Difficult; it's not that the rules are stopping him from earning a playing contract, but that he can't play in regular first team games. Now obviously his attraction to clubs with that in mind is very low, but the rules are not strictly preventing him from being taken on by and working for a club. I guess it's similar to the Cantona and Rio Ferdinand suspensions; they still continued to earn a wage from their clubs (I think one of them even signed a new contract in the middle of the suspension period) so they were employed as footballers, they just couldn't play in first team games. Don't get me wrong, in this case I think it's a thoroughly daft rule and there should certainly be the ability to bypass the rule in certain exceptions. As said above it's surprising that his contract has finished in now and not the summer; perhaps his contract was paid up in full to allow him to leave. If it's Yeovil he's off to they may allow him to train with them until the end of he season and then sign him in the summer.
-
They could be in huge trouble even before then; if they fail to pay their players on time this month hte players are entitled to give 14 days notice and then sign as free agents for other clubs.
-
I'm guessing its because Pardew and Waigo both signed a contract securing his services on loan until the end of the season. Sounds a bit simple when you break it down to the facts, doesn't it?

Sorry, but I don't agree with all of that. To say we have some "big weaknesses" is going a bit far. Yes, you can't deny we're in a run of form that at the moment does us no favours. Our "poor" midfield contains Lallana who has scored 12 goals this season. Name me another midfielder who has done the same and gets criticised for being part of a poor midfield? Schneiderlin and Hammond are definitely good enough at least for this level. Antonio and Papa Waigo too. That's not a poor midfield. Wotton, yes I'd agree that he is nowhere near good enough for first team. And Lloyd James too, in my opinion, is not good enough for a CM berth in League 1. But our first choice midfield is, by comparison in this league, very good. Granted, I'd rather us sign another centre midfielder to provide a totally solid spine to the team, but describing our midfield as "poor" is just not on in my opinion.

Do you really not see the disparity here? You make the example of Man City, who (by your admission) have had 2 years spending big money to get where they are now, just about challenging for top 4. Yet you criticise Saints for getting through administration, losing a number of the better players from the club, and having had to try and totally rebuild the club within a very short time. Yes, we've spent much more money that clubs around us. Yet you seem to allow Man City two years to challenge for 4th place, but less than a quarter of that time before allowing the club you seemingly support to get onto similar grounds.

Tell us about your trip down there?

Spot on.

Jason Puncheon to Saints according to SSN
The Kraken replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
SSN now announcing it on their rolling breaking news feed: "Southampton have agreed a deal with Plymouth for winger Jason Puncheon". -
Not great, but not a terrible result. Leeds look to be a team in freefall; they lost 3-0 today, that's 3 league defeats on the spin after such an amazing start. Yet I'd still back their class to shine through over the season. As I would ours.

I agree 100%. Spot on. You just can't argue with logic like that.

Had a chat in the pub tonight about this with a mate of mine; he used to work in an estate agent in the Hundred and mentioned the Red Lion, he said that when he was there you could still see the writing on the building of the old pub.

Go on then, I'll give it a go. That's all I know. Got to love Romsey; I went to Romsey school (when it was good).

They pay their staff's wages for January on time. Hang on, sorry. You said vaguely feasible didn't you....

I've had the misfortune of meeting him. He is an incompetent and odious buffoon.

At least justify your opinions then. You’ve been asked various questions and seem to be choosing to ignore them to carry on your tirade. You've been asked who you would play (or sign) instead of Lallana, who you don't rate. You've been asked who you'd play instead of Schneiderlin, who you don't rate. You’ve suggested Lallana and Schneiderlin can’t play together; what’s your solution? And what are you basing this on? You’ve mentioned there is a fair amount of evidence bouncing around that we play better as a unit with Wotton in the team. What and where is this evidence? You've been asked why you're so openly critical of Lallana and Schneiderlin, who most others see as up among our best performers throughout the season, and why you've formed this opinion of them when you've seen than play so very little. If you're going to have such forthright opinions, then at least back it up with alternatives. And not just your usual childish response of rolly eye smileys and accusations of happy clappy status. If you’re going to have a moan then at least offer an alternative. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and no-one’s opinion is wrong. It’s just completely bizarre that you consistently come out with these outlandish views and yet offer no alternatives or solutions to the problems that you see.

I think we agree; I'm not saying that these are our first team options. The original post, not by you, was that we now lack depth up front with Pogo leaving. My point was that, with all of those options to us, we really don't.
-
It's on the Sky Sports News feed. Apparently Williamson and his agent are in Newcastle for his medical and it's only just been noticed as pen was going to be put to paper. Also, the David James to Stoke move is being put on hold as "Stoke can't get in touch with the owners to finalise the deal". And we thought it was bad being owned by Rupey and Mike the Red.
-
Waigo I disagree with you; he seems very much a front line striker. We certainly signed him as a striker / winger. His inability to understand the offside rule obviously counted against him... Lallana's natural position seems to be behind a main striker I'd agree, but he's still a backup option for up front. I believe Pearson played him up front when he was here. Saga may not want to be here but he's still an option we have to turn to. Patterson is clearly not deemed good enough for us by Pardew, so it's in the best interests of both parties that he moves on.

This just gets funnier! Pompey thought they were on the verge of getting £1M from Newcastle for Mike Williamson. However, its been put on hold since some bright spark at Pompey actually read the finer details of his contract, which states that his previous club Watford would be paid £1.25M upon his sale, which would have left the skates out of pocket! You couldn't make up how badly they are being managed.

Sometimes it's fun to mock the afflicted. Even if they are just doing it for the wind up.

But unfortunately still out of your reach. Bless.

One of the highlights of your life? Really? How odd. I sympathise with you if watching a group of kids getting shoed-in is all that you have to aspire to.
-
Really? Ricky Lambert David Connolly Lee Barnard Marek Saganowski Chuck in Adam Lallana and Papa Waigo, and I think we have an abundance of depth up front.

Stop speculating, forward and midfielder find out first on OS!
The Kraken replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Cheers. We'll see then. Like I say, can't see it, but then I never would have predicted Fonte stepping down to League 1 so anything can happen. Would be an excellent signing if it comes off. -

Really? I just looked on P****y Online and there's nothing on there about it.... Can't see it to be fair; skate aside he's a decent combative midfielder, think he played against AC Milan and looked decent.
