  1. I'm hoping we'll line up as follows . . . ------------------ Davis ------------------- James ----- Saeijs ----- Perry ----- Molyneux McLaggon --- Schneiderlin --- Euell --- Surman -------- Saganowski --- McGoldrick --------- Subs: Bialkowski, Lancashire, Gillett, Smith, Lallana Realistically though, I think we'll see Wotton in place of Euell and maybe Gillett instead of Morgan. With the above side, I think we have a decent chance of getting the 3 points. Swansea are due a defeat and they're nothing without Dyer . . .
  2. After hearing Wotte's post-match interview after the Norwich game, it would seem we're going to play 4-4-2. About time too if you ask me! I think I'd all but give up with Saints if Wotte kept Saga on the bench again . . .
  3. Good news all round, although despite what the article says, it would seem Svensson's playing days are well and truly over. Kelvin is an ideal replacement for the captaincy though, and this suggests he will definitely be staying until the end of the season at least! Here's hoping he signs a new contract in the summer too. He's been first class for us this season and we need him here long term.
  4. No surprises really. In fairness to Rudi, he got his head down and did a good job for us at LB earlier on in the season. Credit to him for that. Since he's been at Southampton, he's been treated terribly and the only thing that does surprise me is the fact he's been here this long! If we can get a decent transfer fee for him then it's a good move for all concerned. I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.
  5. Just bought 3 tickets for me and a couple of mates. Should be a good away day despite the fact our record at Vicarage Road is terrible! Was wondering what the best train route is to get to the game? And how far is the ground from the station?
  6. See post above.
  7. 9 - Wayne Bridge I believe. Not sure how many games he played consecutively though. EDIT - Just done some research and 113 matches is what I've found. Also says the record ended in 2003.
  8. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4083902.__60_000_more_to_police_Saints/ If Lowe and Wilde step down then I reckon we could save that 60K.
  9. I reckon we could see Surman leave on deadline day if Reading lose Stephen Hunt. Fingers crossed we keep hold of everyone though.
  10. Saga could be the key to our survival IMO.
  11. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11282 Got to love the guy! He is totally committed to the cause and willing to give 100% for Saints. He clearly enjoys playing for the club and it shows. By his own admission he was disappointed to be on the bench tonight, but did he sulk? No, he answered in the best way possible; by getting himself on the scoresheet. A model pro, and one can only hope he stays with us for the foreseeable future.
  12. Here's hoping!
  13. To be fair, I have been impressed with Wotte's interviews thus far. He doesn't mince his words and says it how it is. I particularly like the comment about how choosing the side for the Swansea game will be alot easier after tonight! Can we expect to see 4-4-2 with McGoldrick and Saga upfront? Would be the best option IMO. Will be interesting to see if Drew or Schneiderlin feature at the weekend too. Maybe Surman at LB as I'm not convinced by Molyneux.
  14. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11281 Thoughts?
  15. Jan, is that you?
  16. I think that's largely down to the fact that we don't actually know our best side! All season we've chopped and changed the starting team, and there's been no consistency to our side. It can't help the players as they can't get any momentum going, and their confidence must suffer if one week they're playing, only to be out the squad all together the next! We need to get a strong spine to the side and stick to it, then we can build around it and blood youngsters. For example . . . ---------------- Davis --------------- ---------- Saiejs ----- Perry --------- ---------- Wotton --- Euell ---------- ----- Saganowski --- McGoldrick ----- This spine of the team is very solid. You've got the aerial ability of Saeijs, the experience of Perry and Wotton, the work-rate and bite of Euell in the middle and the proven goalscoring instincts of Saganowski. Oh and McGoldrick. With the above 'spine' in mind, you could then use some of our youngsters in the other positions. Mills and Molyneux both able to do a job at LB, James at RB, and then you have the likes of Lallana and McLaggon too. It's all about getting the balance right and I think this would be a good way of doing so.
  17. Fair enough mate. I do rate Pearson very highly and I believe he'd get alot more out of these players than Poortvliet or Wotte ever could. However, I still think playoffs is a bit ambitious. Unfortunately, we'll never be able to find out who's right, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
  18. Agreed. Very strange decision! Going back to the original post, it may well be true. I recently spoke to a player and asked him about all things Saints. I happened to ask what Saga was like in training, and his response was, "****, but you know what you get on a matchday with Marek!"
  19. Maybe we need to find a way for James to take our corners? 9 times out of 10, our corners either go over everyone or we don't beat the first man! Very frustrating.
  20. Steady. I'm of the opinion we'd be higher up the table, maybe 15th or so, but challenging for playoffs is a tad rash don't you think?
  21. I don't not want him in the side, I happen to think he's a great player with bags of potential. However, I don't think he suits a 4-4-2 system as his lack of positional sense when playing out wide right lets him down. 'In the hole' is definitely his best position, but more often than not he drifts in and out of games and goes quiet for large spells. Maybe a 4-4-2 diamond would work with someone like Euell or Surman holding, with Lallana as the attacking midfielder?
  22. Just saw the goals on SSN too. Fantastic ball from Lloyd James for Saga's goal. Top draw.
  23. =D> Great photos!
  24. Assuming Saganowski is here after January, what are the odds that he scores more league goals than McGoldrick?
  25. Don't know how to feel about this one. Good character to come back from 2 down but yet another poor first half. We have to build on this however and push on. 3 points against Swansea would be a massive boost. Here's hoping that Wotte has learnt something tonight. Play 4-4-2 with the likes of Saga, Euell and Skacel in the side.
