  1. Agree that Wigan wouldn't be too shabby a place to go, but wonder whether it might be more to do with squad rotation what with their participation in the Europa Cup. [when is the Europa Cup format being changed?]
  2. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2384588/Wigan-want-sign-Southampton-forward-Emmanuel-Mayuka-loan.html Can't see this happening unless we sign another striker.
  3. I know it's not what people mean, but we have added Chambers and Isgrove to the squad, so there are 4 new faces so to speak. Not the headline grabbing superstar signings that people want, but I love watching developing youngsters. Also very glad Punch is still with us - seems I rate him higher than others and thought he was our most inventive player last season. It didn't always work, but.....

  5. I'm watching without the German commentary http://cricfree.tv/live-football-streaming-chs1.php and I am hearing a lot of "PUSH UP, PUSH UP". A lot.
  6. How strong a side is the Schalke one, what with them being that much closer to their start of the season?
  7. So the Japanese want us to stay in EU so that their investments are protected! Great. And what about what might be best for us in this country. As for trade, maybe people should look at where our balance of payments deficit lies. Say, rounding off, it is £40bn a year. With EU it is running at about (give or take a billion or two) £40bn and with the rest of the world it is about neutral. I can't find figures at this time save for 2010, where the EU deficit was £46.3bn and rest of the world was in surplus to the tune of £10.3bn Do you really envisage the EU kissing good bye to £40bn net worth of trade?
  8. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2373176/Manchester-United-change-club-badge--Premier-League-clubs-crest-evolved.html I used to love our crest, but now I wouldn't really mind if it changed as it does look a bit twee.
  9. This might be true, but as we have little chance of signing Leandro, so if this is the case, RL won't be going.
  10. If Man U buy Bale, then to me, Spurs are most likely to sign Damiao. Loose a great player, and another has to be signed to replace. Who knows what Napoli are up to? They seem to be interested (well at least according to the media) in everyone.
  11. It's quite obvious really!! I'll start off and others can finish it off...... Shaw Clyne Cork Jrod Lambert Adam Punch Think it might be pushing it to have Kelvin in, but.....
  12. Nuclear weapons......are we really going to drop the bomb on anyone? If we get to that stage, then frankly, I think the world would be a better place not to be in. Would we use the bomb as a retaliatory weapon or a first strike one? Either way, I can't see the collateral damage to civilians being something that we would accept. You can have it as a deterrent, but who is going to nuke us? The biggest risk (currently) is from a dirty bomb from some terrorist group, and you can't send Trident to sort them out. My personal view is that we keep the nukes so that we get to keep our permanent seat on the UN Security Council. The Americans sure like that, as they can't rely on the French to counter Russia and China, but do we really need to be there? Our influence in the world is not what it used to be. Also, the economies of all developed countries, as well as a lot of developing one, are so linked to each other, that it serves no purpose to go to war with each other. There may be a lot of brinkmanship going on, but really, it's little more than sabre rattling. There's no point China nuking EU, as then they lose most of their customers.
  13. I agree, but there is miles more mileage with this as I turn on Talksport and the first thing I hear is that ManU have offered Spurs £60m for Bale. I guess the two might be tied in respect of the (partial) funding of a Bale offer nd as a replacement.
  14. What a very very very thick builder. If you are going to post a video like that, much better to fight off the premature ejaculation and wait till the job is done.
  15. Slow day here so I added the 12 games that BT were showing Chelsea 12 Liverpool 12 Man City 11 Man U 11 Arsenal 10 Spurs 10 Newcastle 9 Palace 7 Everton 7 Sunderland 5 Villa 5 Fulham 5 Norwich 5 Swansea 4 Wet Spam 4 Stoke 4 Hull 4 Cardiff 3 West Brom 3 SAINTS 3
  16. I feel for Punch. He was one of our more creative players last season yet it seems he is going to not make many appearances
  17. This was not a MP signing so presume it was a NA signing and somewhat of a panic one given the state of our defence on occasions. IIRC he arrived the same day as MP (or +/- 1 day). I don't see it as a total farce, just the signing of a manager who lost his job. Why he was signed when NC knew that NA was getting the chop is the question. Maybe he too thought that it was imperative to get a defender in. Although he wasn't used, if it costs a few bob, then why not just look at it as an insurance policy so that we stayed up to benefit from the massive increase in TV revenue.
  18. In all honesty, that is THE best thing that he could have said.
  19. Whoever think Celtic aren't a big club are a little deluded. Financially: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-wiped-out-bank-debt-1703944 which is pretty good considering they don't have the EPL TV deal. However, Hartson like the rest of the media, have the blinkers on, while I have rose tinted glasses on. They all seem to think that the top of the PL is a closed shop and that only Man U/C, Arse, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool & Everton can fill the top 6 spots. Anyone else who might think about breaking into the top six are thought of as being fanciful and unrealistic. We aren't alone in being treated like this, and to be honest if I supported Newcastle or WHU, who are bigger than us (esp Newcastle) I would find this attitude even more tiresome. So if all these pundits approach the EPL top 6 as being a closed shop restricted to say the 7 clubs mentioned, then the transfer probably doesn't make any sense. But if you sign up to NC's vision, then the move makes a lot more sense. I really, really hope that we do well this season, not just because I am Saints, but to stick two fingers up at all those pundits who consider that the PL consists of, and let's be realistic, 6 teams (as Everton can be dropped of) with the rest just there to make up numbers. The pundits may well be proved right, but it is the attitude that is wholly wrong and has come about since Sky/PL came about and to me has ruined football.
  20. I like the rev counter for the spinners
  21. Rather than start a new thread, anyone know a good inexpensive laptop for the Mrs? Emails, word doc, maybe photos and probably iplayer type use. I got her a tablet but she hates Android (and Apple would be no better).
  22. MLG, missed that. Used to live under 1 mile away but moved back home a few years ago. Surprised that it would take the capacity from 25.7k to 30k but glad that they can do that, rather than have to move as it's always better if clubs can stay where they have developed.
  23. No - it's a renewal Unless I am being stupid, Kingsland Premium £705 vs £826
