That one from @Nolan is one of the better mock ups I’ve seen, if a little bit Stoke around the edges. But, Imo, it’s not as good as the current badge. There’s nothing wrong with changing the badge, but one would hope that if/when it happens, you get something better as a result. To date I’m yet to see any mock up that I prefer to what we already have. As I’ve said in here, of various polls down the recent years across fans of other clubs and independent reporters, the Saints badge often comes out towards the top of the more popular ones. So, personally, I don’t see an immediate rush to change it. The club already made a change from the initial 1974 badge to what we have now, changing the ball for copyright purposes. We also changed it slightly in 2010 for the 125 year anniversary (maybe also in 1985 for the centenary year), so there have been mods made since this one came about. A lot of the badge redesigns you see over the past 10 or 20 years seem to be an effort to modernise what looks like an outdated or over complicated / busy design. Ones like Arsenal, Everton, Leeds 🤣 were pretty awful and caused fan backlash (and in the case of the latter two, the badges were rescinded). Some others like QPR, Man City, Palace were an improvement. So, there’s nothing to say we couldn’t have a better badge from a change. I just haven’t yet seen a proposed design that I prefer, and the simplicity of the current design negates a need to declutter it.

Lemina had a Lemina of a game. No surprise he’s gone off, and Fulham suddenly look much better. Harrison Reed has been tidy. Needs more good players around him but has looked alright.

I’d say it’s genuinely amazing Jimmy never got a cap, he won three European Cups and won the league four times!

Andy Townsend 😉 in case MLG reads this and gets confused.

Dennis is a great shout. Only missed out by, well, being a lunatic off the pitch.

Graham Baker maybe. Stick Budgie in goal for a laugh.

The text of Southampton FC is a bit more modern than currently used, but that’s the only improvement on what we’ve got. The red outside the circle is pretty awful, and I don’t believe any sports team should have their nickname written out on the badge, symbology is enough.

And there’s the rub. There’s plenty of our fans that don’t like our badge, fair enough. Yet I’ve never seen any other redesign that looks better. Personally, I quite like ours. It’s immediately recognisable as us and IMO doesn’t look outdated, and while I agree it’s not exactly fine art, I like the assimilation of all things Southampton into the badge. It also seems to be quite well received amongst neutrals, there’s been a few fan polls done down the years of best club badge and ours is often up there. Until someone comes up with something better, ours is fine for me.

Looks like pure speculation to me, but anyway, some outlet in Belgium has thrown our name in the mix. https://www.hampshirelive.news/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-southampton-radar-january-4697691 Can’t see it myself but there we go.

One and the same thing, so,I’ve heard.... Rofl.

Doesn’t matter if he’s not on the pitch, Voldemort will find a way.

Exactly, he’s a royal prince ffs. I’d be more disappointed if he wasn’t shagging about. Same for Hazza. Big Phil the Greek and Charlie schooled ‘em well. Di was often at it it too, bless her.

You didn’t know you were driving? Did you hit your head too?

This. We should be thankful that we are allowed to just play in the same league as these behemoths of the modern game, and we should support their wishes accordingly.

To be fair Romeu made the position his own shortly after coming out of lockdown, it was Romeu and JWP as the choice starting two within a short while after football resumed. Which is why I wasn’t all that bothered seeing Hojberg go except for the lack of cover/competition, which hopefully has been ably filled by Diallo. When Romeu is on song, as he was against Everton, he can properly boss a midfield. Since securing his place back in spring he’s put in some very good, consistent performances.

I’m loving watching the confidence of our players to pass the ball quickly and often in tight situations. Even when in our own half they are looking to play out of trouble. It’s obviously coached and pushed by Ralph. We may have deficiencies but we’re a decent side to watch, and it all shows a side brimming with confidence in themselves.

Was just tuning in to the radio and they asked if the extra game ban for a frivolous appeal was still a thing. They said 100% a red card.
-
It’s nitpicking after a performance like that but I thought we could have really pushed on after they went to ten men. They were effectively playing with 9 as Rodriguez was just loafing about not doing too much. Fair enough they stayed professional, kept the shape and the ball. But I think there Was another goal or two for us there. Not gonna complain any about it though, it was pretty much a faultless display (apart from Redmond).
-
There’s no “falling for it”, they pointed this out in the studio afterwards. Intent has absolutely nothing to do with it; so even if the ref did think it was completely accidental it was still dangerous and (according to the laws) a red card. MLG twat mode off ffs.

Redmond keeps giving it away I. His own half. Frustrating.

Dan Seaborne as a front sweeper also, iirc. Stephens is simply not a midfielder. And certainly not one that would fit the heavy press that Ralph goes for.

Did VAR review it at the time? I didn’t watch the game so I don’t know.
