so let me take the initiative. Here's a place, then, to express positive thoughts on the many good things that Alan Pardew did for the club during his short period here. If you have nothing positive to contribute, please save the negative vibes for other more appropriate threads. Meanwhile, I'd like to take the lead by acknowledging the excellent job Pardew did in revitalising the squad. He and his back-room team brought in a great group of players (whether or not they have yet to fully demonstrate their potential here). He also improved the play of several chronic under-performers. From the beginning of his tenure at Saints, Pardew emphasised the need to establish a winning mentality amongst the team, and by the end of last season he certainly succeeded in that task. Pardew also excelled in communicating with the fans via the press. He was an articulate bloke, and always focused on the key issues of the moment with honest opinions and a refreshing lack of the usual "gaffer" cliches. Presumably, he did the same in communicating with the players. Of course, nobody's perfect, and in retrospect one could suggest a fair number of "if onlys" and "what ifs". But overall he has a lot to be proud of. Your positive thoughts about Mr. Pardew?
  18. I used to follow the Toronto Guided Missiles, but got bored with their ever-so typical tactics.
  19. Given the situation that the club is in at the moment, it doesn't really seem that surprising that we'd lose in this fashion today. The players must still be in shock at what's happened. Some must be disillusioned; most must be dispirited. The team must be just as full of doubt and uncertainty as the fans. Not to mention that Lallana's out injured for an indefinite period and Lambert, apparently, has not shaken off his injury properly. It's also not surprising that many fans on here have gone into a major meltdown. Just read some of the hysterical stuff that's been posted on here today. We need to calm down, wait patiently, and see what's in store. Never a dull moment, though, eh?!
  20. Dalek just had a heart attack - he read that as 'gather round a hoddle'.
  21. Finally, some words of sanity. Most of the other stuff on this thread really takes the biscuit.
  22. Some people say ... It has been said ... There are those that think ... It has been brought to my attention that ... Those in the know have been saying ... Rumours are circulating that ... etc., etc.
  23. Everything going to pot, then?
  24. There was an article in today's paper about the fortieth anniversary re-release of Miles Davis' *****es Brew. I am a big fan of his earlier stuff (especially the "cool" period - mid-to-late 50s), but I find this seminal jazz-rock fusion album virtually unlistenable. Every once in a while I'll give it another try, but never seem to make it to the end! Anybody a fan of *****es Brew? Sorry about those asterisks - it's that bloody swear-filter that's at fault. Bastard! [Oooooh! Bastard is OK!]
