Setanta are obviously in tricky position as their current subscription income does not cover their costs. Three things they could obviously do. First is cut back on their costs, but as a large proportion of that is their prem contract and if they lost that they would lose more customers and probably go into a downward spiral. Second is to land grab more high profile events in an attempt to get in more subscribers, they can then reduce the number of these high profile events later on without losing too many subscribers? Finally they could look for someone with bigger pockets to buy them out in the hope that subscriber figures will eventually get high enough to make a profit. Obviously going for the second option at the moment but would not be surprised if they are not in talks with someone like espn in case it does not work. I think the economic downturn may well not hurt them as much as sky and you could possibly see some people currently paying an arm and a leg for sky sports might downsize to only a small limb for setanta.

I hope that our next chairmans surname is Inn (or similar). Will make for lots of jocular 'shake it all about' puns.

Luckily being on the virgin media VIP package it does not cost me any more than I was paying before they started broadcasting. No idea how much they are getting per virgin punter but going to be a lot less then 12.99.

Even without the having to deal with foreign input the setanta signal is generally fairly bad. They appear to encode it for the lowest bandwidth they have across all their distribution methods (probably freeview) so everyone has to suffer pixelation and the other attributes of over compression.

I'm waiting for 7th generation ipods, which should be about a week friday.

Sort of expected as none of these sort of things have worked first time.

Just in case this causes the end of the universe I think it only polite that we get all the worlds media to broadcast 'Ooops, sorry!' just beforehand so any ET out there knows who's fault it was.

Using the D word again but tempted with the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 as it has easy access to all the internals including a slot for an HSDPA modem so you can get the maximum flexibility of connections without having dongles and the like hanging off it. Looks like you either have to DIY it or wait for Vodafone to start selling them bundled together in which case will be interesting to see what the prices are.

Daily Echo - LALLANA Fulham bid rejected...SPURS INTEREST TOO
pedg replied to exit2's topic in The Saints
So if he plays in the same vein and is not then sold in january will you be coming on here to make a public apology to Lowe? -
I know its a dell, etc, etc but the Latitude E6400 is 579 quid and claims to have a battery life time of up to 19 hours. http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop_latitude_e6400?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd

Daily Echo - LALLANA Fulham bid rejected...SPURS INTEREST TOO
pedg replied to exit2's topic in The Saints
There are those here whose oft repeated opinion of Lowe is that he would sell any of the players as soon as anyone showed him some money. If we did reject a bid for Lallana then this goes against their belief so they then have to start saying 'he will be gone in January then' rather than admit their opinion of Lowe might be wrong. -
Think people are making too much of a fuss over what is almost certainly an unenforceable EULA. Eventually Chrome is going to be open source so people can see exactly what it is or is not doing under the hood which is more than can be said for IE or safari.

Appears reasonably fast to me but on about a fast a network that you can get so most things work fast. Bit confusing finding the bookmarks (need to go under customise and set always display bookmarks otherwise only see them when you create a new tab. Also it appears to only work with a release candidate version of java which I don't want to install in case it screws up some of my 'real' work.

Posting this using it. Not sure about the more minimal interface compared to other browsers (lack of a menu bar slightly disconcerting for some reason) but may give it a go for a while. Anyone else tried it yet?

With Mac books you have to be careful of Apples ploy of: Underclocking the fan to get a longer 'official' battery life Act surprised when said notebooks overheat Release firmware to 'fix' problem by getting the fan to run more Don't rerun the battery life test with the new firmware

again with the power of google translate http://www.ouest-france.fr/actu/actu_sport_FluxRSS.php?idArticle=261892&indexFlux=2 Southampton: Gasmi (RCS) loan The attacker Strasbourg Romain Gasmi has been loaned to English club Southampton Division One. Romain Gasmi will find Morgan Schneiderlin, his former partner training centre in Strasbourg, on the side of England. Gasmi has been loaned for a season, with option to purchase the club from English second division Southampton. Gasmi, 21 years, has not played this season in L2. (having said that looks like it may have come from the french version of football365 so not sure how accurate it is)

We may be under the radar of the fans but I don't think the championship managers are in the dark at all. If anything you could read the blackpool article as 'Look we are probably going to lose but this is me pointing out beforehand how good the saints are'.

170 all out, Patel gets 5
-
170 for 9, Patel, lucky bounce (defended, hit foot, bounced back to hit wicket)
-
160 for 8. Think this will be all over very soon.
