  1. Seriously? Not one in of that forward line make any sense for us. I suppose Perez definitely knows how to score at St.Marys, at least. 🤷‍♂️
  2. We did not 'unearth' an unknown Rickie Lambert; we paid what was at the time, IIRC, the record League One fee, for the divisions reigning highest goalscorer. Sorry, mute point maybe (as I also hope we could discover a hidden talent) but it does show that when/if you have a money, sometimes you buy proven quality at that level. Alas, the Championship 22/23 equivalent would absolutely be Apkom, or perhaps, being a top goalscorer in a midtable team... Gyökeres... Or, alas, Piroe.
  3. ^this Che is a good lad, and decent at this level, a 20+ striker in a good side (which Saints could well be this season)... ...but his three-in-three are, given the play he has been involved in, arguably the least he should have got. A fully firing Che Adams would have started each of those games and likely got his goals earlier. His winning goal on Saturday was full of nerves after several fluffed lines for 95 previous minutes. ( 'tis of course great that he held his composure and did the sensible thing.) But, I think most people would all prefer a striker to be on the front foot and attack balls like that (and not be mindful of the dozens of previous misses from a similar position).
  4. Even Che look nervous for his yard out goal (would a more confident striker have attacked that with his head?) But credit to him for keeping his composure, after fluffing a couple of similar chances within the game. I hope he decides to stay and, as the chap on the telly said, 'light it up' in the Championship, as opposed to struggling for a low table prem team. Like the guy lots. Hope he stays a saint. Still not sure he is irreplaceable mind...
  5. At this point in the season Plymouth (at home) absolutely ARE one of the better sides.
  6. Can we keep it on topic? These dear puns are roe-ful.
  7. No. A potentially valid question, but obviously not. Stu's "Nice Hair" is his top stat. Even in a superstar Top Trump game of Footballers Hair Cuts, Stuart Armstrong is only really getting beaten, on that stat, by Andra Pirlo.
  8. Last I heard, he was still recovering from his ACL. I think it was a pretty bad one (I know they all are, but still...) And although he did well in the treatment room, he has yet to make many minutes on the pitch.... ...would be a big risk for any club at this stage (particularly given his game is all about that burst of pace and power). Obviously, hope the lad recovers and reaches somewhere near his obvious potential. But it won't be here, this season.
  9. Been the best player on the pitch since coming on.
  10. Didn't know Alex Scott was still playing, In fairness I reckon SCDAJFU in the championship. 😜
  11. Well, kinda Yes. But also the fact it's the obvious/traditional move for a Saints midfielder to go Spuds. Sorta. And they have a Prowse shaped hole in their squad. Hope I am wrong and still think it's 50/50 JWP might actually stay for the season, or at least untill Christmas - if we are looking good, he would want to lead us back up.... ...There are reasons for him to do that, which far outweigh playing a lesser role for a different Premier League club.
  12. Once Hojbjerg has completed his move to Atletico, I fully expect Spurs to use the funds to bid for JWP. It's the only club I could see him really "wanting" to go to (without European football).
  13. I voted for Smallbone, but KWP probably right too Guess I am just more used to seeing KWP as the player of the match for Saints (and he is probably the best player at the club, all things considered). But today, really like what Smallbone brings to the team. And weirdly, looking forward to seeing him having to deal with a better side and putting more tackles in.
  14. I am like the kit. (Which looks great on TV. IMO) Half red, fired up and thinking we are going to do it. And half off-pink, unsure and worried Weds will knock us about the park.
  15. It's an arms race. On the one hand, the 3pm blackout is increasingly seen as archaic and unnecessary. (Plus the acknowledgement that those that watch football on telly at home are (mostly) not doing that instead of buying tickets to the match.) It won't be too long before a proper service is available to all fans. Then there's Sky etc using increasingly sophisticated tools and legal means to block streamers both at source and through ISPs. (Often negating VPNs etc). Eg: https://www.ft.com/content/ed022ce0-521a-465f-86b8-b7ea2c403407 I would caution against spending any more on illegal alternatives (eg IPTV) just yet. Although it won't be sorted for a season or two, of course.... So maybe £60 for an IPTV box/an afternoon faffing about with KODI is worth the risk/time.
  16. Erm. It's on the club crest... ..."For The Badge"
  17. Came here to say this. Cracking tune by a much underated band.
  18. Martin rhyme, rhyme, rhyme Martin time, time, time You got a Martin rhyme for Russell Martin time Russell Martin has a notebook in his little hand He is still stranger in this land Martin rhyme, it's Russell Martin time Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers. Obvs.
  19. Understand we are just waiting for Rudi Skácel to complete (perhaps even start?) his coaching badges. Be announced shortly.
  20. Which available/affordable manager has the best record in Cup competitions? Can we get Wenger in for 4/5 games and Selles takes the team in the league? Surely that's the only sensible suggestion?! 😜
  21. Clearly nonsense... ...I mean, honestly, "Trophy Cabinet"? 🤪😜
  22. Bazunu KWP ABK Salisu Perruad Alcaraz Lavia JWP Sulemana Onuachu Adams (That's NJ's infamous* 442/Midfield Diamond + utilising Che for what he is supposedly best at, supporting a No.9). Happy to see NJ try it for a couple of games at least. *Have we actually seen it yet?
  23. *Who is. I know. A shitty grammatical thing to pull anyone up on. Sorry. I rarely post and very rarely bother with this sort of pedantry. But, hey, it's Duckhunter, so fuck it, right? 🤪😜
  24. Newcastle should have scored three almost identical goals. Possibly four. We got a stumbled and fumbled 'goal' disallowed. It's not good enough. Apart from that, we are really only a striker short of a "half-decent" side. But it is many a decent team that gets relegated.
  25. Well this could go one of three ways now... ...we collapse back into the team we have seen for the last five games and lose. Season over unless we do something 'drastic'. ...we somehow build confidence, remember how to "do football" play like a team in the second half and the entire season turns on a flukey goal. ...Draw. Sack Jones. Replay at home with an actual manager and an actual team. Or, you know, a completely different outcome too. Love the travelling fans today, as always, supporting the team in full voice and letting the manager know exactly what we all think at the right time too.
