They weren't booing the team off FFS. Pompey fans never do that. So there we are; Pompey weren't booing their own players, of course. They were booing the Brentford fans. No, sorry, the Brentford goalie. Oh, I'm confused.

There aren't. Cortese is the sole director. As to whom the shareholder(s) are, that's unclear, last we knew it was the Estate of Markus Liebherr.

I can kind of understand Billy Sharp going (even despite him having a very good pre-season). Lambert #1 striker, Rodriguez pushing for that, Tadanari Lee coming back from injury and Mayuka in, Billy would in all likelihood have been 5th choice striker in a team that were looking to play 1 up front. Harding; I don't understand why we let him go when we had no realistic left back cover. Stupid, really. I don't think he's quite good enough for the PL, but he'd have been a better option than Yoshida, that's for certain. Hammond, very much agree. Again, not sure he's the answer for a PL team as a starter, but as a reserve he could have been vital. At times we could/should have been playing with 3 proper CMs and with Cork injured we've only had JWP to rely on, which is a big ask for a youngster. If Hammond had been available for the United game I wonder if his introduction to add a bit more bite into CM and nullify Scholes would have made the difference. We'll never know, but again I think it was a silly move to let him go.

Strachan's eyes are on the Scotland job; he was asked about it on the CL show last night. He said very little other than that he'd be honoured to be asked, Matt Smith the interviewer inferred that as he's off to Glasgow today to watch the Celtic-Barca game he perhaps may be meeting with the SFA while there. Vialli? Please no, he would be a major step down. Di Canio, good lord no, I would think it would be a serious f**king disaster, within weeks or even days.

Or how about just choosing to ignore them if you think their post is pointless? If you think someone is just trolling, why react to it? Its only going to encourage them. That "Nigel to continue as manager" thread is a point in case, there's about 5 different people who posted nothing about the topic but just chose to bait Turkish to respond; what do you think's going to happen? I've got my own ignore button, its called my own self control. If I think someone is full of sh*t I'll either choose not to respond, or respond. Its quite a simple system really.

Fact. All of these separate threads about either soldiering on through adversity or making a managerial change are becoming rather repetetive.

I can't see anything on this thread.

Ah, another one who claims to speak for all other fans and how they think. There are plenty of reasons why some fans prefer life in the Championship; its not just about winning games (though it probably largely is). But also: - there are more games per season, 46 instead of 38. - there are less games put back to Saturday 5.30pm/Sunday/Monday for Sky. - there are plenty of midweek games on offer. - games are cheaper. - its easier to get a ticket, there's more often than not the possibility to choose to attend on the day. - its overall a much more competitive league; on any day one club can and often does beat any other club, its much more open than the PL and therefore more unpredictable and exciting. - away games are more fun as there's a higher chance of getting a result. - we actually have a chance of winning the league (perhaps the major plus point of it IMO). - away days and away fans seem better than the sterile environment the Premier League has become. - the league is kept fresh by having 6 clubs leave every season and six new teams replace them. There's just 10 reasons why football is more enjoyable to some in the league below, in addition to the fact that, yes, we'd likely win more games. Disagree with it all you like, its not for everyone of course, and natural ambition states we should aspire to play in the highest league possible. But for God's sake, accept that some people don't feel the same as you and don't presume to tell others what they should be thinking, or what they should be preferring.

Well, somebody is telling porkies.... Nabil Hassan @NabilHassan79 #pompey boss Michael Appleton tells @solentsport he has not held talks with Blackpool. He only knows what he has read in the media.
-
I do enjoy hearing from posters who feel qualified to tell others fans how they should think, and what they should prefer. It is most bizarre though.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/9658684/Nigel-Adkins-survives-day-of-crunch-talks-with-Southampton-chairman.html Adkins has acknowledged that he is favourite to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season, but he took training at the club’s Marchwood training base on Tuesday morning and is continuing preparations for the Swansea game.

Pack the fecking park!!!

For some reason I've just got a feeling we're going to win this one. I've no idea how; I just think we will. I think Rodriguez needs to be dropped, and we need to play 3 proper central midfielders. But we probably won't do that, we'll just plod on with the formation that looked pretty poor at West Brom. That said, I think we're going to fluke a win.
-
Do we still get to play in the FA Cup? If so, we could target all our efforts towards that and win it.
-
If we mothballed the stadium for 9 months and played all games at Staplewood, just think of the monetary savings we could make not having to maintain a 32,000 seater stadium. I think there's a possible financial case to be made for it.
-
Great post pap. The general hand-wringing at dissenting voices often just misses the point entirely.
-
They'll be lucky to get 51%. No wonder this has taken so fecking long; there's quite clearly still some absolutely enormous holes in the takeover plans. It truly will be hilarious if they decide to plough full steam ahead.

I like it. Its akin to Alpine's previous "lets rest Lallana and all the others for the playoffs because we're never going to achieve automatic promotion" suggestion. That was a flawless idea then, this seems a flawless idea now.

Les Reed won't go. He's got his fingers in many more pies than just being on the transfer committee. Unfortunately.
-
Is "lambasted" the new "shouted down"? Hope so.
-
Good lord no. A few years back then maybe, but not now. Although to be fair I doubt we'd be any worse off with him in charge. The problem now is similar to when Burley was getting towards the end of his tenure here. Pretty much everyone knew he wasn't good enough; that wasn't difficult to see. What was difficult to see was what was the solution; who was suitable and available to come in and hit the ground running and get us to perform? The answer was; well, nobody really. We didn't have anyone lined up when he left so resorted to Dodd and Gormanm which was a disaster. When we finally found a full time manager he took so long to get going that we survived only by virtue of victory on the final day and other results going our way. There are simply no other likely candidates I can see that would do a better job than Adkins. And simply replacing the manager would not in any way address all of the currnt problems we have, not by a long way.

"It is very rare I am lost for words but I saw the statue last week and it is awesome - a tremendous tribute to a great man. [southampton] Fans have waited a long time for this and it is going to be fantastic. I really believe it will be the best football statue anywhere both in size and the amount of detail" Ted Bates Trust chairman, Dave Ford.

I bet you I can't be bothered to try, either.

Because I knew I was right at the time.
