  1. I would happily back him for this. Just a shame so many professional players/clubs didn't back his cause financially. I realise that they must be asked every 5 seconds for a donation, but I thought that they could have done a little more.
  2. Bit harsh. Hogget maybe.
  3. A Glasgow and Battyman tag team. Brilliant!
  4. I really can't understand people like you. Whinge whinge ****ing whinge. Football is about entertainment, and you have said quite categorically that you find it dull. Why on earth then do you keep on going if you find it dull? Do you really have nothing else less dull to do?
  5. I look forward not backwards.
  6. Well if we went in to next season with that lot + Fonte, then I don't think we would do much better.
  7. It may well be the case, and if so, while I won't be disappointed with using what we have, I will be disappointed by Les saying that he would only go when we had a replacement.
  8. You are presuming that most sane people think your list is full of ****s. Personally I see a bunch of nummamorous people, and their behaviour is what nummamorous people do. I think that there is a certain naive hope from many of us, myself included, that someone will break the mould. But they don't.
  9. Is that what is important to younger people these days???
  10. A good and old friend died just before Xmas aged 44. I found that a very sad day. I found his funeral just as sad. Tomorrow, I will wake up, get the kids' breakfast ready and carry on as normal. I'll hopefully do that on Sunday, before picking up my old man. That might be a sad day, because the dementia he has might mean that it is his last game at Saints. I'll come back from the game feeling happy/ambivalent/dejected do the normal things in the afternoon, and go to bed knowing life's OK. I'll wake up on Monday morning, get the kids' breakfast ready, get them ready for school, go to work etc etc.
  11. coupled with some supercilious posters.....what's not to love?
  12. The hysteria from some is a tad weird/embarrassing
  13. Do WHU have a good DM to protect him?
  14. I want to know what MLT meant by his tweet that he hadn't acted as a captain should. Can we find out now he has gone?
  15. Always thought his Adam's Apple was too big.
  16. I can't help myself but I find this all a little bit amusing. From signing for Utd in the summer, he signs for Utd. You got the wrong Utd. And his statement....lol.
  17. Maybe but he is still a ****
  18. Stoke got Berahino for £12m rising to £15m!!! **** me this football world is mad.
  19. FFS, I really do hate it when people drop this sort of **** without quantifying it.
  20. Development fee would be what? £4-6m Spurs shafted Liverpool by submitting a bid for him which upped his development fee to £6.5m + £1.5m add ons, which is a record.
  21. But we didn't sell Mané for £30m, and just because this is a silly price, doesn't mean all prices are going to be stupid
  22. I can only presume it is to make sure someone else doesn't get him on a free when his time is up. He may yet turn around and say that he doesn't want to go to Stoke now, and WBA will be left with him and not profit from a sale. Some have said that this is what he wanted to do, but maybe he has decided that it is a question of cutting his nose off to spite his face, and might as well move now.
  23. Yoshida never really been given a fair crack and maybe an extended run would do him good. Many players (esp strikers) coming from weaker leagues are given time to adjust, even a whole season. Yoshi in his first season did struggle to adapt a bit. Then he was replaced by Toby, Lovren and VVD, and fell down the pecking order. Confidence and an extended run might prove him to be better than a lot think. Maybe being captain for the night vs Norwich will also give him a boost.
  24. Couple of questions... 1) If the 15% rise comes in, is this going to be ring-fenced and when is the next 15% increase going to be? 2) As typically about 20-25% of council tax raised from people (as opposed to central government grants) goes for pensions (or used to), is there not already not enough money being raised? That's rhetorical as obviously there isn't, but more that councils often spend money elsewhere. I do wonder how many people have ever read the council financial statements. Surrey's is interesting. Various things like £125m PFI liability. £2.8bn pension liabilities. They've got long term liabilities of £1.8bn (compared to Hants CC long term liabilities of £584m, and pension liability of just over £1bn)
  25. Ah, but do you replace at ANY cost?
