There’s one already and we haven’t even made kick off.

I’m not sure if I can raise my motivation levels to actually watch the game. I was quite looking forward to it until I saw that lineup. Now I’m just hoping we don’t get embarrassed.

Well, time will tell. If he can galvanise the players then there’s not really much wrong with giving him the rest of the season, but we’ll have to wait and see what the player response tomorrow is. He’s obviously a confident man and it seems like he can get ideas across. We obviously all hope he can have an instant impact on performance and if he can sneak some sort of result then wonderful. I still think that, having been part of the coaching makeup since the start of the season, he must be somewhat culpable for that. So, a well polished press conference doesn’t yet provide me with a huge amount optimism. Nathan Jones set the bar so low that this seems like a step up already, but it’s just a press conference and we’ll get an actual idea of where we are around this time tomorrow.

Me neither. He was a coach that SR told Ralph he needed to make, they said Ralph needed a coach but the club had to approve him. He’s done nothing with us to excel. He’s moved around from lower league job to lower league job. The idea that he is premier league ready as a manager seems absurd to me. I know we’re not in a good place right now but putting him in charge to the end of the season would be a disaster IMO, I don’t think we’ll do it.

“He knows the club inside out” = his employment with SFC ended 18 years ago. But yeah, I’m onboard. WGS as assistant manager, Paul Telfer first team coach, Brett Ormerod chief scout. Can’t go wrong 👍

If Selles does get the gig he’ll surely have to appoint at least one coach. Jones brought 2 along with him and we’re surely losing them (no loss). Interesting to see who steps up.

Appointing Selles seems to me like waving the white flag.

I keep hearing the line: “we only lost by one goal”. Jones used to refer to it a lot, the fella above has said it as if it’s a positive that Marsch “only” had 3 of 10 losses that were by than one goal. It’s a meaningless stat; of course most losses in football are going to be by one goal, it’s a standard statistical pattern.

That’s joust not a realistic benchmark.

Selles seemed to me to bring with him the 3 at the back, so I reckon that’s how he’ll go on Saturday. Fuck me, we need a new broom. Just consign the likes of Aribo, Djenepo, Walcott, Janny B to the scrap heap and start again properly with what’s left.

Oh me neither. I wasn’t advocating he should play, just that he was one of our less shit players today. Against a better side he’d be run ragged, given time and space like he was today he was alright.

To be fair it was perhaps AMN’s best game in a Saints shirt. I know that’s the lowest of low benchmarks but he looked alright. Granted, Wolves did almost nothing to put him under pressure, but he was far from being the main problem today.

Nothing about the embarrassing shambles of a centre back that you picked, only for him to smash one into his own net and look like a disaster waiting to happen throughout.
