Vestergaard at 4 and Romeu at 6 should swap IMO. Yes MLG, I know there are variants of “traditional” numbers. But for me, 4 is always a defensive midfielder and 6 is a centre back.

One things it’s triggering in me is my propensity for a migraine. I don’t get them much at all these days but staring at that shirt could set me off. It reminds of the Simpsons episode in Japan where they get frazzled by the TV advert.

I’d be happier with Walcott or Tella in that position. Surely Shane Long’s only role in this team is if we’re winning (ROFL) with 5 minutes to go, to get on and run around a lot to pressure their defence.

He’s the front sweeper we’re clearly crying out for.

Yep, can’t disagree with that. Bednarek has been a first team regular for a side that finished 16th, 11th, and 15th. If we’re saying that staying up is the benchmark then yes, he’s probably good enough. If the benchmark is to break the top ten, then no he isn’t. And if that isn’t the benchmark aim, then what’s the point at all?

This is exactly what a work colleague of mine did when coming back from UAE, he stopped in Portugal for 10 days. Got an apartment with WiFi, worked during the day and enjoyed a holiday of it the rest of the time.

We’ll see I guess. I’d like to have your sense of optimism that our defence is revitalised by a replacement left back and a reserve right back, but I’d I’m not there yet.

Just to clarify, what permutations do you think we have this year that we didn’t last year? I don’t see it myself, Perraud looks like for like to me, jury is well out on how good he is of course. Livramento too early to tell IMO.

I’d be interested to hear where we’ve added the squad depth that we lacked.

That Hummel kit really was an absolute delight.

Not sure that this result proves anything we didn’t know already. Our first XI is alright, we have 2 or 3 genuine first team options outside of that, much of the rest of the squad options are worrying, and we need to replace our premier striker.

Well, they are.

Surely there must be a replacement lined up? I’ll pass judgement if/when a replacement comes in, as only then we’ll really know if it’s a good deal or not. At the moment I’m not all that optimistic at all we’ll get anywhere near a like for like striker in, though. So, yeah, somewhat concerned.

Not a fan of the blue arms. The picture from the hooky site also made the yellow colour look better as it was a bit washed out, the actual one is a good deal brighter. Not an overwhelming fan of any of the three to be honest. They’re ok and perfectly fine, but I’ve preferred others in our recent past. Hummel seem like a decent pair of hands though, hopefully they’ll come up with some decent future variants.

He looks like someone who won a raffle to train with the first team.

I remember we got him from Osasuna. He was absolutely rubbish, so fat and slow. I reckon when Bally played in the Alan Knight testimonial game, he was quicker than fat Sammy.

By my limited maths, he’s 35 games away from tying Wayne Bridge’s record for 112 consecutive games played and 90 minutes completed per game, and 36 games from tying 113 consecutive games (Bridge went off injured in game 113). Quite an ask but, given his past two seasons and having the summer off, not out of the question.
