  1. Alex Ferguson, spontaneous human combustion, during extra time. (or is that too specific?)
  2. Yes, they are just waiting for the sky cheque from the PL to drop onto their doormat and they are going to post that off to the HRMC as soon as it arrives
  3. Question of interest is what it going to happen when the 8/9 million is due to gaddyboy? There are those of a more conspiratorial nature who think he/his father is still effective control of the club so will be interesting to see what happens when that money is due. One doubts they will be able to sell enough to pay the wage bill, the tax bill and him so either he is not going to get it or they will have to get the money elsewhere.
  4. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/frattonlatest/Pompey-promise-an-end-to.5966105.jp Confirms the money to pay the salaries was a loan again, but no indication who from or against what. Funny really they promise an end to wage delays but if this payment was a loan then no indication really that they have the money to hand to pay next months. Also goes on about getting the embago lifted by the 12th once the sky money has gone to the clubs they owe money too but no mention of the fact that the PL want proof they can cover future debts before lifting the embargo. Also, also. some confusion about whether any of the money is going the Lens as this article implies it is where as another recently quoting someone from the PL says its only to pay english clubs and the debt to Lens will still be outstanding. Mark Jacob checking he still has his passport and plane ticket....
  5. To be honest given that the salt that you need to take with his statements could easily grit the road of england for a week I am more interested in the dates by which they have to pay money than the dates they promise to pay money.
  6. So what is the next money deadline for pompey? Is it the 8 million owed to Gaydamak or the next wage bill?
  7. Another link of interest... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/07/portsmouth-ali-al-faraj-players-wages
  8. BBC article based on solent interview is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8446488.stm He can definitely 'talk the talk', soon find out if they can 'walk the walk'.
  9. Well there is one part that is provable false.
  10. Oooo, that was close. Lucky its my day to pick up from school so home to see the last couple of overs. Just once I would like us to draw a test with wickets to spare, is that too much to ask??
  11. Suffering from cricinfo important event lag stress syndrome. Mainly keeping a eye on the cricinfo page but know that when something like a wicket happens they can take a time to update it so if the cricinfo page not changed for a while have to nip over to the guardian obo to see if anything reported.
  12. Oh, well if he said it, it must be true. Nothing to see here folks, move along...
  13. Sorry, sorry, sorry.. Collingwood is out now, all my fault.
  14. Not trying to tempt fate but it would be good if we could draw a match without having to have to last two batsmen in at the end! and 'allegedly' 13 odd overs to go but think its an hour or 15 overs which ever is longest at the end and with two spinners on they could get more.
  15. back working now. But to be on the safe side have cricinfo, the BBC and the Guardian OBO open in different tabs...
  16. I think the key will be the £9m. They can probably sell enough players to pay the tax man and keep the other creditors from the door for a while longer but to pay back the £9m on top they will have to probably sell £13M or so worth of players (plus there may be sell on clauses etc so they may get less, assuming they honour the sell on agreements). One of the news articles mentions they are trying to 'call in' some early installments on players they have sold. One assumes this would be something like the deal we did with arsenal from Theo's payment but would be down to negotiations with the other clubs, who, one assumes can refuse so the term 'call in' is rather optimistic as best. How much that would raise I don't know?
  17. Not sure how correct his figures are as he says Um, no it will not as we all know that the outstanding 7 million has been withheld by the PL. and no mention of the money owed to Lens.
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1241330/Portsmouth-set-pay-players-PFA-official-accuses-club-damaging-Premier-League.html Its at that damn processing stage again. What could go wrong this time???
  19. How much will they need to get to that point? There are more wages to pay (though obviously less if they sell half the squad), the taxman will want his chunk, Lens may end up in court as well I guess to try and get their money?
  20. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2797564/Avram-faces-transfer-hell.html If I was Lens I would be a bit peeved that the League had withheld the money to pay 'footballing' debts but that the money owed to them is apparently no covered under this heading.
  21. Not to mention that the players also have to agree to move and some, e.g. by some reports James, are happier sticking with high wages that might turn up than take a pay cut.
  22. More from the News http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/No-wages-again--and.5962541.jp Can their squad actually be worth 55 million? It sounds like the only asset they own of any value is the squad. How much of that 55 million could they get before they cease to have a team to put out? --- edit --- Also interesting to note that this is the first report based, one assumes on info from within the club, that the latest deadline for payment is the end of this week (but surely its all going through this morning!?).
  23. Not sure if this has been mentioned before but those ever helpful suits at the PL have now decided that pompey need to also pay their tax bill and convince them pompey will be able to cover future expenditure before removing the transfer ban. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/Premier-League-warn-Blues.5962475.jp You know its almost as if they wanted them to be relegated!
  24. That they will not have to listen to the nutter with the bell any longer??
  25. I like others I think believe that the PL have only the benefit of the PL in mind at the moment. It they do something that helps pompey its only by coincidence. As with others I think there are many at PL headquarters who have their fingers crossed that the pass the pompey game ends with the football league in charge when the final layers of wrapper are removed.
