On a day when the Rosebowl is basked in glorious sunshine....Headingley and the ODI is abandoned due to waterlogged pitch. Yet another brilliant decision by the numpties!
-
Yeah its not as if the 150 takeover/non-takeover threads on here are enough to discuss that is there? Or the constant Lowe/Anti-Lowe threads that get posted every 2 minutes? Lets only have those threads over and over again.....
-
Perhaps the previous board did not want to sell at the price someone offered and try and fix the issues they had created?
-
I see the usual idiots infect this thread with their pathetic sexist jokes. Saints girls still have thriving academy and junior teams run by Peter Thorne a very good coach. The Saints have several teams that play in the Winchester and District Girls League and are quite successful. One of the girls that plays for my team on Saturdays has played for Saints last year and is off to them next is absolute quality and a match for most boys of her age. There is no comparison between skill level but the enjoyment, committment and team game is as strong and in many cases far better than the boys. I do not think any money should be diverted from the new owners if we have them as the priority must be to channell everything into the first team until we can get back to the Premiership and then possibly revisit this again.

It was not a stick to beat him with but to point out that Wilde/Hone/Wilde were not alone in bad transfer deals as pointed out in John B post. Wilde/Hone/Crouch also bought in Wright, Lucketti, Perry, Cork, Bennett.... I have championed the academy set up by Lowe for many years but this was ruined by Lowes obsession with seeing youth only and ruining and setting back many of the youngsters he bought through the academy.
-
Great post and exactly on the same wavelength as you. Lowe did not need to come back personally and could of employed a proper CEO who would of paid for himself with cost cuts and directing the money more wisely than he did. We employed 4 Dutchmen so the money was there.
-
Have a look through certain posters and use of the word Pikey!! Not 19C by the way.
-
That is just unbelievable..... Can you remind me who was chairman when we signed Delap, Delgado, Neil McCann, Van Damme?

The academy set up under Lowe was excellent and a great plan to supplement the first team. We would of been stuffed earlier without the Theo and Bale money. We had some great coaches Prost, Henderson and the guy who left to work at the FA whose name escapes me but he was superb. Always ready for a chat and the youth worked really well with him. Where it all went wrong IMO was Lowes obsession to see the team full of academy kids only. I will never forget or forgive Redknapp for setting those kids up for that league cup game and slaughtering them after for it. He used them to get back at Lowe and set some of them back ages. Some of the claims that we had the best academy was overblown but we had some great youngsters at that time. I watched them regularly at Staplewood and the pace and movement was amazing, we had strength, movement and a plan - something I have not seen in the last 2 years of watching them. OK we may be in a lull of players coming through but what we did have were put in far too early last season and crucified when they were not ready. All part of Lowes obsession and refused to see that balance was needed. Lowe should be praised for his early work in setting it up but its a great shame he destroyed that by pushing them all forward far too early.

You just dont get the fact that not everyone sees him as satan...there are many of us who can see him for what he is and judge by his results - 2 relegations and administration. Loaning out 3 strikers and employing a team of 4 Dutch jokers only may have been a factor in lower crowds and results! Many of us think Wilde was as responsible if not more but the bit in bold cracks me up! He's not the Messiah he is a naughty boy! You keep peddling the shocking fact that we sold out for the Man U game....amazing that Southampton and surrounding area is full of plastics! No-one is saying that the 9k extra attendance all returned due to Lowe going but even you cannot ignore the fact that there was more in the ground when he had gone and more harmony and all in it together than when old rosey cheeks was here.
-
Yet another poor club has gone into administration today - Chester City. Its going to be the same for quite a few this summer
-
Did we not have near gates of 25k since he left...just cant accept the fact your idol has gone can you......balance fence sitter my ars8 you had no need to mention him but do so at every opportunity.

To be honest I dont think we need to spend millions, I am not one who will complain if the guy who buys us only has 10 milion rather than 100 million. What I think is important is that we get a good manager that knows what is needed in this division. Someone that can beg, borrow and loan players that will do a job. Last season our loans were a joke and Wotte has bought in 1 player from his country. I totally agree we need this all sorting quickly so we can take advantage of players that are being released like Murty and Duberry.

Dont we all...you can tell by the postings on here in the last week things are very fraught amongst the fanbase. I have spent the last week laid up in hospital after a knee op and my f5 key is as worn out as my old knee. I just hope we don't end up with another Wilde, Lowe or Crouch and can move onwards and upwards. All most of us want is to go to SMS and not worry about boardroom, chairman, PLC but just who is playing that week and why we haven't bought that 20 goal a season striker yet.

I am sure GM will be balanced in his assassination of the preffered bidder..if we get one. Expect addresses, telephone numbers and how much they earnt last year in the first 20 minutes of it being announced. ;-)
-
Are you serious? How much would it of cost 12 months ago and how much now? Does SISU ring a bell?
-
But that wasnt posted as a rumour and you know that, it had quotes from Fry etc and you posted that on here without a link knowing who had posted that and where it had come from. Well done you and Swanie had me going lets I just hope you are wrong and we have a club.
-
Turn your ****ing phone off and wait for official confirmation from the proper source you are making yourself look a right plum.
-
True but there were quotes attibuted to Fry - I went in search of these on usual places and couldnt find a thing anywhere. This comes from Carsten Janker poster so guess he will have his box of tissues and trousers round his knees thinking he has us all jumping....great fun.

No he hasnt will give you a copy of the thread the other day that was nearly 90% bull when I find it. I sincerely hope this is true to form. Here you are From 606 (rocketswanie who I believe has posted here before) 1. Fry is making money everyday that we are in admin so the "buyers" would need to pay a fee for his work too, fact not guess work 2. Option of concerts to make money have been wiped after residents within the area petitioned against it for noise. 3. The 2 bids recieved, thats right just 2 bids placed, have fallen way short of the valuation. 4. The highest offer recieved is £3.8m 5. The club actually fear that they will go under in days and not weeks! 6. Le Tiss has made an offer but it has lots of "if's" included which have put the offer out of the window 7. Fry was quoted as saying they can only hope that someone who has more money than most, comes in with an offer as it is likely that those who are making offers will not be able to put any money into the team or current squad meaning likely relegation to league 2 straight out as they wont have the resources to make the club stable for league 1. 8. Fry has a footballing friend who has shown an interest but is put off by the work All the above are true facts. Im not going to share how I know but trust me when I say my/your/our beloved club could be more likely to fold than to take part in any League next year, unless as we feared someone comes in with the offer we need to get this club off the floor in the next 24hours. I believe this to be correct.

Profit would be good..... My heart hit my boots....its just coming back up and trying to digest what that means.

People called Rasiak and Stern useless lazy lumps but they scored plenty for us! As we know there is not the gulf between CCC and League 1 that there is between CCC and Prem but we will need to do what no manager has apart from Pearson...that is bring in suitable players for the division we are in. Lucketti, Perry and Wright were exactly what we needed, Pericard failed but can see why he was loaned given his size. We need to get our squad sorted almost as soon as we have the gren light with a board - we cannot waste another pre-season like the last few years. Thats why I would like Wotte replaced or someone else bought in alongside like Cotteril and Boothroyd they have contacts aqnd know what to buy in this division. Apart from Size who has Wotte bought in that was of any help?

Funnily enough Nick thats exactly what we have had all season, really since big Cedric went we have not had the physical presence up front or elsewhere. If you look at the make up of our Ressies most are very good technical players but none have that extra muscle needed to compete when it gets physical. Paterson isn't exactly the robust centre forward but the best we have and will do Ok if treated better this season. We do have pace in Thomson and White etc but not very strong. Football is a game of opinions...I thought last night was a very physical game...others didn't fair play. I still believe to succeed next season we will need to be physically stronger defensively, a good right back(Fish/Molyneux at left back), Lloyd/Gillet plus one other battler in the middle and pace out wide. We need a big lump up front who can battle and win the ball in the air. 90% of successful teams have that set up in the lower divisions.
