  1. Apparently the serious fraud office may well look into how the payments for the early court cases and the payments to police officers went through the books. Might have an 'Al Capone', i.e. undone by the bookkeeping, ending after all.
  2. Time for any legal eagles on this. Looked at the court listings for today and it has: BEFORE: HIS HONOUR JUDGE RIVLIN QC HON. RECORDER OF WESTMINSTER ALSO SITTING IN COURT 1 Trial (Part Heard) T20107431 MANDARIC Milan 48C23003310 Order made under Contempt of Court Act 1981 T20097808 STORRIE Peter 48C23015506 Order made under Contempt of Court Act 1981 T20107415 STORRIE Peter 48C60134910 Order made under Contempt of Court Act 1981 Which is a different Judge from before (I think?). Any idea's what it means?
  3. She don't half manage to get people under her spell doesn't she.. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/10/us-newscorp-murdoch-brooks-idUSTRE76925320110710
  4. In my opinion saying the sun is better than the mail is like saying you find the taste of rotten veg better than rotten fish.
  5. Don't usually look at the mail website (usual sudden need to wash hands afterwards) but it does have some interesting articles today: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013046/Rebekah-Brooks-Sun-News-World-run-fictional-stories-insider-claims.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013027/News-World-Tony-Blair-tried-hush-phone-hacking-scandal.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013055/News-World-Andy-Hayman-criticised-acting-stop-News-World-tracks-earlier.html
  6. I think that's a direct quote from the Mr Deluded book.
  7. What ********. Or do you mean he could not use myspace to pervert normal democratic governments so it would have been of little use to his agenda?
  8. CNN reported that Myspace sold for $35 million, and noted that it was "far less than the $580 million News Corp. paid for Myspace in 2005."[65] So over half a billion dollars is a drop in the ocean???
  9. Oh yes he really is on the ball is Murdoch. Remind me exactly how much he lost by buying Myspace? Anyway his main ability appears to be to see which way the ball is rolling, jump on the bandwagon showing no loyalty to who he may have supported before and then claim he was solely responsible for them winning.
  10. Oh more fun. I appears an internal NI report in 2007 that found evidence of widespread phone hacking and police corruption was suppressed (full story on the sunday times website apparently, don't pay so don't have full details).
  11. The sooner sideshow bek is arrested the better.
  12. Interesting stuff on the telegraph site tonight. Yates of the yard admits he looks a prat. Rebekah Brooks warned she will be questioned under caution within the next few days. MP Tom Watson wants Brooks, and Murdoch junior and senior to appear in front of the relevant MP committee.
  13. On google calender web interface they have teams under 'interesting calenders' and then 'sports' then 'football'. The teams are in the leagues from last year but I assume they will be updated before the start of the season.
  14. Oddly just had an EDL march go past our house in Cambridge. They did all rather appear to fit the stereotype of an EDL supporter, though it was rather a limited sample size.
  15. There are various hacks commenting that he is not representative of the 'modern' NOTW but they don't appear to be in a hurry to put forward a replacement.
  16. An example of how the 'now honest' NOTW operated http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2011/07/08/my-encounter-with-the-news-of-the-world/
  17. I am in inveterate liar and I would not believe anything I say.
  18. Damn that one (possibly 2) more than mine.
  19. I try, or have been told I am very trying, something like that.
  20. Their idea of cooperation is that by removing most of the evidence they make the police investigation easier..
  21. Well hopefully if she knows of any other illegal activities she will be going straight to the police to tell them.. (even alternative universes are probably not that strange)
  22. More sales basically.
  23. Now it appears a News International executive twice deleted large swathes of emails. Sounds like NI becoming less fit and proper by the minute.
  24. I think it is rather funny that the speech James Murdoch made about how 'dark forces' has corrupted NOTW without NI's knowledge could well come back to haunt him as it sounds like this admission that they had lost control of NOTW could well be used by Ofcom to say that NI are not a fit and proper company and then not only would they not be able to but the remaining shares in BskyB but they may well have to then sell the shares they already have. Oh how I would laugh.
  25. No the break in was by those associated with Nixon that started the whole watergate ball rolling. I don't think the journalists in that case did anything one might consider illegal.
