You do know Euell is out injured for months along with Thomas don't you?
-
So if we don't have any money why sign Gasmi and Pulis? Why did we not use that money for more experience when it is bloody obvious these very talented kids need help? Sorry if that reads aggressive its not meant that way just I am baffled why we signed Pulis even if he is on £500 a week that could be used elsewhere plus agents fees etc.

Apologies to the people who were sceptical and or negative
Give it to Ron replied to saint_stevo's topic in The Saints
Listening to him on the radio this morning it seems JP has realised what most have been saying all pre season he sounded as though he had enough and was lost. We need experience to go along with the youth - to gamble the whole season on Killer being fit at the back was ludicrous. Thomas and several of the senior pros were told they were "surplus to requirements" so is it any wonder things look bleak not exactly great for morale. We cannot keep playing the skint card...we have to find a solution quick get in some loans like we did with Lucketti or Delldays will have nothing to keep on about people enjoying the CC every other post as we will be on our way to League 2 with Bournemouth after points deductions. -
Or stuck with Sturrock for more than the opening 2 games of the season - his record here was pretty good....compared to Wigley etc and we only needed 2 more wins!!! Its all hypothetical though Nick isn't it....who knows whether Hoddle could of turned this club round he didn't do so well at Wolves with double the money he would of had here. Edit: wait for the resident Norwich nutjob

But no-one does the after match moan as good as Redkrapp...he has years of experience at it. It brightened up my day to see old saggy chops moaning again.

I thought Wotton was very good on Saturday and along with Lallana my MOM although to be fair Barnsley were crap but you can only do your job. He rollocked McGoldrick several times for lack of effort. I think he will prove all the doubters on here wrong....again.

Some very good points here but....there are loads of people who have been going for years that have supported the club through thick and thin that have now just had enough. Many like me have a couple of season tickets and shout, sing , swear and encourage as much as they ever did but even that is now dwindling away and thinking of packing it all in as its too painful to watch the dross on display. I have mates that used to bleed red and white ST holders who just can't take any more of games like Saturday - we all have kids that play Tyro and to be honest its better watching them now. Its not the young players fault they are honestly trying as hard as they can but need help and support from more experienced players than we have now. I know we are skint and facing Admin etc but if we go down we will anyway - we have trimmed down the wage bill dramatically and virtually have nothing left to sell but also have lost the one thing you need in this league is experience we need somehow to get in loans from somewhere to help out. It has not gone unnoticed in my eyes the fact that the only other club mainly playing kids is Palace and they are just above us. The only thing that will bring the crowds back is a winning team - lower prices will help but how long will that last if we stay near the bottom? I honestly believed that our main problem before was that being a PLC we forgot the main thing at this football club is the first team and went off on tangents like radio stations, insurance etc. The one thing we need now is to concentrate on the first team again and pull every resource we have into getting that right and winning again and the rest...fans and additional revenue will increase if the main product is right at the moment its not.

No the committment and energy were there at times just the skill factor was missing. On Saturday I lost count of the number of times a pass was not within ten yards of its recipient.

Derby were top of the CCC at times in the play off year....we beat them 3-2 away - we can all make stats read what you want them to. The fact still remains that I would rather we be in the Premiership and competing against the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal etc. On a match day I go to games now not worrying so much that we are facing a Ronaldo, Rooney or a Walcott but facing star names like Odejayi and that I feel we have more of a chance of winning which will make all of us happy - even give some a boner ;-)
-
Yet another poster with selective reading...I said that I would rather we be in the premiership and hate the fact that we are financially screwed being out of it. I said that I just like the fact that every game we have a chance in the CCC not that I prefer it. Yes we OCCASIONALLY did beat Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd but in the 27 years how many times did we actually do it away?...although it was very sweet when we did. If you get a boner from Saints winning then I think you maybe you need to find a life!!

Are you saying that no club ever gets thrashed then? We have beaten the league leaders in this league away and given some good teams a thrashing and your point is what? The whole point is no-one really enjoys our club being in the state it is and we have continued to sell any half decent player we have and never ever done whats required in this league and thats get a defence sorted equipped for this division. If we went up now and after yesterday that is light years away we would never compete and until we get someone in willing to invest big time we will get thrashed quite regularly in this league let alone the premiership. Some people enjoyed the fact we were able to be a big boy for a few seasons and had a chance but GB and the board ****ed that up and its the supporters who are left with the consequences.
-
I enjoy the fact that every game we stand a chance of winning.....unlike the Premiership when away at Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal we never and got battered many times was that enjoyable?. I do not enjoy the fact that being out of the Premiership means we are financially destitute to the fact that our team and squad are now decimated to the extent that we are playing 8 or 9 kids and even struggling now to even compete with Barnsley. Why do you find that difficult to understand that and feel the need to question other people views other than yours every other day? Would I rather us be in the Premiership ...too bloody right! Do I enjoy this league? Yes I do when we have a team that can compete but the Burley mess and total mismanagement of the club by Lowe, Wilde and Crouch and all the cronies involved over the last 5 years means the supporters are suffering and constant sniping by people like you doesn't help. Some like it here in the CCC why can't you accept that.

Agree with Um's markings and thoughts but would add this...until we have a defence and midfield that learns to mark players when we don't have the ball we will get steam rollered. The second goal was not Kelvins fault or even Surmans it was the fact that Garvan(7) was allowed to stroll round all night without one of our players even getting within 10 yards of him, for the goal he just strolled through the middle, ran at our defence and was allowed to roll the ball wide for the cross. All night the middle 3 Ipswich midfield were never picked up - the guy with the bandage on his head never had anyone challenge him at all whether he played up the middle, wide or when they pushed him on Surman and hit high balls at him. For 4 years now this club has not had a defence and its been a shambles of mismatch, patching up and make do's - until someone with a bit of balls looks up and builds the foundation from the back we will be relegation fodder. As for Stern....he worked harder than some games but when you are told your surplus to requirements it doesn't do much for your morale! Also how many times was he alienated on his own against 3 defenders and no-one within 20 yards and all our midfielders on the half way line? Our problem is we are crap at the back...the midfielders hardly attack the box for fear of a quick breakaway against our fragile back 4 which leaves the strikers battling alone - one runs wide and delivers a cross to one man in the box and maybe one midfielder against 6 defenders. We were lucky last night that Magilton wasn't brave enough to throw on another attacker but just replaced one for one.

That must be true given the fact that I was in Portsmouth yesterday near Gunwarf and Southsea and was surprised at all the Pompey Cup Final Winners 2008 T shirts I saw when the game was actually on......bandwagon jumpers surely not!

We had a few hours to kill waiting for a ferry so took my lad to Boy in the Striped Pyjamas as times were wrong for Dark KNight. I think the rating of 12a is far too lenient on this as the last scenes were pretty harrowing - nothing gory, blood thirsty but the ending...boy I haven't seen so many adults and kids cry in a cinema since Bambi! Great film, superbly acted but left me feeling a bit emotionally drained and certainly wouldn't recommend it to u15s.

You wait until you try and cancel the Setanta package like my parents are trying to do at the moment....they are not alone! http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1105281 Luckily I get mine via Virgin Media

One of the things that impressed me was his ability to play the simple pass sometimes the kids try to do too much. He just gets it down and plays it simple. A big tall lad that has the makings of a good footballer IMO. Only downside is his tendency to give away too many free kicks but that will disappear from his game with coaching and experience.
-
I remember him and Bambi Cassells first game home to Liverpool Wright was abysmal...not surprisingly given the opposition that day. Ig memory servers me right we lost 3-2 to Whelan winner.

I was sure there was a rule about u18 and only being able to sign for 2 years but having searched here http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesAndRegulations/Additional/Postings/2005/11/Section_C_rules.htm cant seem to find it.

Not really you are far better listening to it at home .....you get a non influenced views by what you hear rather than what you see type of experience ;-)

Just had a knee Op that will sideline him for a bit. Just for info .....Cork and Lancashire played alongside each other the other week against Bristol City Reserves against Steve Brooker a battling ram of a striker and Lee Trundle. They did Ok although we were beaten 4-2 we missed several sitters and 2 of the goals were long range efforts. Lancashire did well in the air and Cork looked very good playing the ball out of defence.

Yet having said all that anti-stuff you still post here? You are either: a) a masochist b) 3 and throwing your toys out of the pram because you can't get your way c) wimp hiding behind anonymity of a keyboard I will never understand why people constantly whinge about a forum and then continue to post....do one of two things. 1. Set up your own and moderate it how you like 2. Don't ever go on it as what you don't know can't hurt or upset you. I used to post on the old UI site a lot until it got infected by the unclean lot now I hardly ever post or read it.

Did you hear that there was an explosion in Goldsmith Avenue PO this morning and caused a £1million worth of improvements?
-
The main problem was we never did change to a manager...we did what we always do and went for the cheap option of appointing the coach/es above their station. If we had appointed a proper manager and at that time there were better options then we may not have had to endure games like Bristol Rovers!!!
