Tim Sherwood has thrown his hat into tbe ring too. ð

Ralph Hassenhuttl now the bookies favourite after Rowatt backed away. I won't lie, I'd feel a bit disappointed if he went there. But to employ the manager that lost 9 nil against them not too long ago... Leicester are funny.

I can't see anything wrong with the system as it is. Just seems like a way for someone to make more money because of more fixtures. Someone is going to get slaughtered in the Prem, such is the gap. If we finish 7th this year, despite trying we probably don't deserve to be in the play offs. Under the new rules, we'd have a chance. When does it end? Top ten? Top half? Play off between a Championship team and the Premier League's 17th team? And yet, I wouldn't be surprised to see it voted in.

Probably one of the dickheads singing 9 nil at half time. Fucking grow up!

Palace's old keeper Guaita may be 39 but he'd have been a better bet surely!

The funny thing is, if it had finished 3-3 we'd still be happy today with the comeback. But to make history and win was just the icing on the cake.

Best hope Peretz doesn't get injured or sent off then. I have never seen Long play and nor do I wish to. Let alone this guy. At least Alex was experienced. We could well have seen Alex's last appearance for us then as he's out of contract in the summer.

There are so many varied line up choices on here i bet it's a headache for Tonda to decide what to do. Go strong and win, he gets plaudits. Go strong and lose, at least he put a strong side out. Rest loads and win, he's a genius. Rest loads and lose, he's a knob and didn't take the cup seriously. ð Anyone getting the line up bang on gets a cheap bottle of Sainsbury's Vodka. ðĪŠ

Harsh. But as we're never achieved a 4-3 comeback win before, I'd probably have done the same at 3-3!

Hmm. Personally I think Birmingham will finish higher up in the table than that, and Norwich too. I also think Ipswich will get autos over Coventry. I think Stoke and Watford finish lower, Sheffield United higher. I also, reluctantly, personally think Portsmouth will finish above Leicester and WBA. But then I am no supercomputer and am basing it off recent form and hunches more than anything. I'd take 6th with bells on though.

To be fair, that's how I feel about Saints, apart from 4-0! When we got 5 against Charlton earlier in the season I was very comfortable. We should do that more often. ð

I think I read an article when we had Still that he said contract negotiations were ongoing. It does need to be sorted by the end of the season though if possible or I think he'll be gone in a summer where we will already need a hefty rebuild, whatever League we're in.
-
So that's Fatawu rested then. ð I do think they might field some of their younger players. They seem to be crying out to play Aluko at right back over Ricardo and Kristiansen over Thomas at left back. I think Monga is injured or he'd be playing. They will also have no Mukasa, Vestergaard, Choudhury, Soutter, Ramsey, Aribo or Cordova-Reid. They're down to the bare bones.
-
Agree - but I think we got him on the cheap from what he should have cost because he was injured badly when we signed him. When he is fit, he#s excellent.
-
I don't think Parker will last the season. Just a hunch
-
I'd slip him a one year contract extension either way, if he takes it - although he may want a longer deal somewhere. He'd only be 30, he's clearly got some class, and he would be an option in the Prem to come off the bench for, hopefully, the World Class striker we sign in the summer. Plus a one year deal would protect us from his recurring injury problems. There would be a whole host of Championship teams that would take a punt on him in the summer, if we released him, even with his injury record.

I want a cup run, even if it's to the next round and we come up against Arsenal, City or Liverpool. It will boost morale. We know we can beat Leicester, we know they are a poor side and we know not to let the first half from yesterday happen again. And yet... there is a little tiny weenie, miniscule piece of me that wants us to concentrate on the League. It's tricky. I do not think we should make sweeping changes, this isn't the Carabao. We need to put out a competitive side with maybe a few changes that won't completely diminish us in quality. It's a tie where, if we win, great. But one that if we lose, with our Championship play-off credentials becoming more important, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Leicester will probably think the same, being that they're now firmly in a relegation battle, which makes me think they may not be up for it as much as they were in the first half yesterday. Also Mukasa, who was good last night on his debut, can't play against us as he is cup tied Personally my team would be something like: Peretz (McCarthy is out and I'm not sure I want to see what George Long is like unless I have to). Jelert (Rest Bree for the League) THB Wood (or Quarshie but Wood seems to be the bench option currently for Tonda) Welington (he could be rested for Manning but against Fatawu, Leicester's only decent player, I wouldn't feel comfortable) Charles (for Downes who I'd give a rest to) Bragg (Jander needs a game off) Matsuki (rest Fellows) Azaz Edozie (Scienza rest, plus I just like Edozie.) Stewart Essentially I'd keep the spine the same, although I've changed both CMs I still consider Charles as a first choice. CM is the position we can rotate without a drastic dip in quality.

Palace will need a new manager come the summer. I guess it depends on whether he wants to jump straight back into management or bide his time and wait until the summer. There may be a few Prem jobs available come the summer (Burnley probably though they'll be in the Championship, maybe Forest) and, additionally, there's the World Cup which he may have punditry duties for (as he has before for the Euros I believe). He'll have offers but the stint at Spurs won't have helped his reputation at so-called bigger clubs.
-
The most inevitable inevitabilities that was ever inevitably likely to happen. Spurs are in a relegation battle (presently) and there was no way they're bad enough on paper at least. The media will still refer to them as a top 6 side though.
-
We have gotten better value for money out of the three for sure. We cashed in, as SR do, at possibly the right time. Unless he starts influencing games then his value will dip, or he'll go on loan. If we are still in the Championship next season, I'd take him back on loan as he offers something different to Fellows.

I used to drink it exclusively when I was a young'un, and I'd defend it to the hills. I hadn't had it for many years until summer last year when I had a pint - and it is, indeed, piss. I'm rather glad my palate has grown up. Moretti or Camden Hells for me now, if I do have lager. To keep this Saints related, was Jander drunk last night? ð

Same family but Leicester fans loved Vichai who was the owner when they won the League, but after his helicopter crash death his son took over. They won the FA cup in 2022 but with some players still there from their League win - then got relegated the following year. They hate the current owner.

I was following the Foxes forum last night through the whole game - it was as bipolar as ours. More interestingly from the moment Ross scored one back, there were an awful lot of them that just knew they would capitulate. They lack leaders, quality, mentality, fitness and they despair at their defence. Their players cost a lot, their defence is ageing, they are on ridiculous wages, they're financially broken and their owners are shite. And now they have Aribo. Quite simply, if they want to survive, they either have to try to outscore teams or hope that Blackburn, Pompey or WBA are more shit than they are (I still think it will be Blackburn). I don't mind Leicester - but if they went down I worry for their future. It's not like Luton sinking through the divisions, their players weren't on such crazy wages. Leicesters are and relegation could kill them, not that I think they will go down, but you never know. I got 4 hours sleep overnight before work, so buzzing was I after that. Thankfully I am at a quiet station today (touch wood) so I can peruse the play-off rival forums and see if we're getting a mention.

Potentially. We have the cup game now for a bit of League relief but they need to keep up the second half effort in the next two games following that. Without getting too carried away, home games against Charlton and QPR and Wednesday away - 7-9 points from those and I would bet we actually find ourselves IN the play-offs, if not pushing for higher. Even 6 points would be a decent return. From 37 years of being a Saints supporter we have had ups and downs, but usually when we have the ups, we go all Saintsy and do something stupid. At half time last night it felt like just that. To turn it around and win was amazing and completely unexpected for a team like us. And yes, we went from 45 minutes in with a play-off finish becoming unlikely to being slap bang in the race by full time. No more first halves like last night again though please.
