  1. I posted two examples there. Guly is undoubtedly a class player but he's way too inconsistent and last night was a dreadful performance.
  2. You what? Guly gave the ball away constantly, his touch was terrible. At one point he passed the ball to a Cardiff player when there wasn't a Saints player within 30 yards. He had a great chance as a ball came into the box but, instead of attacking it, waited for it to come to him and fell over trying to volley it. Hooiveld was class, can't think of one header he didn't win, made some great tackles, including a great last ditch sliding tackle in the area. His only mistake was the sloppy pass for the 2nd goal.
  3. Would like to see us line up with Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding Lallana Cork Hammond Fox De Ridder Lambert
  4. Steady on, it was a poor performance but I still firmly believe we have a side capable of mounting a promotion challenge. Could do without people writing us off after our first really poor performance of the season.
  5. Just got back, I think the word to sum up our performance would be sloppy. Lots of missed passes, bad touches, poor position and shoddy finishing cost us the game. In the first half we looked like we could have played for weeks and not come anywhere near to scoring, let in a very sloppy goal being hit on the break (although a massive shout for handball from their defender). Connolly was on the pitch far too long, he had an absolute shocker today. De Ridder came on and turned the game around in a matter of seconds, suddenly we looked dangerous and straight away created two great opportunities, one of which Morgan really should have scored. A poor pass from Jos cost us the 2nd goal, which is a shame because he had a really solid game apart from that. We looked really dangerous in the last 10 minutes but left it way too late. A stunning bit of control from De Ridder for his goal though. Davis - 6, could have been more decisive with the first goal. Richardson - 6, fairly solid but nothing special. Fonte - 6, got stuck in and made some great challenegs but a few positioning mistakes and sloppy passes. Jos - 7, would have been higher without the mistake for the second goal, looked really really solid and domineering. Fox - 5, gave the ball away loads and allowed himself to be trapped too many times. Guly - 4, nightmare game, constantly gave the ball away with shocking passes and an awful first touch. Summed up when a perfect ball to him on the penalty spot was there to be attacked but instead waited for it to come to him and fell over backwards whilst trying to volley it. Cork - 6, Very quiet game with some sloppy passing. Schneiderlin - 5, hardly got involved and the one time he did get in there really really should have beat the keeper from 6 yards out. Lallana - 6, worst game I've seen from him in a long time, struggled to get involved at all and when he did didn't look anywhere near what we've come to expect from him. Connolly - 2, I hate to say it because he's been great recently but today was just unbelievably bad, gave the ball away 90% of the time he got it and never looked like creating a thing. Lambert - 6, struggled to get involved, good assist for the goal though. De Ridder - 9, WOW, this was something special for me. Maybe it looked better than it was because of how poor the rest of the team was but the within 5 minutes of being on the pitch he'd created two clear cut chances and continued to give their defence the run around for the rest of the game. Brilliant ball control, good pace and incredible strength, only remember him misplacing one pass all night. Chaplow - 7, was involved in some neat little passing moves that created opportunities towards the end of the game, did everything that Cork didn't. The one positive to come out of this game for me is De Ridder, class performance in an awful team showing, he HAS to start on Saturday.
  6. Will be driving up and buying up there, cannot wait for this one!
  7. Diving is a cautionable offence in the laws of the game, referees can't give a straight red for it.
  8. You what???? Wouldn't get in out starting 11 and would be lucky to even get on the bench. Not even in the top 10 best players in the league.
  9. Haha, yeah. Was on O/T tonight agreed ages ago, obviously been working too much!
  10. I would have gone but have to work on a Tuesday night, unfortunately anything outside of Saturday 3pm at home or Wednesday nights is a no go for me, sure many others are in a similar position.
  11. The first definitely is, he nicks the ball off Car with one foot, moving it across his body to the other which he uses to poke it through his leg, not sure if he touched the 2nd but it was all about his movement which completely fooled the defender so he gets the credit for it.
  12. Got it, didn't realise there were extended highlights of the Leicester game, didn't see much point in putting up what was already there for the goal. Uplaoding now.
  13. Not in any of the highlights I'm afraid.
  14. Winchester, seen him in Sainsbury's a few times.
  15. Great touch from Connolly in between as well.

    Jobsworth?

This happened to me a few years back, I went to the Ticket Office and they just printed me a regular ticket for my seat for free
  17. You've totally missed the point. As good as Svensson was there was no way he would have gotten into the Dutch national side. By your logic it would have been better to sign Dennis Fakudze, just because he's an International.
  18. Sorry I missed it
  19. I don't see how the International thing is relevant, you can hardly expect us to be signing players from the top International team in the world. If Hooiveld was from a lesser nation (like Sweden) he might be in the National team.
  20. Don't you look like a bit a of a racist idiot now! Going to apologise?
  21. Finally someone posting with some common sense. This signing screams out that we were unable to get the player we wanted but feel we will be able to get them in January. So in the meantime at short notice we needed a quality CB on loan until January and hence we've picked up Hooiveld, top centre back with Premier League experience. Can't believe the number of people on this thread who would rather have us spunk money up the wall on players on 3rd or 4th choice players.
  22. Wouldn't mind the club letting him train to get his fitness back up. He did great things for us but that was in the past, Beattie's time has come and gone, he'll be remembered fondly here for his goals and we should help him out where we can but he's past it at this level, wouldn't be impressed at any attempt to sign him.
  23. You what??? Are you mental? Danny Fox - 29 top flight appearances Steve de Ridder - 60 top flight appearances Jack Cork - 11 top flight appearances Jos Hooiveld - 118 top flight appearances Ask him if he ever reads this forum and if so is he embarrassed by the ignorance of a lot of the people on here.
  24. I don't find International football interesting at all anymore. I still want England to win but I don't attach anywhere near the same emotions to it as I do to Saints. I'd much rather Saints got promoted than England won Euro 2012. I would however love to see some games played by teams featuring the best players from a league (Prem vs. La Liga vs. Bundesliga etc.) Although there's nowhere near enough depth of quality around the world to make a competition out of it.
