  1. The incredible upturn in performance level, with the same players, reminds me of when Pooch came in. This guy seems to have something special.
  2. The Parrott winner today reminded my of Gordon Watson’s in the 3-1 comeback win against Newcastle, in front of the Archers. A very deft finish with the studs of the boot, before anyone else could react
  3. Very nice ball through to set up the Irish equaliser this afternoon - manning also played his part when he came on, in a fantastic finish. Baz on the bench - the actual keeper had an amazing game so no arguments there. Who knew what could be achieved with a great keeper and a striker who knows where the goal is.
  4. In that Norwich game, I recall thinking we would have been 3 or 4 down with baz in nets, before we scored
  5. August 2017 - Goa completes take over of SFC who have just finished 8th in the premier league, competed in the UEfA cup and been robbed of victory at Wembley in the league cup. 2018 - Chinine government policy explicitly limits funding for overseas sports teams Perhaps the decision having most impact on Saints fortunes in recent years?
  6. The first time I saw FB play at The Dell he got 2 or 3 goals. It was in a schools final played immediately after the 2-2 v West Brom in the Keegan era. (Aka the “what a tremendously strike by the Yugoslav” game). Franny was playing up front and was the best player by a mile. (A good mate from school was also playing, hence my interest, after watching the first team game)
  7. This has reminded me that after the second foul throw, Jimmy Case had to come over and explain what he was doing wrong to him. Classic stuff. someone also mentioned Paul Wotton - the bloke behind us used to give him non-stop dogs abuse, and was referred to by our group for many years afterwards as “Wotton’s Dad” 🙂
  8. Alan McCloughlan? he’s in my original team! We should definitely have Anderson as director of football and maybe Lowe as chairman?
  9. Prutton also scores highly for attacking a linesman and missing a whole load of crucial games in our unsuccessful relegation run-in.
  10. This is more complicated than I thought - further clarification We are after the worst team made up of saints signings. Not a team made up of the worst saints signings. i.e. Ramesdsle should be nowhere near it.
  11. My recollection is also Hurlock - definitely a brave move
  12. Just to clarify - I was thinking a team of worst ever signings, not the worst ever team, which I guess would mainly be players coming through the youth system who weren’t quite good enough (so someone at the club actively thought “he could do a job for the first team” - and if we decided to shell out a load of dosh on them, even better)
  13. We can’t have as Speedie and Dixon, as they would surely reignite their old partnership and even outscore Shearer 😉 I went for Speedie as he scored four less goals and attacked a fellow player with a fire extinguisher (allegedly) making him captain material. I take your point on Osvaldo - although the smashing it in the top corner v City just made the leaving on a free to start a music career all the sweeter.
  14. Actually can I add Patrick Colleter to my bench - hopefully causing at altercation
  15. The rules are completely up to you - forecast is a great shout but surely sub keeper?
  16. What’s your worst saints signings XI? I found it a quite therapeutic selection exercise, scanning through https://www.saintsplayers.co.uk/players/ and being disappointed when you see a Van Dijk or a Jimmy Case. Here’s mine. Bazunu Lee Todd / Bella-kotchap / Calletta-Car / Oliver Bernard Dia / Maitland-Niles / Orsic Downs / Carrillo / Speedie (c) Subs - Onuachu / Delgado / Osvaldo / Salisu / Kanchelskis/ Alan McCloughlin Manager - Harry Redknapp
  17. I can only assume their metric is whose sell on value might increase the most if played - nothing to do with us winning games.
  18. Please no Baz 🙏 Please no DD 🙏 Looking forward to a tackle from Romeu
  19. Absolute liability - as usual. How he gets a game above McCarthy is surely nothing to do with winning games of football.
  20. I vaguely recall him scoring a cracking goal from the edge of the area (was it v QPR) and in the post match interview it was suggested it was a tackle rather than a shot. 🙂 great to have him back
  21. Is this the official announcement? if so, I like it.
  22. We did go top briefly, as the Newcastle game was on a Friday, but think we were 4th after the other games. it was the week after me memorably went 4-0 up at villa park in next to no time - particularly memorable for me as I watched it with a Villa supporting friend 🙂 much happier days - although we did have a terrible run later on and finished well down the table.
  23. Welcome to the Forum Baz. Good to have your take on things.
  24. So , we have less than a week to come up with a new name for the South Coast derby?
  25. I can sea us coasting to promotion now.
