Charles not playing is a surprise as he hasn't played too much since his injury and with Downes and Jander fit too i thought it would have been good for him to get more minutes under his belt. That said Romeu and Bragg is still a decent enough midfield as long as Rom still has the legs. We need big games from Matsuki and Edozie and it'll be interesting to see big Cyle get a start.

Today's Championship fixtures: Ideal results probably: Derby draw, Sheffield United win, Preston draw or Watford win, Blackburn win and a surprise Wednesday win. But I think Derby, Preston, QPR and Milwall will win which won't help us.

It is, however, acceptable to call the Leicester winger today by his surname. 😎

You were the closest Chalet. That's close, but no cigar! *quaffs cheap Vodka*

Completely changed bar Archer. Bit of a surprise as I thought we'd have gone stronger but I guess we're keeping the first XI fit for the League. Youngsters on the bench too. Not sure what to think of that really.

Thought Mukasa was cup tied but apparently a new rule says you can play for two clubs in the competition. He was their bright spark on Tuesday. No Fatawu there.

I'm hoping he's a bit of a confidence player. Run of games, nick a goal and maybe keeps going. But he doesn't suit the formation we've been playing unless Tonda does something different today. I've been watching League One Burton vs Premier League West Ham. Awful game, lack of quality. Come on Burton! Our former youngster Kegs Chauke is on.

Hopefully! I'm torn. I'd rather Pompey dropped of course but l do think Leicester or WBA dropping would be the bigger story. I think WBA may just get out of it anyway with their players so it'll be between Pompey, Leicester and Blackburn. Charlton are far from safe either but you'd think they may already have enough points and are still winning games.

We never used to bother with Valentine's Day, as the anniversary of our first date is on the 20th. But after 20 years together she's been making hints this year and I've been with her long enough to pick up on those hints. So a card and a Chinese it is. Who says romance is dead. 🤪

I really want Blackburn to improve and make the relegation battle interesting. You'd think Oxford will probably join Wednesday but after that you have Blackburn, WBA, Leicester and Pompey all within dropping distance.

Who's we? I very much do want us to get to the play-offs to give ourselves a chance of promotion and I'd bet the players do too. Sure we haven't been great this season at times and we are nowhere near ready for the Prem but that's for SR to try to get right this time. Otherwise there's no point fighting for points in this league. None of the clubs that are potentially going up are ready for the Prem IMO but, as the Prem is the prize for winning in this League, we might as well fight for it. I'm not saying a play-off win will necessarily happen again but which Saints fan wouldn't want another day out at Wembley if we got there... I'd like a cup run of course but the chances are we won't get much further. Wembley is more likely from our League finish than from the cup.

I think they'd struggle to get that. Fatawu is obvious, probably 30 to 40 million but after that they'd struggle to get more than 10-15 million for a player. Mavididi may have some value, Skipp and Winks possibly but I struggle to get close to 150 million. Their squad is old, poor or running out of contract and a lot of them are on huge wages and their young players aren't exactly doing much, Monga aside perhaps. Even Jordan James who has been one of their best players this season is only on loan. Of course if they did go down, Fatawu's value would probably dip as clubs wanting him would be dealing with a League One team. They're in real trouble. From what I've read the owner, the son of the guy they love, has lost interest and barely comes back from Thailand now.

Despite being only 4 points off before Leicester, it seems only now people are starting to take notice. Yes we've been inconsistent, at times rubbish and even our own fans were still talking about a relegation battle only a month ago but this League has been poor this season and we've never been far from going on a run into the play-offs. Even Swansea in 15th are only 5 points off, have won a few games recently and have a goal scoring striker. Hell it's unlikely but even Norwich in 16th are in brilliant form and even they're only 8 away. The League is wide open. Even Hull and Milwall and, if they go on a bad run which i don't think they will, even Ipswich can still be caught by teams behind them. We're not all just fighting for the Wrexham spot but for all the play-off spots currently, certainly 3 of them. But being noticed is what makes me, as a fan, a bit uneasy. I feel up until now we've been sneaking up the table under the guise of being mid-table because of the teams on similar points ahead of us. Now the pressure starts to come. Do we have the players to cope with a bit of pressure, with being noticed? The Leicester turnaround suggests we might. That comeback signalled character, belief, unity, and showed that they understand that we have something worth fighting for. I bet they are on cloud 9 right now. We have the better squad on paper, we're in form, and we've now proven we can fight for results. We are very much in the play-off race.

Or Dyche. I now don't think Dyche will last the season. 😀
