  1. :smt023 I have, 79° north. There was lots of ice and stuff and all sorts of frozen things. But I don't think it proves anything. I've got the same stuff on the road outside my house.
  2. 'scientists believe' is another way of saying 'nobody knows'
  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7888301.stm
  4. I don't, but if I did, I couldn't. It's not just railways stations, it's a whole catalogue of public buildings.
  5. And just to balance the debate... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/globalwarming/4029837/Global-warming-Reasons-why-it-might-not-actually-exist.html
  6. They've heard of it but it's a question of how much correction is applied, and on what basis. Whichever way you look at them the figures have been 'adjusted'.
  7. I agree with you. Nobody even knew there was a hole until satellite measurements found it. The vast majority of the CFCs came from scrapping air-conditioning systems in american cars, which is easily avoided. I always thought that the ozone in the upper atmosphere was caused by the ionising solar radiation.
  8. Unlikely I agree, but somebody like him. Plus Hoolahan would be cup-tied in the JPT.
  9. The ozone layer has no bearing on any global warming.
  10. Temperature measurements from satellite observations show no warming at all. The ground-based measurements are skewed by the fact that a large number of meteorological stations are located in cities and airports whose environments have changed considerably over the time periods that have been considered and so the readings have been 'adjusted' to take account of the local warming effects.
  11. Politicians know nothing about everything.
  12. They are slowly strangling our freedoms. You can't even take a photograph of a railway station now because of the terrorism act. It's like putting a frog in water and slowly briging it to the boil. We don't notice until it's too late....
  13. Right back, central midfield, up front are where we need to strengthen IMO. We are not controlling games from midfield and I would like to see us get someone like Hoolahan from Norwich.
  14. That's only so that they can arrange a 'Champions League' and a 'Europa League'. I am totally against reducing the sizes of the divisions so that the football politicians can tinker with their empire-building. And as others have said, you can't schedule a mid-season break in England. There would be a month of inactivity during a relativley mild spell followed by a month or two of freezing blizzards and cancellations. Even then, the better stadiums are perfectly capable of safely staging a match.
  15. Tuesday 26th January.
  16. It just looks red to me.
  17. I take it that you are neither Welsh nor Scottish? You need long-term geological stability and there are possible sites but there is local opposition. Another part of the problem is that our breeder reactors have also been used to provide products for the UK nuclear weapons industry and there is a lot of reprocessing necessary before storage. The sea is probably the safest place but that's a political no-no.
  18. We have 7 games in January plus a possible replay at Luton so if we are to rest players I would expect it to be then. I'm confident that the management are aware of this and we may even have some new faces by the end of the month.
  19. Have a good Christmas. Until Boxing Day at least.
  20. We are a lot nearer than we were at the end of September.
  21. Indeed there were some who were picked up from the water by the lifeboats. Many of those who jumped into the water were killed by their lifejackets which broke their necks as they hit the surface. http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/titanic-survivor/thomas-patrick-dillon.html
  22. Nuclear is the only option and we should have been building them 10 years ago. Everything else is expensive wishful thinking.
  23. Close, but not quite enough. Not surprised really but still a little disappointed. I don't think it will matter at the end of the season and I don't suppose many teams will get much at Elland Road. The Colchester match will probably be more significant.
  24. Maybe if they'd burnt more gas we'd have less snow.
