  1. Wouldn't be too sad to see BWP go in truth. As for the Davis rumour, I can't see it happening based on the fact he's said he doesn't want to go and has just been named club captain.
  2. I'm assuming you mean JERMAINE JOHNSON from Sheff Wed? http://www.swfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10304~19600,00.html And I do hope this isn't true. We really don't need another midfielder.

    Paul Wotton

Ha yeh me too! Wotton had some very choice words for Martinez et al. "**** off!" and "Sit down you *****!" were just a couple of insults I heard! Good to see there is some fight and passion in the side, and if Wotton can help get that out the rest of the team then that can only be a good thing. I think both Wotton and Euell may play a key role in our bid to stay in the division to be honest.

    Euell

But Mr Committed he is. Euell always works his socks off and gets stuck in. Never shys away from a tackle either. We could use his experience and work rate to our advantage for the remainder of the season.
  5. Quality finish. If only Saga had been here all season . . .
  6. Ooh forgot to say, there was no sign of Kim van der Waals though!
  7. Yep, he was there. Have to say I was quite surprised to see him too.

Agree with Gecko completely. Lets hope for more of the same! Great picture too!
  9. Have just heard that Forest have lodged bids for Bristol City's Dele Adebola and Hibernian's Rob Jones. No mention of Surman though . . .
  10. We were very strong in the tackle today but at no time did we over-step the mark. Having said that, I thought Wotton was a little fortunate to go unpunished after that challenge which bizarrely ended up with us being awarded a free-kick!? Every tackle we made today was strong, solid and 100% committed. I see Gary Monk has also said that Swansea failed to adapt to our physical game during the first half, something that hasn't been said often enough this season. Might I add that we've been lacking that much needed bite and commitment over the course of the season, and I've lost count of the times that we've been accused of being too nice and only able to play 'pretty football'. I distinctly remember Chris Coleman saying earlier on in the season that it was possible to 'bully' us out of the game. Personally, I'm glad to see a more determined and physical approach in our game, and long may it continue. From what I've seen of the last 2 games, if we do go down, it won't be without a fight.

The fans were top draw today. It was always going to be a good atmosphere with Swansea selling out their allocation, but the Northam lot were particularly vocal and got right behind the boys from start to finish. What with the planned protests and all, I had feared the atmosphere could turn quite hostile if we went behind, but it was good to see everyone showing their support during the game and getting right behind the team. The protests were a success and our point was well made, but most importantly, during the game we supported the team and showed them that we care. I thought the fans were a credit to the club today, fair play to everyone.
  12. I've seen there's a bit of debate on the post-match thread about how we lined up tactically today. IMO, it was as follows . . . ------------------ Davis -------------------- James ----- Saeijs ----- Perry ----- Molyneux ---------------- Wotton -------------------- -------- Gillett ----------- Surman ---------- ----------------- Lallana -------------------- -------- Saganowski -- McGoldrick ----------- So this isn't your conventional 4-4-2 system, but more of a 4-1-2-1-2 formation. To be honest, it worked well today too. Wotton protected the back 4 superbly and broke up the majority of Swansea's attacks. Gillett added a bit of bite in the middle and Surman is always a threat with his forward runs. In theory, this should enable Lallana to have a free role and move about the park as he wishes, having a real impact on the game in the process. As it happened though, Lallana was very quiet and didn't see much of the ball at all today. One problem with this system however, is that it exposes the full-backs. Playing in this way means we're very narrow when attacking and defending, and Swansea were getting alot of joy doubling up and making overlapping runs at both James and Molyneux. It means Gillett and Surman had to act as right and left midfielders when we didn't have possession and that's asking them to cover alot of ground. Still, for the large part of it, we dealt with Swansea's attacking threat quite well, and Wotte has shown that tactically he's quite astute and isn't afraid to make changes. I thought he got his subs spot on too so credit to him for that. I'm interested to hear other people's opinions on the system played today . . .
  13. BWP has had an indifferent season really. One game he'll play and be absolutely brilliant, then next match he'll suddenly be dropped from the team completely. It makes it hard for him to get any form as there has been little consistency with team selections this season. The fact he's been absent from the last 2 squads is the clearest indication yet that he may be on the move. With his contract up in the summer, and assuming he's one of the higher earners at the club, it makes sense to move him on. Shame really as when he first joined, I was convinced he'd turn out to be a top draw signing.
  14. Ha it would seem that way. Quite content with a point today though, especially after being down to 10 men. We showed alot of character which was good to see. Maybe the back-to-back wins will still happen, starting with 3 points on Tuesday perhaps?
  15. Wotton was first class today. He played with a real passion and showed how committed to the cause he is. He sat in front of the back 4 very well and just broke up the play brilliantly. Definitely his best performance in a Saints shirt thus far. Impressed by his post-match comments too. Says it how it is and doesn't mince his words. Wotton could prove to be a key part to our survival plans if he continues to perform like he did today.
  16. I almost feel sorry for him. You have to remember, Lloyd James is a central midfield player being asked to play at RB in his first season in the first-team squad. Having said that, it is clear he isn't up to it and I would hope that Wotte has seen that. Forget signing a striker, we have Saga now, a RB should be a priority. For a Championship side not to have one recognised RB in their squad is a bit of a joke to be honest.
  17. I'd be surprised if the Surman to Forest rumour were true. Not only would it be a blow to us if he were to leave, but it would strengthen a relegation rival. Cannot see it happening. There is more chance of him going to Reading IMO.
  18. Credit to everyone for turning up and fair play to the organisers. Good to hear that the protest was peaceful too. Here's hoping Lowe will FINALLY start to get the message and duck off.
  19. If we're being optimistic, we have to say it's 2 points gained from our last 2 fixtures. We've shown great character to come back from 2 down at Norwich to claim a point and now from 2-1 down with only 10 men. Credit to the boys for that. Have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the match today and thought a draw was fair. Credit to Swansea, they're a decent footballing side who knock the ball about very well. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sneak a playoff spot come the end of the season. As for our performance today, it was a massive improvement on recent weeks. Everyone was committed, up for the fight and players played with passion and desire; it was great to see. I thought Wotton had his best game in a Saints shirt today. He sat in front of the back 4 and gave them a good bit of protection, breaking up the play on numerous occasions in the process. Saganowski stole the show though, his 2nd goal had me thinking of Wolves away when we won 6-0. With Saga at the club, our chances of survival increase dramatically! He fully justifies being a high earner as he does his job and sticks the ball in the back of the net. 4 goals in 3 proves that! Wotte impressed me with his tactics too. He was very astute with his subs and got things spot on today IMO, although I would like to see Euell start in the future as I think he has alot to offer us in the middle of the park. A midfield duo of Wotton and Euell maybe? Molyneux was very very stupid to make that tackle after already being on a yellow card and fully deserved to go. As Wotte has said in his post-match interview, it's a case of inexperience. All in all, feeling slightly more optimistic about our chances of survival. Results generally went our way and if we can get what would be 3 massive points on Tuesday then things would start to look alot brighter.
  20. It's going to happen, I just have a feeling. Having said that, this post could make me look pretty stupid come 5pm today! I've liked what I've heard from Wotte thus far and if he goes with 4-4-2 for the next 2 games then we might just have a chance. Would give us all renewed optimism and may even be enough to get us out the bottom 3. Back to back wins. A realistic possibility or am I dreaming?
  21. Monday, 4.30pm, Ipswich Town. I just have a feeling they might renew their interest, especially after they've loaned out another left-sided player in Dan Harding. Hopefully he'll go abroad or to The Prem as I wouldn't want him to face Saints. No doubt he'd tear us apart if he did. I actually think Skacel is capable of playing at a higher level than this, it's just a shame we never got to see the best of him.

    Collins John

Just seen that he is on trial at Charlton and available on a free. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_4874396,00.html Worth us having a look at IMO. He's strong, powerful and pretty quick too. Did OK at Fulham when he first joined them but hasn't really settled anywhere since. Could he be the answer to the 'physical' striker we're looking to sign? Oh and not to mention he's Dutch too.
  23. Be very surprised to see either Lowe or Wilde at the game tomorrow. To be honest, it might be better if they did stay away and left the players and coaches alike to get on with their jobs.
  24. Positive thinking. We're going to win 2-1 and Wotte will realise that 4-4-2 is the way our players are best suited to playing. Here's hoping anyway!
  25. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this. My thinking is it's all been blown out of proportion. Here's hoping I'm right anyway!
