  1. I don't mind not bringing anyone in. This season has 1 game left, maybe 2 if we beat Liverpool. Other than that, we have to scrape 12 to 16 points together. What would be annoying is being told that Fonte would only go if there was a replacement. If there was no intention of keeping to that, much better to not say it in the first place.
  2. You have no idea what went on behind the scenes. Maybe he didn't want to play them. Certainly if he thought he was going to be going to Man U, he might want to keep himself available. But that is 100% conjecture, much like a lot of what others are posting.
  3. I admire your optimism. I am just going to wait and see rather than have any expectations either way.
  4. But Lambert wasn't looking to move. Wasn't it a case of LFC saying they want him, and SFC telling him that they did and if he wanted to, he could go? But agree, written transfer is the way to do things, even if loyalty bonuses are supposedly forfeited.
  5. Nope, its more that a) is there much point in getting too bothered about something you have no affect on and b) that football is such an unattractive business when it comes to money. But then, I am sure that others are less ambivalent than me for very different reasons.
  6. Spurs have a £750m bill for the stadium. Fonte for 3 years is about £20m. I guess they have to work out whether the current injury they face might cost them more than that.
  7. Irrelevant..... he has to be better than Yoshida as he isn't Yoshida!!
  8. As Dutchie points out, when a player decides to leave, his performance drops to 80%, not by 80%.
  9. Ah, an expert on defending speaks up. Are you a coach or are you just pontificating like the rest of us? The biggest difference that I see between the two is speed. Yoshida was ranked in some paper as 11th fastest in the league. Fonte is glacial by comparison and as a result often can grab a player as they pass. I also think Yoshida is better with his head. He may not read the game as well and he may make more misplaced passes, but Fonte hasn't been great this season. You can look back at what he did for his country if you want, but that does not make a difference to Saints.
  10. As managers generally last about half of a contract, I doubt it.
  11. I know we all look at our individual club's as being better than the rest. More attractive than the next. But really....Stoke! Why would you want to go there??
  12. Oh in that case, we really should sign him then! Oops!! Well maybe not.
  13. Zlatan 3/10/81 SRL 16/2/82
  14. He does seem to have been completely written off by many here, and I suspect that most have never seen him play pre-injury. In fact of the 11 times he has featured (albeit a couple of last min subs) we have lost one game. While he has been on the pitch only 2 goals have been scored.
  15. Records are there to be broken.
  16. Out of interest, why, apart from the fact that he is coming back from injury, do you not think he can do a job?
  17. Fair enough - you didn't, but you stated that he has gone about it the right way, which he really hasn't as his recent contract extension that he signed, he should have taken that into account and insisted then that it should go until 2019.
  18. So if he wanted a 3 year contract, why did he sign one that ended in 18 months time??? Strewth, some of you guys seem to think that the club should bend over and take it and the whim of every player.
  19. Assumption is the mother of all **** ups. And you are assuming quite a bit at this stage. You may well be right, but I can't understand why everyone is so easy to jump on the back of the club. They haven't changed their stance at all since he signed his improved contract in Oct 15.
  20. Didn't CHina offer £38m for Ighalo last season??
  21. It's age. When you get a little older, you mellow. It's what happens.
  22. On toast. Yummm.
  23. Personally don't want either. I'd far rather a player coming to us and seeing us as a step up, rather than a step down from a bigger club. I know our 2 ex Chelsea have done really well.
  24. TBH, not many save for the strike force. What ever people say about Redmond, not only am I a fan of his, but he adds a different dimension that we cannot do without.
  25. Maybe he said to his agent that he wanted to go to United, and the agent got the wrong United.
