I made a similar comment to a couple of fans after the Sheffield Utd game. We bought Rudi after his impressive performances for Hearts, where he was being used 'in the hole' in a fairly free to roam role. So I don't understand why we don't use him in the same way here... we give Lallana that position who has done nothing in recent weeks. Yet at the Utd game it was desperately clear that we needed somebody else to create attacks and bring the play forward. Id stil go 4-4-2 though

Can we have a 'Behind the scenes' forum section and split this totally from the football forum? Then the moment a thread turns political or into Lowe bashing, it goes into the 'Behind the scenes' forum as it's no longer about football. That would leave the football forum for talk about the team, games, tactics, signings etc etc

Two full backs please, we are covered everywhere else but desperately lacking at RB and LB. And I mean real full backs, not midfielders
-
This is my preference for sure. But this system, IMO, relies on having two decent full backs who can defend and have a bit of pace. Come back Wayne Bridge... I think full backs are the only missing link from our current squad. We just then need to encourage players to attack in numbers and get in the box, something only Saga seems aware of at the moment, with the rest of the squad following behind too far out to be useful. Our current squad with two full backs would be pretty good. More than good enough to challenge for a play-off position, given a fresh start to the season and a manager who knows the CCC. Keep Perry and Size at CB, Wotton as our DM and Surman as the CM with Holmes and BWP on the wings. Then with Saga and McG up front things suddenly look quite good.

Football, I mean. It used to be exciting, even being a Saints fan. Never knowing what results would be, beating the teams who should pound us into the ground and losing against the teams who should be a walk in the park. Constantly losing our top names and finding young stars from the lower leagues. And even recently, it used to be fun coming on forums like this and chatting football to other football fans, even if people didn't always agree it was always about the football. But every post now (inc. this one in 5 minutes no doubt) is about Lowe. Even threads about injuries, players signing or leaving, match reports... they all last two replys and turn into Lowe bashing. I know some people get off of this sort of thing. But are there any football fans out there any more? Anybody want to just talk football? How about a quick argument about the merits of 4-4-2? No....?

Considering we thought it would be shockingly bad and pretty much all Saints fans were resigned to losing at least one if not two of our best talents and believed there was no money and no chance of new faces, I'd say it was a great transfer window. Even better with Saga back, which is like a new signing for us!

Same from me. While never being against the principle or idea of the march, I did say I didn't think the turnout would be that great. Massive respect to those who attended not just for attending, but doing it in a manner which makes all fans look good and not like mindless morons. I have been well and truly proven wrong in my comments on the turnout, so well done to all involved

If ever there was a thread needed to show exactly what this forum is about, this is the one.

How many do you expect to turn up for the protest saturday?
RobM replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
There is a huge difference between clicking a button on a website to say you're going, and actually getting up and going to meet a load of strangers to join in. I'd say that you could expect about half the total amount of 'yes' votes to attend, it's always the way with things like this. I sincerely hope there is a decent turn out. Having a small (less than 100) group would discredit the march totally, IMO. -
Attention Askham, Richards, Windsor-Clive, Withers
RobM replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Will Lowe be back from his holidays for this protest? Seems a shame if not, as you can bet if he isn't there Wilde wont be either, so the protest will be aimed at thin air. Let's hope he's back and at SMS. -
This is the bit that gets me. As chairmen, they have a legal duty to act in the best interests of the company and it's shareholders. Turning down the opportunity to be bailed out of debt seems to be the polar opposite of this, especially at a time of serious economic troubles and with administration lurking in the shadows. And as far as I can tell, the reason to turn this chance down is purely down to personal opinions of people and wanting to keep their position at the company?

No mention of Sagga either

Interesting... that gives a huge amount more credibility to the rumours posted previously that we put on a show for a potential investor.

Perhaps Crouch didn't want the current board to make any commitments or bring any new faces in? Perhaps, pretending there is even a slim chance of this being true, he wanted that decision to be made by whoever is coming in? If Crouch really is orchestrating change then I'd imagine he would not want any important decisions being made, preferring to make them himself? Wotte was already here, isn't totally inexperienced, knows the good, bad and ugly about the players we have and how SMS operates. So for the time being, until Crouch can bring his own man in, it's a no-cost, low-risk option.

Previous rumours / talk claimed that somebody spoke to Crouch in person and he said he had no interest or intention of returning to the club. Let's hope he's had a change of heart.

OS Confirmed Michael Svennson - New Assistant Coach
RobM replied to steadyeddie's topic in The Saints
In my opinion... if this appointment had been made while we were flying high in the league, it would be given a very different reception. I can't and don't blame people for their negative opinions or thoughts towards the club and the decisions it makes, but I am pleased at this decision pure and simply for the benefits I believe Killer can bring to the table. -
OS Confirmed Michael Svennson - New Assistant Coach

******** to what others think... I'm f'ing delighted at this! Before he came back this season there was plenty of discussion about how great it would be to see him perform some form of coaching role at SFC. His experience and leadership skills will be invaluable to us and our young squad. He is a genuinely nice guy too, so I can see him as a great mentor to younger players also. Obviously he doesn't have his coaching badges, but since when did qualifications make a coach? Experience, knowledge, talent and respect are all much more important, qualifications can be earned over time. Excellent news IMO -
Wiki is hardly the most accurate or reliable of sources, but that does read as though it's a done-deal.
-
But plenty of people on this forum say the same thing! That doesn't make them a wise choice of manager. Holloway has achieved nothing that merits his appointment IMO. I'd even have taken that gob****e Billy Davies over him.
-
In my opinion.... confidence and experience. It's knowing what to do when faced with a defender coming at you and having the confidence to do it. We lack this big time.
-
Have a right go by all means, but at least have a go for the right reasons. Shocking defence. Shocking marking. Shocking positional play from those who should know better (Skacel) No motivation. No determination. No fight. Stupid decision making (jumping with your hand above your head, two footed lunges etc). But it's only fair to give credit where it's due also.

Does she have a Saints kit and her own boots?
-
Two feet left the ground. Both left the ground and travelled through the air before getting to the player and making contact part the way up his leg. What do you call it?
-
How many chances on goal would you say a 10 man team playing the European champions have to get before it deserves any sort of credit?
