  1. Steve Bulls younger brother was the guy at the front.
  2. I took my lad to watch the training then went onto the forum. Jaidi is enormous up close...Papa looked lively but a bit erratic but very keen, Lallana was the most skilfiul, Bart looked a very good shot stopper and better than the last few games where he had missed most. I have seen 4 previous forums and believe me this was the best. I was told a couple of things about Pardew but trust me this guy knows his stuff and although on a full charm offensive his answers and honesty were so refreshing. Perry, O Callaghan and the guy from the Saints Trust all asked questions and were handled very diplomatically but firmly by the Radio Solent guy and AP. A couple of things off air....Holmes is playing for the Ressies tomorrow at Reading to get more match fitness. We are looking at someone from Newport...which was a response from someone asking about whether we looked at non-league players. I think Pardew is keen to do more of these as he said to the BBC guy we could do a whole evening show.
  3. I think this is better on a different thread as this is about tonites forum and will be interesting to hear Mr Lowe's letter writer in action again ;-) I don't agree about your thoughts about our midfield 2 on Saturday - Hammond was the best player on the pitch IMO. He was everywhere and if he could finish some of the chances that come his way we will have a superb player. Our problem on Saturday was that we didn't have anyone for Morgan to pass to....Lambert was heavily marked - Saga was next to useless and we had no width for Morgan to ping the ball wide to. I watched Lallana for about 10 minutes before half-time and he was tucked in behind Lambert or in the centre and offering no width at all. James spent most of the first half camped in front of Thomas and the only crosses that came in were from about 10 yards inside their half and so easy to defend against. We are far too narrow and have no room to play.
  4. The first one yes...the second one evens up the Stockport one it was handball but not deliberate. There have been many occasions when we should of had penalties in the last few years and not given and some givenj that were dodgey. Yesterday was our day and Yeovil can feel aggrieved by the decisions.
  5. There was a Killer moment in the first half....the ball was played to the 18 yard line just by Jaidi who crashed in to a Yeovil forward taking the ball clean as a whistle leaving him in a heap! Thats the Jaidi zone and a very rare crunching tackle witnessed from a Saints centre half since we lost Michael.
  6. Exactly...I will also add that we have sat and watched this club fall from top 4 beating Portsmouth 3-0 at home on Dec 21st 2003 WGS mystery hip operation through to the heartbreak of relegation with Redkrapp. To then sell any player that gave us any excitement on the pitch. We have followed that with a penalty shoot out loss in a play-off semi-final to then through the Burley debacle - Dodd/Gorman - on to the farce and comical Dutch revolution. We saw 7 pathetic loans last year and further relegation - administration -10 points and a difficult start. Is this wrong for me to have a little ray of hope that a signing will actually bring us some decent displays after all the last 5 years have thrown at me for being a Saint fan?
  7. Thats fair enough but 4 was a bit harsh IMO as he made some good contributions when he was on. I would struggle to give anyone an 8 yesterday apart from Hammond.
  8. He also won a few headers when he came on and put in a few good challenges. Come on we know he is no Beckham but 4?? Lets not go down the route of marking because he is not liked. When he does a good job lets mark him properly. I agree totally with your MOM as Hammond was everywhere and doing the job he was bought to do. Saga was abysmal...when will we have a striker that can understand that Lambert actually wins 90% of the flicks ons and gambles. Cheated for the penalty......poor game from him and at least Waigo gives us an outlet by hitting it in the channels for him to use his pace. I worry he maybe another BWP though with no football brain to look along the line but it was his first home game and just a bit too eager to impress. We won but played poor but solid some good headeing by Trotman and Jaidi means we can now actually compete. Now we need a winger to deliver to Lambert.
  9. kicking off in Boogies was a regular occurance....just like its predecessor .
  10. Does anyone know what the follow on target is???
  11. I am due to meet Lawrie next week....I will let you know if he is rude or not!
  12. 31st ;-)
  13. Well do you expect them to actually come out and say it ? I don't....plenty who will load the gun but expect others to fire the bullet on here. I do not expect 3 points on Saturday but still wont be calling for Pardews head yet...I think he has until November to get us sorted - we were in that big a mess.
  14. Then look harder.....there are a few....here is a clue search threads by Charlie Wayman!
  15. [quote=Thedelldays;450681 in the real world....we are poor and (by all accounts) getting better...time to start winning and get rewards that this (expensive) team deserve ....and the fans!!!
  16. It will happen.....the consequences of it not are not worth thinking about. Had that one incident in injury time not had happened at Stockport then things would not look so black as now. We simply have to beat Yeovil otherwise this place will be be twinned with the Samaritans.
  17. well I wouldn't know as I am an uber fan and go to matches ;-)
  18. As usual you ignore what was written ....how things unfold...what in a week!! Read the post FFS!!
  19. Thats fair enough but Alp you do yourself no favours at all with the way you change with the wind. You went to the Birmingham game and I remember your quote " I can go back to Austria knowing we are heading in the right direction" as I echoed those sentiments that night. However no less than 1 week later you had reverted back to the old whingeing whining by forecasting doom and gloom! It will take time to get over the Dutch revolution and the problems that caused right throughout the club.
  20. What makes me laugh is the way morons keep bringing up the Swindon game and dismiss all the improvements made since then! Yes we should beat Yeovil.....Man Utd should of beaten us in 76!!! Not everything is straightforward in football.

  22. So where does he play? I like Hammond and think he has solved a number of problems we had, height, mobility, does the simple things well and mobile. To compliment him we need a passer and the frustrating Schneiderling fits that bill if fit and willing. James did pretty well when he played there but is not a creator and nor is Gillett, yes Gillett gets stuck in but his lack of height in this league is a problem . To sign the leagues top scorer but then deny him the service he needs is where are problems lie IMO not with the dropping of a very ordinary footballer.
  23. does it really matter how he scores??? in of his right buttock cheek from a defender clearing will do for me if it gives us 3 points.
  24. I wrote something similar the other day - our club as a whole is rife with nice, ball playing competant youngsters. All pretty decent and some with a fair amount of ability and very promising....but when they come up against the physical teams we get clobbered. I know quite a few in the youth set ups and still we are recruiting the small, lightweight decent lads, we should be looking for far bigger, physical lads to match the divisions we will be in for a few years. Recently we have had too many of the Whites, Lancashires, Boyle, Gasmi, Thomson type and not enough of the Baseya and Kenwynne physiques.
  25. Exactly...that is my whole point...nothing to do with expectations just based purely on what we had available and how Burleys pathetic team selections and tactics cost us automatic promotion. That has nothing to do with fans...its to do with Burley's half arsed approach to the job and abysmal management here.
