OS Confirmed Michael Svennson - New Assistant Coach
Bailey replied to steadyeddie's topic in The Saints
Whilst it's blindingly obvious to me that Killer has been appointed to appease the fans, it does give us all a bit of hope. We all know how committed Svensson is to Saints, and if he is having some sort of input, no matter how small it is, then there is at least a little glimmer of hope for us all. With all the off-the-field antics going on, it's good to hear that we have got someone who truly cares about the club involved in a coaching role. It's unlikely Svensson will settle with players not giving their all, and the youngsters could certainly use his experience to their advantage. I guess we just have to hope that Killer is having some input and that this hasn't been dressed up to keep us fans quiet for a bit. The one thing that does concern me, is that this could hamper Svensson and his future coaching career. I'm of the opinion that he has the potential to become a very good coach, and one day a top manager, but having to work under Lowe isn't the ideal scenario. I know for a fact that Svensson is highly thought of and well respected amongst the players, so hopefully this MIGHT just be the first thing Lowe et al have done right. Maybe Killer will be named manager after Wotte fails anyway? -
If true, could this be a move by Lowe to try and please the fans? Ignoring that, I don't think it can be a bad move, especially knowing how well liked and respected Killer is amongst the players.

How many home games will we have won by the end of the season?
Bailey replied to Big_Bald_Si's topic in The Saints
Maybe 3 more home wins if we turn it around. God that's depressing. -
I don't question his coaching abilities, but this was too big a task in truth. I don't envy him having to work under such difficult circumstances either, but there were signs of what he's all about. He plays football the right way but maybe he's proved that the right way isn't always the best way, especially in this division. A decent, down-to-earth guy but as have mentioned in another thread, that's not enough to win football matches. I wish him all the best for whatever he does next.

Devious is one word for him, although I can think of alot worse . . .

A tad surprised at the timing, as I thought Jan might have handed in his notice after the Doncaster game. Having said that, I'm not surprised he has gone as he strikes me as a people person, and when the fans turn against him, I always felt he might call it a day. On the other hand, maybe he was pushed by Lowe? Perhaps Lowe thought this move would get some fans back on side? Potentially it could have worked, but by appointing Wotte straight away, it won't work out like that! Lowe never seems to learn. With JP going, it was the perfect chance for a fresh start with a new man coming in. However, I fear it's going to be a case of as you were. To conclude, I would just like to say I did feel a tad sorry for Jan. Slightly out of his depths perhaps and took on an almost impossible task. I don't doubt him as a coach, but it can't have been easy having to work under such circumstances. A very decent bloke, but unfortunately that doesn't get you results on the pitch. I wish him all the best though.

One rumour flying around SkySports offices is that Alan Pardew is in the frame to take over. However, this is JUST A RUMOUR and I am not ITK about this one. Having said that, after hearing Poortvliet had 'stepped down', I'm not at all surprised that Wotte could be/is in charge.
-
A top keeper with a first class attitude. Good to hear him reiterating his commitment to Saints, especially when it could be so easy to ask for a transfer. Lets hope we beat the drop and tie him down to a new, long-term contract!
-
I've seen him at almost every home game this season and thought nothing of it. It was only when there was a thread started suggesting we may have a 'secret football advisor' that I figured this guy could be just that. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=8454
-
Hmm. So the plot thickens. The question remains, if what we've 'discovered' is correct, then just how did this guy make himself such a prominent figure at Saints?
-
So could it be a case of mistaken identity? Shall have to wait for offix to confirm I guess. Unless of course, he was Poortvliet's agent and has SOMEHOW ended up with a nice little job at Saints?
-
All started by me on a previous thread I must point out. Not that I'm one to gloat. Post number 21. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=8454

We'll have to get people to snap some more pictures of this guy at the Swansea match. That is, assuming he turns up after this!
-
Here ya go offix.
-
Ha sorry Stevo, couldn't resist. Just messing with ya mate!

Surely MLT would get involved in some way if we did enter administration? I can't imagine him being happy to sit back and watch Saints fall apart. Even if he acted as a figurehead of a consortium? One thing is for sure, it would unite the fanbase right from the off.
-
would you accept administration if it meant Lowe left?
Bailey replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
If the latest rumours are to be believed, then we're about to find out in the not too distant future! -
Does that mean we won't be signing Christian Dailly?
-
On the flip side of course, this could be a one of Lowe's PR plants, making us think admin is just around the corner, when in fact all that's going to happen is Lowe sells (insert name here) and claims that this move has fought off the threat of admin, claiming that he has saved the club.
-
Even if this particular rumour isn't true, surely it's not too long before the inevitable happens? A sad, sad day if this is true though.
-
Camara's winner against Norwich the season we went down. As that ball went in, I was convinced it was a sign that we'd battle through and avoid relegation. Clearly I was wrong!
-
Hear me out . . . If Lowe decided to sack Poortvliet, the chances are he'd appoint the new man from within. Either that or we'd end up with someone with little experience with an unproven track record. The chances of Lowe admitting he's wrong and appointing someone like Ince, Boothroyd or even Dowie is very slim, and so it begs the question, would we REALLY be any better off if Poortvliet went? The first thing we need to sack is the board, then we can start re-building our club.
-
Bingo! This is the guy. No more confusion now OK? This fella is at every home game, speaks with Lowe, Wilde and Wotte reguarly and could be a candidate for this 'football advisor'. All we need to do is find out who this guy is . . .
-
Ok, so on the basis we're not using players that signed after their loan spell, we could potentially have the following XI . . . ----------------- Wright --------------------- Ifil ------- Dailly ------- Pearce ------- Vignal Ekelund ----- Cork ----- Guthrie ----- Berkovic ----------- Camara ----- Pekhart ------------- Subs: Keller, Lucketti, Chaplow, Kosowski, Madsen
