I wouldn't swap our great start to this season for a league cup and possible relegation. Although our lack of squad depth screwed us, the latter half of last year was one of the best times I ever had as a Saints fan of over 40 years.......I have belief in our possibilities for now.....I won't swap that for anything!

100% of the first 11 coming from the academy is pure fantasy. If I'm honest, our current number of academy players in the first team is scary/wonderful/frightening/exquisite/disturbing/fantastic. Mostly fantastic though.

Best time to give Sam a start IMO. The win is not crucial to us, but this would be a real character builder for the lad.

This game will give us a very good idea of the owner/manager intentions. For me, given our league status this should be a game for our strongest possible team. Any weakened team would be an extreme disappointment for me.

Players are worth what they are worth. Smokers or not. Some players might be worth less because of how their smugness affects their game.

My point was, that talent is probably more important than fitness in many situations. Osvaldo is supposed to be a lone striker. (Read goal hanger) Skill is key. Fitness is important, but can you dump anyone who is 1% less fit?

I have no clue about what happened in today's game, but Sam has looked promising ever since he came on my radar. I really should get a rag and clean that radar screen off.

Connolly was a good player for us when we were in the position that we were in. Now, being even older, he is a good player for the position that Poopey are in...........I think Poopey will age at a quicker rate than Connolly.

I totally understand the objection of some people regarding fitness issues. However, I think that on most occasions, their objections are based more on their usual objections to smoking in other areas of life. Smokers or not, these players are highly trained in fitness, but more importantly, they need natural talent, a good skill set and commitment. Who is to say that any mental relief that a player might get from smoking may or may not offset the minor lack of fitness that he has? I agree and understand that smoking is bad for one's health, but what about mental attitude? Maybe Osvaldo would smack less players if he were allowed to smoke while actually playing?....A facetious question, yes, but honestly, I think that the anti-smoking brigade is somewhat myopic.
