  1. Comes to something where I'm actually hoping we play Valery in a 3 man defence. 🤦‍♂️
  2. Attacking Midfielder would be my choice. Our defence, while currently leaking goals, is capable of being decent. GK likewise. Our CM is ok at times. But without creativity we could have Lewandowski up front and he'd not get more than ten goals a season. (He'd also be mightily pissed off). We have quantity not quality in AM and it needs surgery.
  3. Nuno Espírito Santo seeing as we’d only bring a manager in who isn’t employed elsewhere. Apparently he lacks man management skills but that might be a good thing with our lot. They need a good bollocking not a cuddle.
  4. To make us a feeder club To Ross County. 🤪
  5. Liverpool 9 - Southampton Nein. Can we just get 5 or whatever players sent off and take the 3-0 defeat?
  6. Oh I’m Ralph out now … in that we need fresh ideas, but any incoming manager better know how to polish a turd. Ralph, and I do think we’ve been lucky to have him until recently, can on occasion polish that turd, which is when we suddenly go on good spells, but most of the time he’s clueless. It doesn’t help though that our squad is poor… although as he’s been our manager now for 3 years plus, a lot of that blame rests at his door. We basically need a quality, first choice spine of 5 players - GK, CB, CM, AM, Str. We need more, but that’d be a start.
  7. The quality in our squad has been diminishing for years and feels as if it isn’t likely to get better. GK: Since being back in the Prem there have always been question marks over our keepers. Boruc as a panic free was ok, Fraser and McCarthy have had odd moments but even McCarthy was signed as back up. There hasn’t been a keeper of Niemi’s class to unite the fans this time. We need one. RB: KWP is probably on a par with Clyne. That we have 2 good RBs and shit in other areas is a joke. Thank god KWP can play left back. CB: Nowhere near Alderweireld, Fonte, Van Dijk or even Lovren. Bednarek was basically signed as back up. LB: Not a patch on Shaw or Bertrand at his best. CM: JWP the academy product that came good. Romeu (signed when we had Wanyama and Morgan) and Diallo weren’t signed as first choices. AM: They’re all just… average. It’s unlikely any were signed as back ups per se based on how much we paid for them but Stu on his day aside, they’re just… average. The days of Tadic, Lallana, Davis etc long gone. Str: This lot is probably the worst we’ve had since being back in the Prem. Even Charlie bloody Austin was better than this lot. Pelle, Lambert, Ings, Rodriguez… give me any of them. Please God can we sign some quality before it is too late. We need quality all over the pitch (bar right back), we have most likely a limited budget to do it, and limited time to do it. It feels a bit doom and gloom to say it but… I fear for our Premier League status over the next couple of seasons unless something big changes…and I’m usually glass half full. This is what this season has done to me.
  8. He was decent for the first half of the season. Been crap since.
  9. New manager bounce against Liverpool? I’d rather against Leicester! (A game we could actually get something from)
  10. The fact we’re cheering the Burnley score speaks volumes about our season. Praying to high heaven that one of the 3 teams below us falters. I think we’re safe but …way to limp over the line Ralph. Might as well play Dibling and other youngsters for experience and balls.
  11. Even if we win this 3-2 my mind won't change. Ralph out and our players are gutless shitbags.
  12. Could be worse for us... ...I'm in Norwich with the in-laws and everyone looks depressed. Come on Saints... one more good performance and we can relax.
  13. He's decent at times (otherwise he wouldn't be picked for England... same as McCarthy and Forster) but he's as capable of a brain fart as our current lot. He's made a few mistakes this season. But... as our budget probably isn't that high this summer then a free transfer keeper and a loan keeper (as a younger 3rd) is probably not far off the mark. Henderson is a yes from me. He'd be first choice before long, is a good age for a keeper and was excellent for Shefforld United. I suspect bigger clubs will want him though.
  14. In before MLG! 🤪
  15. McCarthy as number 1 wouldn’t seem so bad if we signed Johnstone! 🤪
  16. I’d say 50/50 - either we do get relegated or we don’t. 😉
  17. Sign Zaha and let him room with JWP. What could go wrong! I can see 80 million reasons to sell... if our owners don’t cough up some dough that is. But the ball is definitely in our court and I hope we keep him. As much as many want Hasenhuttl out and McCarthy to not be number 1, I think we probably have to accept it’s most likely Hasenhuttl will be here next season with McCarthy as our number 1.
  18. Are we supposed to be overhauling the squad in the summer? I'm sure I read that. In which case you would think the out of contract players like Stephens, Long and Fraser would be released, as well as flogging off a few, in order to release quite a bit from the wage bill and help bring new players in. We need quality over quantity next season as we don't have an awful lot of it at present. I quite like Stephens for his passion and the ability to look as if he's about to punch someone but he's probably a good Championship quality CB at best. He did well to make the leap from League One to Premier League squad player with us but we need better. Hopefully he'll go back to Middlesbrough once we buy Djed Spence and Dael Fry... 😀
  19. There are a few decent frees I'd like to see us pursue. Lingard showed at West Ham he has something and we need to improve our AMs but I think he's go to bigger than us - maybe back to the Hammers. Also, I don't think trying to get Tarkowski on a free is beyond the realms of possibility. He would instantly improve our CBs. Yes there is competition for him but I'd be surprised if we weren't looking at him. Other Prem frees as a possible: Nketiah, Origi, Saiss, Schlupp, Elneny, Gross, Longstaff, Amartey, Ayew. (Source TransferMrkt, which also has Stephens and McCarthy still listed as out of contract this summer, so maybe it isn't reliable)
  20. Cos I hate Liverpool. 😒 (Is that allowed? 😜)
  21. Looks good. I guess Liverpool have a sell on clause though so that would be annoying!
  22. Yes with good management. We'd lose a few players, JWP, KWP, Salisu, Tino, SArmstrong, possibly Bednarek as he's an international, but we'd still have a strong squad with what's left, plus the money to strengthen. When we went down in 2005 we had a terrible squad, a lot of old players and chaff that Redknapp had panic bought - but even then we probably should have gone back up. If we went down this season we have good quality Championship players (and better) so I'd expect us to challenge for promotion. McCarthy Valery/New Stephens/Simeu Lyanco Perraud/Small Romeu Diallo Redmond Tella Armstrong Adams or something like that.
  23. Well I guess I'll have to avoid Talksport on my commute in the morning... #liverpoollovefest
  24. I’d take Bompey winning if Liverpool lost tonight. Then City win the league (after Saints miraculously beat them) and Chelsea win the cup.
  25. I'd love Forest to beat Bournemouth, principally as I started supporting football when Forest were in the top flight and they had players like Jason Lee etc. Plus I don't think Forest are ready made for the Prem yet unlike Bournemouth so that would help with our inevitable relegation battle (that'll get some backs up) next season. Also it would make the last day interesting.
