  1. Caohmin Kelleher, whom Klopp rates extremely highly has been their most recent keeper of choice, and will probably be Bazunu's main competition in the next few years for the No 1 Ireland spot. They also have Bournemouth keeper Mark Travers who isn't bad too so they have 3 young good keepers coming through. With Caballero supposedly retained, I guess that's our three keepers sewn up. With McCarthy the liability we know he can be, I'm really hoping Bazunu steps up and proves to be top stuff even at a young age. Now please sort the attacking side of issues out. Yes we need a CB, RB cover and CM but the lack of decent AMs and Strikers worries me.
  2. For cheap? Sure. Last day of the transfer window and we still only have Adams, Armstrong, Long and N'Lundulu as our strikers? Sure. Him for cheap AND another new young striker? Defo. Him instead of another striker we deem to be good enough Broja style? Nah. Ings had his time here and left. I could get on board with it as a signing alongside another young striker but not as our only striker signing of the window. Anyway I bet his wages are high.
  3. I'm normally quite positive but I feel that If we're not careful we are slipping back to our 90's staple of being perrenial Relegation battlers, only this time we've traded the genius of MLT for the engine and set piece wizardry of JWP. We've seen the likes of Wolves, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham all come up and strengthen and next season we will have Fulham and Bournemouth, both who still have Premier League quality players, and a Forest side that will be determined to do well. Next season will be our toughest test yet since we've been back in the Prem - not only do we need to sort out the CB situation but we desperately need attacking players to come in and do well from the off. We don't really have any game changers in the ranks - that is what I'd like to see us bring in more than anything. It has been a roller coaster ten years - we came up and upset the applecart with players that just kept getting better through the leagues (Morgan, Lallana, Lambert, Fonte), then strengthened under Pochettino and Koeman. I worry about next season - I await to see what transfer miracles we accomplish but I'm not holding my breath. I think we needed a fresh vision in management and decent investment in the squad. We're not getting the former but may yet get the latter but I'm not holding my breath.
  4. If re-signing Ings means not starting the season with Adams/Armstrong/Long as our attacking trio "ably" backed up by Tella, Redmond and N'Lundulu then I'm all for it, at the right price. However I'd hope we had better on our shortlist than a player knocking on for the end of his career. Erikson - no chance, would love him but he'll go to better. Maybe even back to Spurs. Long new contract - FFS. Been in and near Portsmouth and IOW for the last week on holiday so only been checking in. How close is Bazunu to signing? At least that would set the ball rolling.

    Timo Werner

Sure, if the money tree we planted has started to bear fruit. Also... #ziyechwatch
  6. Welcome Bazunu. Wait, thats Pazuzu. Anyway I know nothing of this keeper apart from the fact he's an international and played for the skates... but this sounds a lot like Gunn mk. 2. Hopefully (as we're almost definitely having Alex Mac as number 1) he's got a calm head about him and takes his opportunities when they come. IMO we really needed a top number one like Pope but these aren't markets we appear to be able to afford. As for City's youngsters, I hope we sign Delap on a Tino-like perm and bring in Palmer on loan.
  7. His best moment of last season that i remember was his header against Spurs in the comeback win. He made a great run that JWP crossed it to him and he headed it in. He needs to do that more. Personally I’d have shot of him, and keep only Armstrong of the 10s, then sign replacements but I suppose we don’t have the money for that so need to keep a couple. I suspect Tella will still be here too. Please can we get at least one decent 10, if not two.

    Lee Todd

Big kit. He'd have been better in a Lee O Todd. (There's a leotard joke in there somewhere...)
  9. Caoimhin Kelleher unsure on Liverpool future. He'll never oust Allison who is only 30, played well when he did play last season, and Klopp has previously rated him as the best number two in the country (or World, i forget which). HCDAJFU for the right price?
  10. Southgate 'clearly' saving JWP, nominee for England's player of the season, for the bigger Germany game. 😄 He's come a long way since only getting starts against the crapper nations. I hope he has a good game if he does start as it'll give him confidence leading us next season as the WC approaches. Or adds £10 million to his transfer fee...
  11. We’ve been preparing for Championship football for a while now. Lis will be our number 1 in 2023-4. 😉
  12. I wish I'd put a bet on the CL final the other day, I said to my mate it'd be nil nil at half time and Courtois would get MOTM. 😒 Anyway I'll be keeping an eye on Scotland tomorrow. I'm not Scottish but the world would want Ukraine to win this (bar Russia) and I'd like to see Scotland fight it out with Wales for a place in the WC.
  13. Not sure about Winks. It's not like he's young anymore and hasn't ever achieved much. I wonder if he's the JWP replacement for when he leaves... 😛 Seriously I'd rather we took Kouyate on a free from Palace for a season or two as he offers more presence in midfield. I like the Pope link. He's not perfect but he's better than we have and surely would relegate Alex Mac to number 2.
  14. I suppose for Liverpool they've built a team so good with some players knocking on a bit in age that they may never see their team so complete again. Especially with rumours like Mané possibly leaving. Horrible though it sounds, this is their era and it could all end before you know. (See Man Utd...) So they need to capitalise on these finals when they get the chance. Real have previous and will always be a huge team and they've won 13. Liverpool have 6. For us an FA Cup win would mean everything to us as that is probably as good a trophy as we could expect to achieve (bar a minor European trophy if we finished high enough in the table) and we've only had one. It also depends who we're playing. If it's Arsenal or United then it would definitely mean more to us to win the FA Cup than it would to them.
  15. Fredericks is a good Championship right back but struggled to make an impression at West Ham. As back up I could stomach it while Tino gets fit. Rather him as back up than Valery. Plus if we get relegated, KWP and Tino will be off and we'll have that position sorted. 😜
  16. Fraser against Arsenal recently must be up there. Without that win we'd have been in the mix for relegation for sure. But yes I remember watching the Leeds game and wondering how the hell we won it.
  17. It's a good start getting better coaches but you can't polish a turd, and there are a lot of players on our books that I very much doubt can be improved to an acceptable standard. Hopefully the improvement of the coaching staff is followed with an improvement in the playing staff. Shame about Kelvin though. I started going regularly to St Mary's during our League One era and have good memories of him between the sticks (and some bad!), but he was never proven as a coach and with our league status on the line there is no room for much sentimentality.
  18. No. We perhaps should have been in for him when he was first on a free but there's a reason Bournemouth are releasing him before they're in the Prem. He's nearly 37. We need experience yes but not him.
  19. "At least one". Even if you consider Armstrong as a number one choice (and hope he has a better season next season) I'd hope that Palmer would be a squad 10. We really need a first choice, fairly experienced AM to change games. I've heard good things about Palmer but we really need experience to go with whatever youth we want to buy/loan.
  20. Squad next season: New GK/McCarthy/New GK KWP/Tino/Valery Perraud/New LB/Small New CB/Salisu/Lyanco/Bednarek/Stephens JWP/New CM/Romeu/Diallo New AM/New AM/Armstrong/A couple of the other crappos we currently own New Striker/Adams/New Striker/Armstrong So only the 9 new players then, 7 starters and a couple of back ups. Well that ain’t happening. At the very least we need a GK, a CB, an AM and a striker. All first choice. Basically a spine.
  21. Safe this season maybe but I’m seriously worried about next. We have no regular goal scoring striker at present, an awful set of number 10s, an average set of centre backs and questions over GK. Only full back and possibly central midfield you could say we’re not in dire straits, and even then I hope we bring in at least another CM in the summer and someone to cover Tino’s absence. Quite simply we need one hell of a good transfer window or we will be left behind next season.
  22. I'm done being nice about it... Ralph out.
  23. Good job City came back. Come on Burnley or Brentford!
  24. Good end to the season entertainment wise. For a neutral.
