  1. Yep, a minus 12 start means you need to get close to or hit 50 points - mid-table form. It's not impossible but as we found out back in League One with the minus ten, it hands around your neck for a while as we only won one game until October. I'm not sure how Everton are still signing players but apparently they're bringing in a Villa midfielder for £10 million. I know they expect to get big money for Onana and Braithwaite but maybe get that money before you start spending it! Villa are selling Douglas Luiz and bringing in a couple of their players, one of which is Iling-Junior the England U21 players, and are also close to signing Ian Maatsen from Chelsea.
  2. On the positive side, a point effectively gets us out the group - so we can now use the Slovenia game to try a different line up/tactics etc.
  3. Or Zeus or whoever.
  4. Good job the roof was closed for that game or Thor would have pelted us with lightning bolts.
  5. See it's quite a simple solution for Gareth because Trent is a right back by trade. So what he needs to do is: 1) Move Trent to right back where he's more comfortable. 2) Move Walker to CB because you have to accommodate him somewhere and Trent now has his position. 3) Now that Walker has Stones' position, you'll have to move Stones into midfield because he's quite good there for City or something. 4) Now that you have Stones in midfield, there's no need for Rice - but as we have to accommodate him somewhere, and he's quite good going forwards, he gets moved into the 10 position. 5) With Bellingham relinquishing his space to Rice, he'll have to play as a striker because you can't leave Bellingham out. GOAT. 6) Hmm, Ok, that means Kane has to play somewhere. He's tall and slowing down, stick him at centre back alongside Walker. He can be the threat at corners with headers. 7) Guehi is dropped, because he's been too good this tournament. 8 ) Saka is left footed, so he's wasted on the right. To left back you go Mr Bukayo. 9) With the right-wing spot free, we can move Phil Foden there because he can play anywhere. 10) Trippier to left wing because apparently he's really good on the left. 11) Pickford into midfield because he's good at pinging long balls. 12) Ramsdale in goal. Job done. It's so easy.
  6. This has a late Danish goal written all over it. If we were watching Saints, we'd be saying the same about the opposition. I just hope the subs can spark us into life.
  7. Saka one of the few highlights of England's tournament so far. I wonder if he'll get subbed off instead of Foden...
  8. I refuse to acknowledge it as a possibility. Until it happens.
  9. A point is actually a good result... says Southgate post match. I predict it. Or Bellingham will save us with a moment of genius and Southgate will say we played well.
  10. Same old shite. How can the fans see what we saw on Sunday and then the manager names the same side? Best players on paper don't always equal the best team!
  11. So many late goals this tournament! Madness!
  12. This has affected a lot of Tube car parks recently, we’ve had customer complaints about Osterley car park having fake QR codes. We’ve been covering them up if we spot them but the car parks are run by SABA, not LUL so there’s not a lot we can do otherwise.
  13. Awful… RIP Saint Elijah.
  14. Tougher fixtures to start with please while we finalise the squad by the end of the window, then easier fixtures at the end of the season when we may need points on the board. Brentford at home is my prediction for first fixture.
  15. I made this comment straight after Bellingham’s goal… But the simple fact is that while we were poor on the whole, 6 more results like that and we’re coming home with the trophy. (Actually, technically, we could draw one of our next two and lose the other, still go through the group stage and then win the next 4 and we’d still have the trophy.) (Actually actually we could not win another game and still come home with the trophy if we draw one of the next two games then succeed in 4 penalty shoot outs!) It’s a results business ultimately… but anyway I do think England will improve.
  16. Listening to TalkSport on the way to work just now and they ran through Foden's stats. Truly woeful. There's no doubt that he's probably have been in over 90 per cent of people's starting line ups tonight but he did very little and his place is in jeopardy. Eze, Palmer, Gordon - all those will be chomping at the bit to get game time and yet Foden stayed on for the whole game. As did Kane, who also did very little. It's one of those weird results where people talk about the performance more than the win - effectively we only need a point from the next two and we're through - but that performance was poor. Fair play to Serbia though who got better as the game went on. England Credit where it's deserved though, Bellingham was excellent in that first half as was Saka, Rice was great all game and I thought Pickford and Guehi had very good games too. Defensively we were solid, which at least lets us build a foundation on which to improve. But nobody will be scared to play us just yet. Hopefully it's one of those tournaments where we get better as it goes on. I'm working for the next England game but I'm in the pub for Slovenia - and I'm looking forward to it.
  17. A win is a win. But that was a hard second half.
  18. It's not been a classic but if we can hold on, it'd be a big win as this is our toughest of the 3 fixtures IMO.
  19. Good save Pickford
  20. I'd even take Gordon for something different.
  21. Foden has been off it tonight. Get him off.
  22. Kane off the bar. Eek
  23. Bellingham excellent so far. Rice, Saka and Guehi good. The rest... meh.
  24. I don't mind Trent and I picked him for his position today but he started iffily. However he made a good interception for the Walker chance and now good footwork for the free kick. Mixed bag so far. Foden hasn't been great so far, Saka and Bellingham the picks and Guehi has been good at the back.
  25. Come on Kyle that was a great chance!
