Newcastle and Leeds will definitely be stronger next season, as will Everton if they survive. We absolutely need to sort this team out by signing some quality players or we will be in big trouble next season. I like Ralph but maybe in the summer it is time to make a change of manager and freshen stuff up. Vieira for example took a Palace team that were used to treading water under Hodgson (much like us) to a more attacking team that will probably finish top half.

Get home from lunch with parents, check score, 4 nil. Logging off and I'm going for a nap. Seems our seasonal goal fest is incoming.

Thought I'd stick this here. We're roughly mid-table for injuries this season. It's no surprise to see some relegation threatened teams have had the most injuries. Also Palace, Wolves and West Ham's squads have largely been untested, particularly Palace's who seem to have been able to keep their first XI largely intact.

I can't get onto Grand Old Team from my work computer (which has blocks) as it is now considered a malicious website. I've not had this trouble before last night so I wonder if it's been hacked! Toffeetalk will have to do then.

I'll take it, in fact more so because Newcastle would just buy their way out of the division and askew results for other teams, whereas I don't think Everton will have the financial clout without selling some stars. Always interesting to see a "big boy" go down because it makes next year's Championship even more interesting to see how they cope with life after relegation. Norwich, Watford and Burnley going down wouldn't be as intriguing.

At least one, if not two AMs IMO. It depends on how good the youth AMs have done this season but I haven't heard much about Watts or Ferry on loan. Smallbone I guess can play there but surgery is needed. For years we've had quantity but not quality in our AM positions so it's refreshing to hear we aim to amend that. Also we have 9 subs spaces next season with 5 able to be used, so a stronger squad will be important (it will also help us bed younger players into the first team if we actually happen to be winning games).

Definitely surprised at Redmond. Unless he's said he's not happy and wants to leave or unless we see him as a saleable player for money, for a club of our size he definitely is a squad asset and, though he can be infuriating, he's had a decent season when he's been fit. Theo is a no brainer and in no way will someone come in permanently for him unless they're stupidly rich and don't care about his wages, although perhaps a loan could be done. Moussa is weird, he seemed to start well but faded and is made of glass. There's a player in there but he's not the Mane we hoped he might be. That's three of our AMs going, leaving Stu, Tella, Moi and the youngsters. I assume we plan a squad overhaul in the summer. Hopefully this is a sign that the new owners might give us a teensy bit of room to spend.

This is still a strong Chelsea team but with Brentford smashing them they are definitely up for another beating. Most of their defence is off in the summer to Barcelona (apparently) so some of their heads may be in other places, and not to mention they are still in the Champions League against Madrid which may be on their minds too. That said their recent form before Brentford is actually quite good, so it could go either way. I'd take a draw to be honest but I don't see why, if we can try to capture our performances of 5/6 games ago, we can't get the 3 points. Strongest team again please - I think questions can only be asked of the striking positions - Adams and Armstrong for me. I'd like to see them play together as the season peters out.

We lost to Watford so it's them I hope stay up over Everton! I would love to see Everton go down. Tough that it means a West Ham win today but I'd take it.

Close long ranger from JWP
-
Until I see him wearing a Saints shirt on a novel unveiling video from the media team, I'm not getting my hopes up on Tete.
-
If Chelsea are anything like the Chelsea of old, not realising the talent they have at their disposal, they'll probably sell him in the summer. Mind you if they're 'cash strapped' they may want to hold on to the likes of Gallagher and Broja.

The assist to the assist.

Good to see we're getting the recruitment right for the future.

Ooh shot from KWP
-
Blimey just checked it - 5-4 down in the 91st minute and they won.
-
Stones injured in the warm up so White comes on. Another Saints link however tenuous
-
3 CBs at home? Southgate, the Hassenhuttl of national football. 😀 ...and RWB isn't KWP's strongest position so hopefully he isn't ripped to shreds by the media if he doesn't have a great game.
-
He's a good squad player and I would keep him but he should not be first choice in AM and that's the problem. Redmond and Moi should be back ups to Stu and a new 10. In every position on the pitch bar full back (and arguably CM though you could say we could upgrade on Romeu) we're one player short of having a great first team. Fingers crossed we get the recruitment right in the summer.

#bringBalehome OK it's not a real hashtag and it'll never happen, but it'd be neat to see him back at SMS next season. He's still got it. Great win for Wales against a difficult Austria side. Scotland or Ukraine now in their way.

Delighted for him. Consistently excellent even when others around him fail. Seems to be getting better too. Thanks Spurs... this will annoy them a bit more.

Who for? All our CBS have been crap lately. Salisu is our best CB and needs to play - he's still learning the game. Let's be thankful we're not part of the relegation battle while all our CBs have forgotten how to play football.
-
Harsh on Smallbone - he's a youngster coming back from a bad injury, and by most accounts before that injury he was playing some good football. Just because he had a bad game last week playing out of position doesn't mean we should be looking to cull him from the team. Stephens has, I believe, signed a new contract, and poor though he was yesterday, he is a capable 4th choice centre back. The problem is with Lyanco injured and Bednarek not in the right frame of mind, we pretty much have to play him. CB is a must sign in the summer - a first choice to partner Salisu (yes that means keeping Salisu - he has more to learn and should be doing that with us). Long is OOC so he's gone anyway, and I can see Theo running his contract down next season. Anyway for me, I see this situation as this: GK: Forster, Lewis and Caballero will go, leaving us with McCarthy so there is definite work to do there. A first choice please - maybe even a back up or talented youngster on loan. FB: Full backs are fine if we can keep hold of Tino and KWP (I'm sure they'll have their admirers). Perraud seems to be a decent LB when required and we also have Small. Whilst Valery has played himself into contention to stay with his CB performances, I'd still be letting him go. Still with 4 FBs we should be OK bar the worst injury crisis. CB: A first choice please to partner Salisu (who we must try to keep - it would be beneficial to both of us but I worry his head is being turned). If Salisu goes then we really need 2 first choice CBS - a tough ask but we don't know what is happening with Bednarek. Lyanco 3rd choice, Stephens 4th choice. CM: JWP, Romeu, Diallo. Is that enough? Does Smallbone count as a 4th? I'd say so. As good a partnership as JWP and Rom are, I still think we miss a Wanyama-esque beast of a DM. Still, not important when our budget will be tight. AM: SArmstrong, Redmond, Elyounoussi, Djenepo, Walcott - I've been crying out for ages for our AM slots to be addressed. Moi stepped up this year but is still probably a level under where we need to be. A first choice AM is a definite for me especially as the "squad AMs" (Djenepo/Walcott) aren't very good. Str: Adams, AArmstrong, Tella - we need to replace Broja with a first choice (I guess AArmstrong was supposed to be our first choice this season but it hasn't happened for him. As a back up - fine, but we are lucky we got Broja). Long doesn't need replacing so long as Tella can stay fit but surgery needs to be done. First choice please. So I'm looking at a FIRST CHOICE GK, CB (at least 1 , 2 if Salisu goes), AM and Striker. 4 positions (potentially 5) that we need to upgrade. I think CB will be our biggest concern followed by finding a goalscoring striker. With our budget that is going to be tough, plain and simple. IF one of those positions can be ignored, it is probably AM (as long as nobody leaves) but that means we're stuck with the same bunch as this season. Hopefully our scouting is as decent as it was last summer. Newcastle won't be down there next season and I think Bournemouth may do well when they come up, and the likes of Everton and Leeds (if they stay up) will make sure their escapades of this season will not be repeated by spending money. I hope we have a talented youngster or two up our sleeves...

I like Fraser but his time is up. We had some decent times with him and he’s a good shot stopper but has distribution issues and we can do better. McC as number two to a new number 1 please.

They are class. They have gears beyond our dreams.
