  1. Not often I agree with your posts thats why i dont comment on them but this one is pretty much spot on.
  2. If we cant try different things when we are winning well in a cup that is not our priority when will we learn. Hopefully we did learn from today.
  3. Here it from the poppy 10 thread I spoke to David Luker about it and he,or they, came up with the Help for Hero's - in conjunction with a family activity day??? not sure really.... I would of thought if we were going for this we could maybbe have got the old RAF dog display team and the red devils or something but hey ho!!!.... anyway spoke to corporate fundraising at the british legion (I was trying to encourage the BL to contact the club in a bid to get the poppy on the shirts) but they said they wanted a staggering £15000 to reproduce the poppy on the shirts.... she said the PR branch may sanction this and no fee is payable but it seems to be a bit of a mess really. THe SPL had a blanket deal with the Scotish British legion ( a totally seperate organisation to the British Legion) last season and can't see why the FA and FL could n't just sign up wholeheartedly to this cause. I willphone the Football league and FA tomorrow to see what there stance is but not sure why the club are so keen to decide not to do the poppy shirts unless it due to the 15K.... answers please Mr Luker (I know you read this or you will hear of this post!!)
  4. It was quoted in another post that it cost 15K to get the shirts with poppies on them and thats why the club are not doing it this year. I did not mean a poppy and a pin!
  5. Years ago everyone wore black arm bands on the game closest to 11th but Poppies on shirts over took this. So it might be this. As i was driving home today there was a debate on talk sport about top level clubs wearing poppies on their shirts and how (i think) liverpool and man u are not doing it. I thought about us not doing it (I know it is different as our game is not shown all over the world) and whether we should. My view for a club like us (game not being shown all over the world) is if it costs £15K to put poppies on shirts why not give half that amount to RBL. I don't think this years £10 for military goes far enough. All just my view.
  6. Anto is ace sign him up before he gets too expensive.
  7. Perhaps but on a weekly basis I think we are more of a family club but could be me living in my own little happy world!
  8. AP must have his reasons but to a novis like me it looks like a traditional 442 is the way ahead!
  9. I love the banter and really want them to fail but not go bust as it would be boring. I don't think there is any place in football for the violence or threats and those who do think there is have their own problems and really are not that smart. I think we have less of a violence following than poopey and I am proud of that. I am far too old for man points, I like being known as a family club.
  10. I would rather we stayed under the radar until May
  11. I think we are over cooking this arguement! Yes we should remember our history and that many many people died for our current way of life. Also it is not just about the 2 World Wars but also the current conflicts where many young people are being killed on a regular basis. It is important that we do something and this is a step in the right direction. We will all be wearing poppys and that is the main thing. I can understand the club not spending £15000 on shirts (perhaps they could donate £5000 which would help). It is interesting to see that this year it is going to Help the heroes not the RBL. I know Help the Heroes is a good cause but a lot of the smaller military charities are being eaten up by them. This is a very serious post for me on a Saints chat.
  12. I called the ticket office about this. I wanted to know how I could get a ticket if I needed to show my id in person or could they post them to me. Reason being it is tricky for me to get to the ticket office as like a lot of people in the military i work away mon-fri. This game is a bonus for me as i go to one a month so I have mangaged to get the wife to agree to this one as well!!
  13. I agree with you
  14. Thanks weststand, i thought I was the only person who did not see this!
  15. My view is that we are building a team to go up in the automatic places next year, but if things go well we could sneak and it would be a sneak into the play offs this year. i would be happy with a 10th finish with a good squad built for next year. However next season may not be a walk over league especially (i know there are problems with them) if Notts County come up with money. But the atmosphere at saints seems great already and we have not set the world alight!
  16. I think he is doing very well for us and i would like him to stay. However, everyone will slate him if leaves for the PL. But who would not if they get what could possibly be there only chancy to play in the top league. As much as i have supported saints all my life if I got offered to go to the PL I would think about it. I don't think it is about money, I think it would be a manager (i.e Mick Mc Carthy and Surman) saying you could play against manu arsenal ect. I really wish we that we don't slate young people that want to leave. But I think there is away to go about it, for example compare Crouch and beatie. All they need to say is come out say they are moving for the right reasons.
  17. He is an example of why football is so great. If you watch certain clips of him he looks like he has never played the game especially with the off side rule! He reminds me of Wanchop who never looked like he ever had the ball under control but always came away with it. Against Gills it was like he learnt the game in an hour, in the first 20 mins he was like a fish out of water (a bit like when Kenwyne came on at RM against pompey) but he settled down and looked good. He could be good for us, but we will be very frustrated at times with him but it will be worth it.

  20. Sorry for being late but i have been working away, it did make smile too! All looks good!
  21. Has anyone looked where 15 points would put us!! We can get close to the play offs, not sure we will get there but it could be close!
  22. A good read about are take over it does say we are debt free and a few other good snipets. It is a inteview with Nicola Cortese, sorry if it has already been posted. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/09/back_from_the_brink_southampto.html#146591

  24. Did Connelly make the bench?
  25. Glad he is doing well, i think we should play him when we can, if we don't know what he is going to then what chance the opposition got. But he will be frustrating at times. He just does not look like a footballer when is running with the ball, but he is doing ok for us.
