Thank fuck, Trippier off and Shaw on.
-
This is a good game! So,thing I haven’t said once about England this tournament.
-
That can’t be a pen surely,
-
Trippier is awful. Fucking hopeless at left back. We have 5 subs, 1 extra if extra time is needed, just get Shaw there. Southgate is so timid.

Labour have historically had much more support for PR than the Tories but they’d be utterly insane to announce any proposal for change now. It would undo some of the political goodwill they have. Plus the British public have just given one of the biggest mandates ever for Labour to get on with the job of governing, so that should be their focus. Im genuinely not convinced a majority of the public want PR. The AV vote showed how desperately unpopular that was. A referendum would be needed and fuck tgat for now. Also the Lib Dems likely won’t be quite as vocal about PR considering they were less popular nationally than Reform but ended up with 67 more seats than them.

Have you ever stopped to think “maybe it’s me”?

Yep, looks exactly how I’d expect a Sunderland kit to look.

There's two scenarios where I can see a PR referendum could happen, and both are unlikely: 1) Labour have an absolutely stonking 5 years in power and can basically campaign for the next election on whatever they want. They include a PR ref because essentially its a policy that has a lot of support amongst its party members and unions alike. 2) Labour have a hard time of 5 years in power, there's a hung parliament and they need a coalition with the Lib Dems to get in. The Lib Dems price is a PR ref. There's zero chance of Labour introducing a PR ref within this parliament IMO.

I don't think you have to be kicking anybody let alone be a member of the far-right, an islamophobe, a Tommy Robinson / Katie Hopkins fanboy, or even a Tory to be inducted into the Usual Suspects aka the Baby Reindeer Club (arf).

Seems like another area that whitey is an expert in and hasn’t actually got a flipping clue what he’s talking about.

That’s about 1000% better than any of the other 5. -
The extent of Tory lies and slogan parroting will never truly be exposed in full. But the whole concept of tetchy Rishi’s soundbite of “Labour have no plan” which was echoed by a multitude of minions has certainly been identified as a hopeless lie. Fair enough to disagree with the plan itself, but the reality has shown that Labour have been planning how they’re going to address their manifesto pledges for months by actively engaging with the civil service and other related parties well in advance of the election. I like Starmer. I don’t find him inspirational but I do think he’s an extremely capable man with a high work ethic and some exacting demands. I also expect him to be much more transparent than many that have been before him, and not just revert to bullshit and bluster as we’ve become used to. Long way to go yet, but for the first time in ages I don’t feel like we’re being mugged off by those at the top. I don’t expect radical changes in the short term and I think Labour will likely end up making some unpopular choices. But yep, decent start.

You could but it’s never going to be too accurate, you have to take into account all the corporate boxes, the lounges, comps for staff/players/guestsetc, that’s all a bit of an unknown quantity. Coukd probably make a best guess though I suppose.

Get this lad on a banner and everybody’s happy. Maybe the iconic “Saints is the south” text underneath. -
Not sure why the club don’t release actual ST sales numbers. They used to back in the earlier days of St Mary’s. I seem to recall 23K being a high and Rupert Lowe MP stating he wanted to see 25k over multiple seasons before he consider stadium expansion.

Think they all look pretty shit tbh. -
No surprise to see the genuine simpletons’ reaction to the news about Timpson. I guess when you only deal in three word slogans it’s easy to fling shit about without really understanding the underlying issues.

I said yesterday, I think a form of PR would be fairer than FPTP but I don’t believe there’s actually much appetite for it overall in the UK. The AV vote was extremely badly handled; that said, I think AV is actually a slightly worse system than FPTP and it was comprehensively rejected. People in the UK seem to feel comfortable with a FPTP system that delivers a local MP. It’s a system we’ve had for a very long time and it seems many people in the UK don’t even know how other countries vote, let alone much care. The two major parties absolutely don’t want it either. Not sure if the Lib Dems much will either after the latest result. If we were to have a form of PR, ideally I’d want a system such that overall nationally you vote for a party, all those votes are tallied up and party control is allocated according to those percentages and MPs are assigned accordingly. But there’s all sorts of complications that throws up. You’d have to treat England, Scotland , Wales and NI separately so that there’s a fair accounting of the likes of PC, SNP, DUP etc who can only run in their own (smaller population) countries. Then you have the issue of how a local MP is assigned to a local area, who ends up going where? Currently there are a huge number of people who vote because of their local MP themself and not the national party. It also seems to kill the notion of a local independent MP running on local issues, diluting their vote share nationally would cripple them. All factors that are not insurmountable, but I think you need a groundswell of feeling of change to enact it and I simply don’t see that we have that.

This is very good.

I wonder who they’ll get to replace Esther McVey as Common Sense Minister. Some big old shoes to fill there and no mistake.
