  1. Re cancelling the last train - pretty sure the rail operator is required to pay for your taxi home
  2. 1 Keegan 2 Lambo 3 the best of the rest
  3. In more promising news my latest attempt to transfer does seem to have worked. Not sure we did anything different to the numerous previous attempts which were randomly cancelled, but now at least it says transfer “completed” for the first time. Lets hope we don’t get another random cancellation just before they get to the turnstiles…..
  4. Any other season ticket holders who are on holiday having difficult passing their ticket on? I’ve transferred our two on twice - and they have been accepted at the other end by the person I want to give them to. But then a few days later I have got an email saying the transfer is cancelled (now twice). Helpfully the email from the club notifying me of the cancellation says I should contact….. myself. any help much appreciated!
  5. 3-0 HT is not as cut and dried as it sounds. Im old enough to remember us losing twice in a row from 3-0 up at half time (tranmere and Birmingham I think?)
  6. Tbf, he did take the team from near the top of the league to relegation in less than a season - despite having the England striker up front and being able to sign another striker for a whisker under the British transfer record. Lawrie’s first season makes Selles and even Jones seem quite good. Maybe they would have won the cup for us in 2025 and taken us to runners up in 2033 if we had cut them a bit more slack? Not a serious suggestion re the recent two - but an interesting point that there is not a cat in hells chance Lawrie would have survived his first season these days.
  7. Absolutely brilliant stuff - probably the best ever post on this site by some margin. Having spent over 50 years following saints and read lots of books on our history, there are even a few new things in there for me.
  8. Opening discussion this morning - Me - we’ve lost the lead Wife (half asleep) - can’t you stop going on about it? Me - eh? I haven’t mentioned at all it since we walked the dog yesterday. Wife - oh, I thought you were talking about saints again
  9. Best case outcome would mean promoted 29 April (2 days after Stoke game, with Leicester failing to win at Preston) champions the next day - with Ipswich failing to win at Coventry Saints receive a sporting round of applause from all sides of the stadium as they present the trophy to the crowd in advance of the Leeds away fixture. COYR
  10. We now have 55 points - 5 points more than at the same point in 2012, when we were in the top 2 all season. We might need 100 points for top 2 this season!
  11. 6 o’bloody clock! Is this fixture sponsored by SCC traffic wardens department? They are going to have a field day with parking tickets on places you can normally always park for a match. looking forward to having to use up annual leave to attend a home game.
  12. Thanks for that - I suspect I’ve been to over 1000 matches over almost 50 years I I can’t recall it ever happening more than once in a game - and probably at most once a season too
  13. Yes - the Lino was next to it when the saints fan were calling it out, but this was obviously a joke, as we were suggesting an infringement by our own player. The Hull crowd were making loads of noise about it over the other side - it was a bit weird that the ref jogged all the way over to check twice in quick succession, finding no problem either time. Hardly critical stuff.
  14. What was all that nonsense from the Hull fans continuously claiming the ball wasn’t in the quadrant for our corners? And then the referee going over - twice on the trot - to check this crucial fact and that it was, clearly and obviously, all fine before allow the corner to be taken. lovely touch from the saints fans loudly trying to get him to come over and check for our own corners a few f times after that 🙂 And, of course, the icing on the cake was us scoring the winner in time added on for corner shithousery from the Hull supporters. 🤣🤣🤣
  15. Any ideas when the tickets might get sent out?
  16. I wonder if Ian Branfoot is available?
  17. I also vaguely remember Man City were destroyed in the league cup by a team managed by Nathan Jones, and won every other completion they entered in the same season a while back.
  18. Seem to remember in our first season in league one Norwich lost 7-1 at home in their first game (to Dean Hammond’s Colchester). Fans ripped up their new season tickets and threw them at the manager. They got promoted, two season running.
  19. Seems like a very good window to me - although I did think similar last year as we stood 7th in the league after demolishing Chelsea, with several new signings looking fantastic. Very glad we have a bit more experience and a bit more of a spine to the team now. Pity we failed to shift either of the panic buys from January - but quite a bit of dosh in the bank/reducing the debt. 8 or 9 out of 10. I’m really enjoying the championship so far.
  20. Big Ronisms are definitely in the clear in my book. A personal favourite is someone doing “a great arrive” to slot home.
  21. I think it’s true to say that VAR hasn’t changed this at all - they are just now moaning about VAR decisions, and the inconsistent use of VAR etc etc. of course, they need to talk about something to fill all that air time, meanwhile, I’ve been two games without VAR, six 6 saints goals and two penalties to celebrate instantly and unreservedly. it feels like proper football is back to me.
  22. I think I may have undercooked it. Perhaps it would be more like mccalliog to stokes who may or may not be onside (the linesman has been told to keep his flag down and let play unfold) Nice finish - but let’s see what VAR makes of it Very long wait if only stokes had slightly shorter sleeves he would have won himself a car, and he’s already booked driving lessons ( as the lines are put up on the big screen virtually on top of one another) - and Southampton go mad
  23. The thing is that there is the occasional howler - and you have rightly pointed out the worst one from a saints perspective. Horrendous. but I’m my opinion VAR ruins EVERY goal in every match. also McCalliog to stokes who’s onside 1-0 and Southampton go mad wins himself a car and he’s already booked…. Hang on…. turns out those driving lessons may not have been necessary
  24. Not boring at all - good to watch I thought. In terms of pace - will be difficult for the crowd to get the old “Olé, Olé” going as the passes are often a bit too quick to keep up with, and the moves go on for ages. Compared to most of the possession football I’ve seen from saints in the past there was more variation and an anticipation that it might actually lead to a chance.
  25. That’s not how it works tho, is it. The whole point is that the moment is ruined because you’re not sure, even tho it all looks fine. Pretty sure there were a couple in back to back matches last season - was one Brighton away - where it only came up with VAR check being made (then ruled out) about 2 or 3 minutes later when the opponents were about to kick off.
